[7.0] "The two big NOAH vs ROH singles matches delivered and made this show a success. With the limited TV time most of ROH's other offerings was cut to pieces for Japanese TV except for the Briscoe spotfest. Davey Richards & Rocky Romero -vs- Jack Evans & Kotaro Suzuki [*], Shuhei Taniguchi -vs- Akihiko Ito [1/2*], Jimmy Rave -vs- BJ Whitmer [1/2*], Bryan Danielson -vs- Go Shiozaki [*** 1/2], Delirious -vs- Roderick Strong [*], Jay Briscoe & Mark Briscoe & Naomichi Marufuji -vs- Atsushi Aoki & Ricky Marvin & Matt Sydal [** 1/2], Takeshi Morishima (c) -vs- Nigel McGuinness - (ROH Title) [*** 1/4] On ROH's first show in Japan NOAH's Morishima defends the ROH Crown against McGuinness, a NOAH gaijin regular. McGuinness has never been used as anything more then a midcard filler, but did get a little NOAH help on the tour leading up to this show getting a confident singles win over Kotaro Suzuki and squaring off against Morishima in a tag match the day before to set the stage for this one-on-one battle. And they naturally did it in a main event formula. The first big moments came early when McGuinness tried a sunset flip the big guy off the apron, but instead Mo hip dropped the brit flat. There was a couple of other apron stunts in there too like McGuinness' Ace Crusher and Morishima's sidewalk slam. Back in the ring it was the lariats and McGuinness bounce-back attacks playing a key part. The execution of this was pretty great and they got the fans into the action. The special thing was that Morishima was in his ROH heel role and got booed a lot by the Japanese ROH crowd! That was a little weird, but Morishima does seem to grasp the badguy idea, so it only made the match more enjoyable watching Morishima with a nasty grin on his face. There was no way Morishima was going to lose this bout on home territory and he didn't. Once he got in his backdrop suplexes throwing McGuinness around big time Morishima could pin him and eat the ROH belt."
