Der Main Event und Adam Page vs. Jay Briscoe sind 2 wirklich gute Matches. Vor Allem von Page und Jay war ich positiv überrascht, auch gut, dass Adam Page hier gewinnen durfte. Okada vs. Dalton Castle fand sehr unterhaltsam, Fish vs. Briscoe ist auch ziemlich gut und das Tag Team Title Match war auch ganz nett, abegesehen vom dämlichen Finish. Die restlichen Matches sind ganz in Ordnung. Ich hoffe nun, dass Kyle O'Reilly bei Final Battle den Titel von Adam Cole gewinnt, das würde ich wirklich gerne sehen. Insgesamt halten sich die New Japan Stars hier eher zurück, da der G1 erst ein paar Tage her ist aber alles in allem ein absolut ordentlicher PPV, wie ich finde. Ich denke All Star Extravaganza werde ich mir auch noch ansehen. |

Opener war Okay (***). Shibata vs Young macht spaß, weil Shibata einfach Großartig ist (** 3/4), CHAOS vs Bullet Club war das schwächste Match der Show, aber es war auch mehr Comedy. Page vs Briscoe sehr gutes Hardcore Match (****). Okada vs Castle solides Midcard Match (***) Fish vs Briscoe war ging lahm los wurde aber dann recht gut (*** 1/4), Tag Title Match war sehr stark mit vielen tollen Spots (*** 3/4) und der Main Event war sehr gut mit einer tollen intensität und Story (****) |

Defiantly worth checking out. |

Shibata vs. Young war in Ordnung, aber doch etwas enttäuschend bei der Fight-Erwartung (**¾). CHAOS vs. BULLET CLUB war eher schwach (**). Page vs. Briscoe war ein sehr schönes Hardcore Match mit einigen starken Spots zu beginn der Midphase (Powerbomb auf den Stuhl, der Stuhlschlag an der Barrikade, Chair Hangman's Neckbreaker) und gegen Ende hin gab es dann noch einen grandiosen Rite Of Passage durch nen Tisch. Die Schlussphase allgemein war grandios gemacht, vor allem auf emotionaler Ebene und stellt wunderbares Storytelling dar. Insgesamt ein sehr starkes Match (****). Okada vs. Castle war recht unterhaltend mit ganz netten Szenen & Sequenzen. Insgesamt solide (***). Fish vs. Briscoe begann relativ zäh, entwickelte sich dann im Endeffekt zu einem guten Match. Rückenbearbeitung war okay, Schlussphase recht gut. Hätte dennoch ein wenig mehr erwartet (***¼). Das Tag Team Titel Match war gut, lieferte ein paar nette Spots, eine gute Schlussphase und ein super Finish, das dort perfekt passte (***½). Cole vs. Lethal im ME war dann schönes Storytelling in einem hitzigen und sehr intensiven Match, in welchem die beiden ihre charakterlichen Emotionen wunderbar darstellen. Mimik & Gestik passen hier perfekt, auch wenn ich einmal nicht nachvollziehen konnte, warum sie an der Stelle genosellt haben. Die Schlussphase war dann sehr spannend mit großartigen Nearfalls, netten Nosells und wieder super Storytelling. Das Ende war symbolisch und gut. Großartiges Match (****¼)! Das Ende mit O'Reilly ist dann noch mal ganz nett gemacht. Insgesamt sind das dann 7, 69 von 10 Punkten - "gut". |
| 17 | 23.08.2016 | jboyaquar | 8.0 | A noteworthy show from ROH's West Coast home - 'Sam's Town' - in which the ROH talent clearly outshined their (probably exhausted) NJPW counterparts. The opener featured more Dijak/Rush goodness that was recently featured on ROH TV. (Thankfully, Mr. White didn't win as it would have rapidly progressed the already growing noxious neonate in my throat) Silas's moveset is still too complicated for a man whose skillset isn't exemplary but I thought he came off well against a patient, generous Shibata. And certainly better than the 'rub' Castle got from a 'takin' it easy' Okada. I'm not sure if A Page has the personality to be a star, or the size to be a major heel player, but he and J Briscoe had a wild match. Perspicaciousness is a desired trait in mic work only when it doesn't too harshly rip at the opponent, so the annoying tweener B Fish should be jeered for his work at lowering M Briscoe's aura; the match didn't matter cause I was told thateven if MB won it would lower the title's esteem. The tag title's denouncement was verycleverly laid out and the match focused on shining the light on the incredible abilities possessed by Mr. Elgin. Finally, the bookers of ROH came up with a solid story, too much emotion in a match is never a good thing, to both end the title reign of J Lethal and rescue A Cole from the purgatorial depths of his time with 'The Kingdom. ' However, I would be more into babyface O'Reilly if he hadn't already had the big victory over AC earlier this year. 7. 5 |

