[10.0] "It was an excellent show. This second ever Aztec Warfare keeps the mystique and the atmosphere around, but totally changes the structure of the match. If the first one was only a spotfest, here it was divided on two parts. The first, that lasted almost all the match was a very good spotfest with great Lucha Libre and where all the rivalries we've seen on the second season took part of. It was so cool and it helpt built more characters. But then, after Dario Cueto made his return he presented his brother Monster Matanza Cueto (Jeff Cobb). Then the pace changed. Matanza was eliminating every other wrestler with his insane powermoves. You could see every other wrestler was afraid of him and his power and totally stablished himself as the new top guy on the company. I don't like his looks, but it is what it is. Dario Cueto coming back to control the temple, the debuts of Rey Mysterio and Dragon Azteca Jr., and some great performances by the usual great wrestlers made this show really enjoyable and unique."
[10.0] "Excellent one-match episode, which is understandable since it was Aztec Warfare and needed the time. This was, by far, the best Aztec Warfare match they had. But they were all great. This is just my favorite."
[9.0] "Die vielleicht beste Episode überhaupt von Lucha Underground und eines der besten Rumble/Aztec Warfare Matches überhaupt. Dieses Match hat alles, was man sich von einem solchen erhofft. Vorher hatte mich die zweite Season von LU nicht so krass gecatcht wie noch die erste, aber danach war ich wieder komplett drinnen, weil einfach so viel passiert ist in diesem einen Match. Wahnsinnig viele Fehden wurden in dem Match eingebaut, auf die man gespannt sein konnte. Noch dazu war das Lineup unglaublich gut. Noch bei Aztec Warfare 1 waren sehr viele Jobber und unnötige Teilnehmer mit dabei, hier dagegen überhaupt nicht. Nahezu jeder war glaubwürdig in diesem Match und hatte gewisse Chancen auf den Sieg. Dann hatte man sehr starke Debuts vor allem von Rey Mysterio und Dragon Azteca, die man lange vorher angeteast hat und die nicht enttäuscht haben, da sie sehr gut als Team funktionieren. Das Booking war auch großartig. Die frühe Eliminierung von Fenix hat es noch spannender gemacht, da man wusste, es wird einen neuen Champion geben und auch Mil Muertes hat man sehr sinnvoll eliminiert und gleiche eine neue Fehde mit Pentagon angeteast, sodass auch dieser nicht geschwächt wurde. Was das Match aber auf ein ganz anderes Level bringt ist das Debut von Mantanza Cueto, das man auch lange vorher angeteast hatte. Allein von der Story her mit Dario Cueto, der somit auch zurück ist, hat es absolut Sinn ergeben. Und dann hat man damit einen asboluten WTF Moment kreiert. So ein krasses Showing hat er bekommen und eliminiert erstmal die Hälfte der anderen. Dann liefert er absolut im Ring ab und schockiert damit jeden und gewinnt am Ende absolut dominant den Titel. Was ein krasses Debut, was ein krasses Booking und was ein krasses Match. Am Ende stellt man sich so viele Fragen und ist auf so vieles gespannt. Genau das, was so ein Match erreichen soll."
[9.0] "One Match Shows haben es in Lucha Underground tendenziell immer etwas einfacher und auch besser - wie hier. Was für ein geniales Match. Jede einzelne Storyline und jeder Fehden Strang aller LU Fehden kam hier zum Einsatz, teils als Weiterführung, teils auch zum Klimax. Fenix als #1, alle Hochkaräter unter den ersten 10, viele tolle Fehden (Mundo/Cage) und das Debüt von Rey Mysterio. Dazu muss man einfach sagen, dass alle Spots außerordentlich gut sitzen, richtig starke Aktionsdichte, geile Transitions und für 30/35 Minuten Non Stop Action. Auch Matanza finde ich persönlich gar nicht so schlimm. Er wird halt nun als der absolute Zerstörer gebookt und dennoch baut man am Ende mit Puma & Rey eine geile Never Die Attitüde auf. Hochklassig (****¼ + MOTN). Insgesamt macht das auch in Show Betrachtung: 8. 55/10"
[7.0] "Good one match show I suppose. Loved everything about the match from the crazy spots to the subtle storytelling for longtime fans, but all that progress was ruined when Matanza debuted. Went from a borderline awesome match to just a good match, ****."
[9.0] "Aztec Warfare ist auch in dieser Staffel wieder eine absolut grandiose Sache und ein durchweg starkes Match. Tolles Comeback von Dario Cueto, dessen Bruder sich dann direkt den Titel holen darf. Gefallen hat mir auch das Debüt von ReyRey und die allgemein gelungenen Weiterführungen der verschiedenen Storys. Eine absolut runde Sache."
