[8.0] "Fun combination show between the top Japanese promotion and what could be considered , at least quality wise , the top American promotion . Aside from the main event the card had a good time , fun quality not unlike the Fantasticamania shows . Crowd was not super hot but in places had a more western feel with the chanting . Lethal was pretty over . The Main was very good . Worth watching : Castle & Taguchi vs. Liger & Sydal , Delirious vs. Gedo , Kazarian vs. Kushida , Fish & co. vs. Omega & co. , Gallows & Anderson vs. Briscoes , Okada & YOSHI-HASHI vs. Lethal & Naito and my top match was Strong vs. Ishii ."

[6.0] "Opener war in Ordnung mit sehr schönen Comedy Elementen (** 1/2). Gedo vs. Delirious fand ich sehr schwach (*). KUSHIDA vs. Kazarian war sehr solide (***). THE ELITE vs. reDRagon & Shibata war sehr gut, sehr schwungvoll, Comedy als Stilmittel immer geil, Spotwrestling wieder mal vom feinsten, Schlussphase ordentlich, Finish sehr sehr geil. 4-5 Minuten fehlten zur absoluten Spitzenklasse (*** 3/4). Briscoes vs. Gallows & Anderson fand ich persönlich eher schwach (** 1/2). CHAOS vs. Naito & Lethal beginnt direkt sehr schwungvoll hin zu einem frühen Versuch der Finisher seitens Lethal & Okada. So ging es auch weiter. Schlussphase war druck- und spannungsvoll, Martini und Evil bringen Naito und Lethal den Sieg, die gegen Ende doch noch zusammenarbeiten, nachdem zuvor ihr Ego im Vordergrund steht. Alles in allem ein gutes Match (*** 1/4). Ishii vs. Strong beginnt recht zäh, hatte dann 1-2 nette Spots. Schlussphase war gut, hätte aber auch noch eine Minute kürzer sein können. Direkt nach dem Fireman's Carry Gutbuster hätte man das Endszenario ansetzen können, um das ganze noch kompakter zu machen. Der Spot auf dem Top Rope war nebenbei auch sehr gut. Insgesamt also ein sehr ordentliches Match, das jedoch gekürzt noch besser gewesen wäre (*** 1/4). Insgesamt kommt Honor Rising Day 1 auf 6, 14 von 10 Punkten - "befriedigend"."

[5.0] "Fand die Show in der Hauptsache mega langweilig. Die Undercard kann nichts außer Spots und Comedy, das Six Man Tag ist mit angezogener Handbremse und für mich total spaßfreie Zone, da einfach nichts relevantes passiert. Richtig traurig fand ich mal wieder ein Match mit Lethal, der für mich weiterhin absolut nichts besonderes darstellt und auch das Briscoes Match wirkte auf mich wie langweilige Haushaltskost, die einfach nichts auf dieser Card zu suchen hatte. Main Event ist gut, kommt aber leider ohne Heat daher und auch die Dramatik hält sich sehr in Grenzen mit dem Backsuplex vom Apron nach draußen. Mir kam es so vor, als hätten die beiden wenig Chemie miteinander. Pops gabs dann noch mal für den Vertucal Superplex und die Powerbomb von Ishii. Die Fans in den vorderen Reihen sahen alle so aus, als würden sie auf Ishiis Niederlage warten, doch der kickt easy aus der Finishing-Combo aus und kassiert noch mal Anfeuerungsrufe. Der Headbutt aufs Kinn und die Lariat hätten das Ende sein müssen, statt dessen gehts noch weiter mit einem überflüssigen Vertical Suplex (***1/4)."

[6.0] "Solide Show: Es ist ziemlich merkwürdig eine japanische Crowd "this is awesome" rufen zu hören. Neben den beiden ***1/2 Sternen Matches (The Elite vs. Shibata & reDRagon & der Main Event) war der Rest ziemlich durchschnittliche Kost ohne große Schwächen."

[7.0] "Ich fand desen Event überraschend Gut. Ich habe bei der Card mit weitaus weniger gerechnet. Jedes Match war mindestens Solide und mit Omega und Bucks vs ReDRagon und Shibata, dem 8 Man Tag und dem Main Event gab es 3 gute Matches. MOTN war für mich der Main Event (4*) gefolgt vom Six Man Tag Match. (3 3/4*) Die anderen Matches haben eher mit vereinzelten spots geglänzt wie Liger der mit den Boys posiert oder Naito der aus dem Book of Truth liest. Insgesamt eine schöne Show mit Schocker am Ende."

[5.0] "This show had many fun moments due to the interactions between the ROH wrestlers and the Japanese audience as well as with the NJPW wrestlers themselves, of course. These fun moments often felt rather cheap however, often occurring unrelated to the actual matches. It was great seeing the audience do Moose's taunt and chant, but that didn't add much to his match, and he often looked quite awkward despite the crowd support. It was also fun seeing Lethal getting annoyed while trying to suss out Naito (only to realise he actually likes Naito because they are both assholes) but that didn't result in any great teamwork or anything. I felt like I would have preferred a sitcom where the ROH and NJPW wrestlers lived together and had to try get along despite their different ways of life. I really would have preferred something like that rather than the various mediocre matches we got. There were still a few worthwhile matches. Liger + Sydal vs Taguchi + Castle was very fun and full of charisma. I never knew that I wanted Taguchi to team with Castle, but I want it now. ***1/4. ReDragon + Shibata vs Omega + TYB was another fun match. There's the usual fun spots from the two tag teams and some great sequences between Shibata and Omega. Omega also shows off some insane strength. ***1/2. Roddy vs Ishii surprised by having Ishii win, which nobody really expected. They had some hard hits and a few tense sequences but I expected much more from the two strong-stylers. ***1/2"