The 4-way opener was pretty strong (*** 3/4). Very impressed with Lio Rush. Looking forward to what he can achieve in the future. Shibata vs. Young (*** 1/2). It was a very physical match, as expected and I think a good show of Shibata's skills to the American audience. The 6-Man Tag (** 1/2). Maybe NJPW's influence brought here the worst match on the card. These multimen matches are synonymous with New Japan but they are rarely good. Page vs. Briscoe (****). The second-best match of the night after the main event. ROH's hardcore matches never disappoint. Castle vs. Okada (*** 1/4). A fun encounter. Both men's charismas mixedwell with one another. Fish vs. Briscoe (*** 1/2). The first of three championship matches and it was good. Both men put on a decent performance. 3-way Tag Title Match (*** 1/4). With so many talented wrestlers in the ring it was hard for this match to be a well contained affair in the ring. But still The Adiction's crafty personas are very interesting. Lethal vs. Cole (**** 1/2). Just go and watch the match now. |

Die US/Japan-Clashes ohne Story brauche ich nicht mehr, da sie mir einfach zu belanglos sind und ROH sich immer weiter in eine schädliche Abhängigkeit gibt. So waren es hier für mich Page/Briscoe und Lethal/Cole, die den Abend gerettet haben. Abseits davon fühlte es sich wie eine Supercard auf irgendeiner Tour an und nicht wie ein ROH-PPV. Shibata, Okada, Tanahashi und Naito sind sicherlich immer ein Blick wert, aber ROH muss sich auf wieder auf ihre eigene Stärke konzentrieren und die sind ja immer noch da. Brutales Match zwischen Jay und Adam Page und die Story und die Intensität bei Lethal und Cole war ebenfalls gut. Durch diese Matches rettet sich ROH auf eine befriedigende Note. |

Shibata/Young - (** 3/4) - disappointing match as it was just too one sided to be a Shibata showcase that crowd wanted . Instead, they decided to put Young over with some good nearfalls but he couldnt really carry it. They should've just opted for back and forth strong style match. 6 man - (** 1/2) - this was fun for it was and crowd enjoyed it. Page/Jay - (***3/4) - this was a great brawl with a lot of brutal stuff in it. Really liked that they just showed up without entrances for post 6 man shenanigans and started kicking the shit out of each other. The only problem was that they wasted a lot of time setting those spots, should've been faster. Okada/Dalton - (*** 1/4) - expected more out of it, but still was decent fun match. Fish/Chicken - (*** 1/2) - decent slow paced match . there was a good storytelling here and i was constantly focused. Fish should've showed more heel stuff as build up suggested and worked on the leg and spine more. Commentary was really good here. Tag title - (****) - this was just fun fun fun match with clever ending. Everybody got their shit in and crowd loved it. Taven on mic was great contrasting to super serious tone of overall commentary. Main - (****) - Great match that told a great story. The beginning was a bit nothing but it really heated up towards the end. Overall a great show that had a lot of stuff in it. For once ROH guys were the highlight of the show. Great commentary but some shitty directing( lots of unnecessary replays, choosing wrong angles). Excited about the product in the future |

ROH has failed to impress me in the last few months, but I think they have found their rythym again. |

One of my least favorite matches ever, just didn't like it at all (DUD). Overall a pretty weak show, with only one match that I would truly recommend, even though even that match isn't must see. |

Shibata vs Silas Young ist lahm. Der Funke will gar nicht überspringen und das ständige NJPW schlägt ROH-Konzept nervt auf Dauer auch. Das Six Man Tag Team Match ist dann ganz überl. Solche Gestalten wie Takahashi und Yano haben nicht in einem Ring verloren. Ihr Unterhaltungswert ist gleich null. Ganz klar das schlechteste Match des Abends. Das Hardcore Match von Page und Jay Briscoe beginnt zwer relativ unspektakulär, aber es steigert sich mit jeder Minute. Die Intensität und Härte nimmt immer mehr zu und die Schlußphase ist wirklich gut. Auch Castle und Okada zaubern ein unterhaltsames Match in den Ring. Die Interaktion mit den Boys war auch super gemacht. Fish vs Mark Brisoce um den TV-Titel war in Ordnung, mehr nicht. Ich weiß nict ob sich Mark wirklich am Rücken verletzt hat, aber er wirkte über weite Strecken des Matches schon eingeschränkt. War relativ durchschnittlich. Das Tag Team Titelmatch war besser. Kein Knaller, aber durchweg unterhaltsam. Die teilnehmenden Namen waren ja auch groß genug. Wenigstens hier darf ROH den Titel behalten, wenn auch nur durch cheaten. Der Main Event war stark aufgebaut und war auch für mich das MotN. Es war nicht der epochale Klassiker, der die Enthronung Lethal's eigentlich hätte sein müssen, aber das war auch nur schwer möglich. Beide haben ihre Rolle auf jedenfall gut gespielt und das Match hat Spaß gemacht. Insgesamt eine ordentliche Show, der man aber doch angemerkt hat, dass die ständigen gemeinsamen Shows von ROH und NJPW langsam ihren Reiz verloren haben. Die besten Matches des Abends waren fast durchweg ohne NJPW-Beteiligung. |

