[4.0] "Houston Wrestling 07/29/83 – Ronnie Garvin vs. The Missing Link: This was ‘The Missing Link’s’ debut at the Sam Houston; Garvin still has his 60s-70s Ray Stevens-esque mop of golden-orange hair. Link wants to delay and then brawl whereas Garvin would like to wrestle. Link gets frustrated and climbs the NE buckle of which Garvin then dropkicks Link who takes a nice bump onto the floor. You can guess which has a roided-up frame. Link hooks Garvin into a right arm-bar that is worked over for a long while. Garvin threatens to get out of it via a punch but the ref warns him not to and Garvin listens b/c he’s a face. Link’s heel-dom is mostly a façade as the only heel schtick Link actually does is ram Garvin’s head into the SW turnbuckle. Garvin initiates his comeback w/ an atomic drop; maybe that haircut is actually purposefully Backlund-esque. The 10, 000 inside the Coliseum are enjoying it. Garvin’s face shine is a bit scattered going from stretching out Link’s left hammy to a monkey flip from the SE corner. But this is Link’s showcase and he blocks a SW buckle monkey flip, hits a couple of elbows to a flattened Garvin, knee against the ropes and a weak backbreaker and positions Garvin down for the pin. Link can bump but his offense is very deliberate. 4. 5"