[8.0] "One Match Show: Sehr schönes Aztec Warfare Match, bei dem Stories ordentlich weiter geführt werden (Johnny Mundo und Taya vs. Cage, Chavo Guerrero vs. Texano, oder auch PJ Black und Jack Evans vs. Drago), neue Charaktere eingeführt werden (Rey Mysterio, Monster Matanza Cueto und auch Dragon Azteca jr. ) und der Titel wechselt. Mir persönlich hat diese kurzweilige Ausgabe gefallen, wenn auch mit dem Auftauchen Dario Cuetos der Sieger quasi feststand."

[6.0] "While this was one of the better battle royals you will see it still has the issues inherent to the concept . Guys come in . Do their spots and then basically have to stand around until they are needed again . They mitigated some of the issues by having the guys leave the ring so as not to be standing around the ring looking stupid but the problem remains . The air was also sucked out of the match by the last entrant who all the faces had to show fear of , including Misterio who's gimmick has been giant killer for the last decade or so . Having said that it was a good match and worth watching ."
[8.0] "Anfangssegment gut. Das Aztec Warfare Match war bis zum Entrance von Matanza einfach nur großartig und hätte 4 3/4 verdient. Jeder hatte da wirklich seine beste Leistung abgeliefert. Das Finish ruiniert es jedoch leider total. Dennoch darf man trotz der Enttäuschung am Ende nicht die einfach göttlichen 30 Minuten zuvor vergessen, weswegen ich das Match dennoch als sehr gut bezeichnen würde (****)."
[9.0] "Wieder mal ein sehr gutes Aztec Warfare Match. Die Dynamiken im Roster wurden gut mit eingebaut. Mantanza war ziemlich episch, auch wenn es dann vorhersehbar war. Immerhin scheint Dario nun wieder in Kontrolle zu sein(? )"
[2.0] "This was a great episode for the first 40-odd minutes. There was none of the usual Lucha Underground nonsense backstage stuff and all of it was built around showcasing a fiery match for the main title. Then the last few minutes was ruined by a terrible character who ruined the match and a bunch of main eventers' credibility at the same time. He wiped away all meaning to this episode like a magnet to a hard drive. I was so disappointed with how this turned out being."
[10.0] "Wieder ein starker Beginn zwischen Fenix, Pentagon und Catrina. Die 3 haben einfach ein super Zusammenspiel. Daraus könnte man gerne noch mehr machen. Mich hat das auf jeden Fall sehr unterhalten. Aztec Warfare ist dann auch sehr gutes Match. Schön wie die kleinen Geschichten erzählt werden (Ryan kettet sich an die Wand) und wie auch die großen Storys im Match fortgeführt werden. Wie z. B. Cage vs. Mundo. Das Debut von Mysterio wurde dem entsprechend gefeiert. Der Champion hält sich lange im Ring. Die Konfrontation von Muertes/Catrina mit Pentagon/Vampiro geht gut weiter und schließlich die Rückkehr von Cueto und mit ihm sein Bruder. Dieser zerstört dann erstmal den ganzen Tempel und wirft alles raus was sich noch im Ring tummelt. Neuer Champion und Cueto ist endlich wieder zurück. Top Ausgabe mit vielen schönen Storyelementen und einer durchaus guten Battle Royal."
[8.0] "Wow, this was a very enjoyable match. There was a lot of things going on, from storylines to in-ring action, but they all overlapped well and it never felt overwhelming as is usual for LU matches recently. The LU debuts of Dragon Azteca Jr. , Matanza, and freaking Rey Mysterio were all very cool as all three of these debutants displayed impressive skill, especially Azteca, who was being built up in promos for quite a while, and Matanza, who has been built up since all the way back in season 1. Mysterio was of course showing off the impressive lucha skills that made him my favourite wrestler back when I was 9, so it was great to see him wrestle again. The various rivalries that were rekindled in this match were very enjoyable to see and added to a lot of the already great action. Fenix x Cuerno, Mundo and Taya x Cage, Jack Evans and PJ Black x Drago, Mysterio x Mundo (from their old WWE days, which I'm sure was relevant here since they had a long stare down), Puma x Mundo, The Mack x Cage, and even The Mack x Marty and Texano x Chavo (two rivalries I never really greatly enjoyed) all continued their stories in this match, and it was great to see. This really exemplifies how well LU has crafted various storylines (even if they aren't all great). Returning wrestlers such as Argenis, Aerostar, Joey Ryan, and Mascarita Sagrada were very fun too, and I'm glad they showed up in LU again. This may have saved LU for me, as I'm finally excited to watch new episodes again. ****"
[8.0] "Pfff, was soll man hierzu schon groß sagen? Zugegeben, es war klar, dass Fenix den Titel nicht verteidigen würde, da er für mich definitiv nicht in die Top 5 von Lucha, bestehend aus Puma, Muertes, Pentagon, Morrison und Cage reingehört. Und jetzt kommen da zwei große Überaschungen - zum einen SPOILER Rey Mysterio, den ich nicht erwartet hatte, da die vorausgehenden LU-Folgen ultra langweilig waren, und Matanza. Letzterer rockt das Ding mit gefühlten 10 Finishern und einer unglaublichen Agilität. Zwischendurch ein paar schöne Spots und das Konzept einer Battle Royal mit Pin ist auch genial. Mysterio hat sich auch nicht allzu schlecht angestellt, aber bis auf den Gänsehaut-Moment zu Beginn ist da nichts hängengeblieben. Aber: mal wieder muss ich die Führungsart des Matches kritisieren. Viele große Moves sind in der hohen Dichte an Hotspots völlig untergegangen. Wieder viel zu viel gecuttet und hin und her gesprungen. So kommt bei mir kein Flow auf."
