Alex Shelley, Austin Aries, Jack Evans, Matt Sydal, Jimmy Rave, Nigel McGuinness, and more have either made their debuts recently or are starting to receive more prominent spots on the roster, and it has not only refreshed the feel of the shows, but it is clear that the new blood are a significant step up from many of the prospects that we were seeing ROH attempt to push in 2002 and 2003. The storylines are starting to flow very nicely, as many of the wrestlers now have well established rivalries and histories with one another and with the promotion itself, while feuds such as Homicide vs. Samoa Joe continue to escalate. While there are a few slightly underwhelming matches here, they are largely kept short and inoffensive - I'd consider Matt Stryker's flat performance in the ROH Title match to be the main blemish on the card, and even that has some joy to be had in seeing Samoa Joe lay a beatdown on him. The singles and tag fourways are both exciting and a lot of fun, while the main event and Homicide vs. Danielson matches are the two best that we've seen in 2004 so far. We haven't quite entered prime ROH just yet, but with shows like this it is clear that we are well on the way. |

| 4 | 08.09.2021 | arrancar | 6.0 | Another mostly good ROH show but with only two properly good matches worth checking out. Steel vs Whitmer was nothing at all. Just Whitmer fully in bland control. ** Delirious & Daivari vs Carnage Crew was a fine but bland tag with a few fun spots. **1/2. Walters vs Collyer had hard work on both sides. Solid strikes, power moves, selling, and general chemistry. **3/4. The 4 Corner Survival Match was pretty good. Really fun grappling early on by all sans Aries, who instead focussed more so on speed and striking, hitting everything with great intensity. Nigel's grappling magic was incredibly entertaining. Every move looked deliberate and painful. The few run-on multi-man spots were very creative and hit with strong technique. ***1/4 - ***1/2. Danielson vs Homicide was a letdown. Danielson worked his technical expertise accompanied by his signature aggression. Homicide eventually responded with his own gruelling holds and some heelish attacks, allowing Danielson to then show off his babyface-selling. Danielson firing up and fighting back for control was good. Their 50/50 exchanges in the second half were decent, but not as explosive as I knew both men were capable of. Some impressive work, but nothing I was overly impressive by. Simply too long of a match as well. ***1/4. Reyes vs Daniels was inconsequential and skippable. Too short and with zero story leading into it. **1/4. The Scramble Tag Match just had heaps of run-on multi-man spots one after the other. Evans, Sydal, and Shelley looked really good. ***1/4. Joe vs Stryker was mediocre. Stryker was insanely pushed in this period for someone so completely bland. Joe hit his signature stuff, but it felt far more stale than usual because Stryker had nothing interesting in response. Stryker got way too much offence in -- it was absurd. **3/4. Briscoes vs Punk & Cabana wasn't as great as its Cagematch rating would imply, but still really good. Punk had his grimy grappling and Cabana had his fun comedy wrestling alongside some convincingly realistic attacks. Their mix of styles in their tag attacks was quite interesting. Briscoes were booked a bit too weakly, but eventually looked good delivering a big beatdown. Good ramp up of tension leading to the big-move trades and near falls in the second half. The match-winning Pepsi Plunge was great. ***1/2 |

Man hat zwar nicht die sehr gute Verteilung, da der Event mau beginnt, doch dafür umso bessere super Matches, ich hab zwei mal 10 Punkte gegeben an den Mainer und an Homicide vs. Danielson. Der Four Way hat 8/10. Stryker vs. Joe ist absolut solide, bietet eine gute Story und macht einfach spaß, 8/10. Scramble als gute Abwechslung erhält 7/10, aber der Dunn-Up-Fuck hat deutlich gestört. Reyes vs. Daniels und die ersten beiden Matches liegen bei 5/10. Man kann sich alle 3 ansehen, muss man aber nicht. Dafür aber sollte man auch Collyer und Walters mehr als einen Blick schenken, klasse Pure Wrestling. Insgesamt also 9/10. |
| 12 | 10.07.2010 | Sandmann | 8.0 | Steel und Whitmer eröffnen die Show werden aber von den Briscoes und den Saints unterbrochen die sich miteinander brawlen. Daher ist der Opener natürlich leider viel zu kurz. Hätte gerne mehr von beiden gesehen. Das folgende Tag Match war dann leider nicht so der Bringer. Credible zwar over wie Sau aber der Funke wollte nicht so wirklich überspringen. Collyer gegen Walters natürlich Wrestling vom feinsten. Zwei Männer die genau wissen was sie machen. Hat mir sehr gut gefallen. Das 4 Corners Match war auch ganz gut. Bei der Zusammensetzung aber auch nicht wirklich verwunderlich und ein verdienter Sieg für McGuinness. Danielson und Homicide liefern sich dann das wie zu erwartene sehr gute Match. Viel besser gehts nun wirklich nicht. Reyes gegen Daniels ist dann zum verschnaufen der Fans auch genau das richtige. Der Scramble in dieser Besetzung natürlich mehr als spottig und nicht so mein Fall. Auch Joe gegen Stryker fand ich nicht so gut. Match war ok aber wohl niemand rechnete mit einem Sieg von Stryker. Der Main Event hat mir dann wieder gut gefallen und war auch wriklich spannend mit einem verdienten Sieg der Saints. MotN. Bryan Danielson vs. Homicide |

Das Four Corner Survival Match ist wieder einmal ein Match mit viel gutem Wrestling und es macht viel Spaß es anzugucken (* * * 1/4). Danielson vs Homicide ist das beste Match des Wochenendes (* * * 3/4). Homicide wirft Möbel, pöbelt, bringt die Fans endlich total gegen sich auf in dem er ihnen nicht seinen Tope con Hilo präsentiert als sie es sehen wollten. Das Match ist purer Ernst auf beiden Seiten und ist makellos in seiner Ausführung. Daniels vs Reyes ist als Match nach der Pause eben genau nur dieses, was schade ist. Beide sind definitiv zu besserem Berufen. Das Tag Team Scramble wird von Punk mit kommentiert und als er Jack Evans "Flip Master Plex" nennt, lag ich vor lachen am Boden. Nettes Spotfest (* * 1/4). Joe vs Stryker ist ei weitem nicht so einseitig wie man vielleicht denken könnte. Der Tease der Show ist, dass Joe evt. nicht auftauchen würde nach dem Match gegen HOmicide am Vortag und den Titel durch forfeit verlieren könnte. Stattdessen bekommt man ein weiteres starkes Wrestling Match (* * * 1/2). Das Tag Team Title Match ist ebenfalls sehr gut, erzählt eine solide Geschichte und die Fans LIEBEN die Second City Saints. Interessant ist, dass das Match auf DVD nicht kommentiert wird, und von sich alleine getragen wird. Klasse gemacht. * * * 1/2 |