Okada completely overdelivered against Dalton Castle in what was a surprisingly good match with both men motivated, but still aware of their place on the card. I want to see more of these two, ***1/2. Fish and Mark did a good job here, though I feel like I'm the only one who enjoyed the slower pace. Mark might have hurt his back since he was selling that over the knee, but I hope he's alright. ***1/2. Cole/Lethal was awesome. Go watch it. ****1/2. |

The opener was just awesome, as expected from all 4 guys, and Dijak coming for the TV Title is great (****). Silas vs Shibata was really good and had a great, tough atmosphere (***3/4). CHAOS vs Bullet Club was more fun than I expected by virtue of the face team; Yano is the best and the crowd knowing his shtick was really cool (***). Page vs Briscoe just got better and crazier as it went. I really loved how it escalated, and how strongly it put over Page without making Briscoe look bad (****). Okada and Castle had a fun match, but in the ring they didn't mesh all that well. Castle just outclassed Okada in the ring, honestly, even if Okada was holding back since it wasn't a New Japan main event, but there were some solid pieces of offense like usual, and his interactions with The Boys were very fun (***1/2). Fish vs Briscoe was just not interesting. Fish bores me to death even if he is a good wrestler, and Mark being his great self and hitting his spots just couldn't save it (***). The tag title match was kinda hectic in a good way, with the dynamic between the teams (Face vs Heel vs Cool Ingobnerable Heels). Tanahashi and EVIL in particular were really good, and the finish with Daniels jackknifing a guy already being covered was genius (***3/4). The main event just lacked heat, was slow to get going, and was a foregone conclusion with Cole winning so he can transition to Kyle (***1/2). Overall, a very enjoyable show, even though Delirious's odd booking still exists. |

Aber Hauptsache sich selbst over bringen. Dann zwei fiese Botches, was dem Match natürlich nicht geholfen hat (**1/4). Shibata im Außeneinsatz mit etwa 25 % seiner üblichen Leistungsbereitschaft. Er überlies Young komplett das Match, dann Comeback, Choke und Penalty Kick für den schnellen Sieg (**3/4). Spaßiges Six Man Match, Loa traut sich nicht, Yano mit dem Cornerpad zu schlagen, der aber trotzdem fröhlich für einen harten Luftzug bumpt. War irgendwie OK trotz einer ganzen Reihe Botches und Comedy (**). Jay Briscoe vs. Page fand ich ziemlich gut. Große Bumps, dennoch übersichtlich genug und gleichzeitig wild genug, um sich vom Rest zu unterscheiden (***1/4). Okada vs. Castle sehr unterhaltsam gemacht und trotz fehlender Spannung sehr ansehnliches Wrestling (***). Mark Brisoe in einem seiner sehr viel besseren Singles Matches gegen den leider weiterhin charismafreien Bobby Fish - sehr gut fand ich (***1/4). Sehr guter Main Event, aber für mich am Thema vorbei. Ich denke, die beiden hassen sich! =. Und dann wrestlen die hin und her anstatt sich quer durch die Gegend zu prügeln. Sehr starkes Match fand ich, aber Jay vs. Page war wilder (***1/2). |

Shibata/Young war ok (**3/4) und Castle/Okada war sehr solide (***1/4). CHAOS vs. BULLET CLUB war komplett ein NJPW Undercard Match, mit einem lustigen Spot (Yano vs. RoH Polster). Tag Team Title war ein riesiger Clusterfuck und naito ist mega over sobald er auch nur im Ring rumsteht. Zu den reihnen RoH Matches: Opener war spaßig (***1/4) und das TV Title Match MotN (***3/4). Bei Page vs. Briscoe ging mir das neue Gimmick von Page (denn ich sonst sehr mag) unglaublich auf die Nerven. Immerhin ein intensiver Brawl, auch wenn mit selbstzerstörerischen Spots (***1/2). Vom Main Event war ich etwas enttäuscht. Der schlechtes Anfang eines Main Event den ich lange gesehen habe. Cole liegt ewig tot rum, damit Lethal einen Tisch suchen und aufstellen kann, nur um selbst durchzufliegen, was ich Match dann selbst keine Rolle mehr spielt. Zum Ende hin wurde es besser auch wenn die vielen Kick-outs anfingen zu nerven. (***1/4) |