[9.0] "Sehr gutes Match mit guter Weiterführung und Neubildung von Storylines. Nach der Ankuft von Matanza Cueto leider etwas zu vorhersehbar, da klar war das er gewinnen wird."
[10.0] "Absolutely wonderful episode, the storytelling was off the charts. So many things paid off here, things which have been building since the beginning of the first season. Just spectacular, I could list good things about this episode all day. Giving Matanza the title in his first official match is a gamble but he looked fantastic here so I think it will pay off well, the character is fantastic and the man under the mask looks poised to live up to his full potential. Season 2 is looking bright (ironically, considering the theme! )."
[8.0] "Gutes Match mit soliden Teilnehmern. Mehr aber auch nicht. Storytelling hat mich nicht vom Hocker gehauen. Das Ende fand ich komisch. Bei Mil Muertes packt jeder an. Man kommt sogar mit Stühlen. Bei Matanza kommt jeder nacheinander und ohne Waffen. Wie gesagt gutes Match aber nix besonderes. Die meisten Teilnehmer waren auch gut, einige fragwürdige waren dennoch dabei. Mir persönlich gefiel das Royal Rumble 2016 besser."
[10.0] "If you have never seen Lucha Underground, this is the perfect episode to start. The best in what they do, a fight for the entire event, similar to the Royal Rumble. It's great and the post-match has a moment to never forget. This time it's the perfect show."
[8.0] "Atztec Warfare II war schon ziemlich cool aber eine Frage: warum ist Matanza, das Monster, welches Menschen verspeist eine Suplex-Maschine und zeigt einen verf*ckten Redstarpress? Dämlicher ging es echt leider gar nicht."
[10.0] "Einfach eine gute Lucha Ausgabe, hat richtig gut unterhalten. Wenn die WWE mal öfter so wäre, einfach geniales Wrestling. Hat Spaß gemacht und war genial, mehr kann und braucht man gar nicht sagen. GENIAL!"
[10.0] "So muss ein Multi-Men-Match aussehen. Jeder Wrestler kam genau zum richtigen Zeitpunkt und der Beginn mit Rey Misterio und Fenix hat die Crowd gleich mitgerissen. Dazu die ganzen Storylines weitergeführt: The Mack vs Marty Martinez, PJ Black&Jack Evans vs Aerostar&Drago und mal wieder richtig gut gemacht Johnny Mundo & Taya vs Cage. Nett waren auch die kleinen Comedy-Segemente von Famous B und Joey Ryan ohne zu aufdringlichzu wirken. Der Auftritt von Pentagon jr gegen Mil Muertes und der darauffolgende Wutanfall von Catrina gegen Vampiro sind dann nicht einfach nur eine Weiterführung der Fehde zwischen den beiden Wrestlern sondern wird als Einleitung für die Rückkehr von Dario Cueto und dem Debüt von Matanza genutzt. Als ich gelesen habe, wer Matanza darstellt hatte ich ja die Befürchtung, dass er aufgrund seiner geringen Größe nicht so bedrohlich wirkt, aber die Sorge war unbegründet. Großartige kraftvolle Aktionen und auch technisch hat das Monster echt was drauf. Wie bereits vorher von "jarboo" beschrieben, hatte ich eigentlich auch mit mindestens einem Kick-Out von Dragon Azteca oder Rey Misterio gerechnet, aber das kann man sich auch für die folgenden Single Matches aufheben."
[10.0] "Aztec Warfare II hat einfach mal wieder alles übertroffen ! Dieses einzelne Match hatte einfach so viel Spannung und Intensität das es richtig spaß gemacht hat. Und Matanza ist einfach der Hammer was der da für Moves für ein Big Man ausgepackt hat war echt sehr stark. Insgesamt einrichtig geiles Match was von anfang bis Ende Spaß gemacht hat zugucken. Einfach das Perfekte Match. 10 Punkte !"

[9.0] "Es gab nur ein Match doch das war sehr, sehr stark (****1/4) zu dem mehr im Guide. Ansonst fand ich die Backstage Szene mit Catrina und Fenix mit seinen Bruder Pentagon Jr. sehr stark. Pentagon Jr auch wieder mit Aussagen das er nur auf seinen Meister hört und keine Angst hat. Es hat hier sehr viel gestimmt starke Folge, 9 Punkte."

The action, the storytelling, the swerves, the atmosphere, the ending, all of it was pitch-perfect. There's so much to love about this match, and even more to love about everything around it. Phenomenal episode to end the first leg of Season 2 as we transition into the reign of Matanza."
