[8.0] "Overall, it was an excellent NXT TakeOver with several great matches. I genuinely enjoyed four matches on the card, which is pretty rare. There were some big moments, a few nice surprises, and some really strong match endings. I think this pay-per-view perfectly represents what NXT was all about at the time -- a true showcase of its golden era."

[7.0] "While not being that good at first, the latter half of the card was extremely entertaining. All three matches were solid at the very minimum, and had nice highlights. It kind of feels like this is the first Takeover that shines. ***1/2"

The first three matches were decent, nothing special, but the last theee matches were awesome. We got Balor and Neville in a dream match, the only horsewoman four way, and Kevin and Sami in an epic main event."

[8.0] "First I want to say this main event is so underrated and i absolutely adore the finish of the referee having to stop Kevin Owens from murdering Sami Zayn. The rest of this show is very good with Finn Balor and Adrian Neville putting on my favorite match of the night. The womans 4 way match for the title is great and I like how they tell stories between the four women. The rest of the card which is the first three matches is pretty rough, but it doesnt ruin the show. All in all this is a really well done show with great storytelling throughout only brought down by some filler matches to start the card."

[8.0] "Card is definitely propped up by the last three matches. The first three range from okay to downright bad. Like what was the point of the No DQ match if there was not even any DQ worthy things. But the last three matches in this are great. Balor and Neville was a great back and forth. The women's fatal 4 way was super cool to see, and the Owens Zayn match was legitimately shocking. Although, none of these matches are all timers. Probably not a card that will be revisited too much but overall still super solid."

[8.0] "Tyler Breeze and hideo open the show in an ultra exciting way at a time when NXT was starting to create its identity in terms of wrestling, they have great kicking sequences by both and very unexpected kickouts. Note 7 for being too short. Bull Dempsey vs Baron Corbin is a very busy match, but it's basically squash. no grade. lucha dragons vs blake and murphy has the traditional formula of LD matches. Some dives, cool reverses and botches, though. grade 7 Ballor Vs Neville is the best of the night, albeit short. It has loads of impactful finishers and great reversals and kickouts. 8. The fatal 4 way was quite pleasant, especially with Sasha dominating the actions alongside Bayley, with several nice double moves, despite the lazy ending. 8. In my mind the main event was better than it really is. Zayn resists a lot and that's good, but it's basically a squash match. Despite that, the in-ring psychology and zayn dives are really good. 8."

The PPV is mainly penalized by the short duration of some matches, that with a few more minutes could have offered much more, and the performances of Bull Dempsey and Kalisto are, in my opinion, quite disappointing."

The rest of the show was there I guess and didn't do a whole lot although I really felt the Tag Titles match hurt the event slightly, a complete contrast to what the belts are nowadays with them having main evented the last Takeover."

[10.0] "Don't know why this doesn't get much love. One of the best NXT Takeover's, better than R Evolution IMO, and one of my favourite WWE events ever in general. What a show this was. Hideo Vs Breeze was an enjoyable match (***1/4), Corbin/Dempsey sucked and was the one bad match on the show, as expected (*), Lucha Dragons Vs Blake and Murphy was a good match with a surprising outcome (***), Balor/Neville was amazing as expected (****1/4), the Women's fatal four way was exceptional, surpassing Charlotte/Natalya and Charlotte/Sasha from the previous year as the best WWE Women's match ever (at the time) (****1/4) and Owens/Zayn was exceptional, with the perfect combination of despicable heel work by KO and phenomenal selling by Zayn (****1/4). What an event. My personal second favourite NXT show, and one of my favourite WWE shows in general."

[8.0] "The last three matches were all excellent, and the opener (Itami vs. Breeze) was quite good as well. The other two matches didn't work quite as well - Blake/Murphy vs. Lucha Dragons didn't seem to click, and Corbin-Dempsey was kind of weak. Of the three Recommended matches, I'm actually a bit surprised Owens vs. Zayn has a slightly lower rating than the other two - although it wasn't the top match ever between the two (it wasn't as crazy as, say, the ladder matches they had in ROH and PWG), from an emotional and storytelling standpoint I thought it was by far the tops on this show. Not to take away from Balor-Neville and the women's four way, of course; they were great as well."

The opening match between Hideo Itami & Tyler Breeze was tons of fun (have it at ***1/2), Bálor & Neville delivered an high quality match up (****1/4), the women's title match was AWESOME (***3/4) + the main event was close to being a classic (very high ****1/4). Awesome show."

Thought the women's match was a bit overrated but still really enjoyable. Good stuff all around, NXT is where it's at in WWE."

[5.0] "Decent event that has fallen victim to overhype – final three bouts are all decent encounters (and stand far above anything else on the card) but all felt as if they were really obvious ‘build matches’ – and that’s fine, of course; yet it still seemed as if this show was missing a real full-bore intense contest to put it over the top (Balor/Neville comes closest to meeting this descriptor but just fell a little short). Passable viewing but little that can be emphatically recommended."

[6.0] "Great event. The beginning of the card was all for the most part pretty average. The worst match of the night being the brawl between Corbin vs. Dempsey which ended too quick. I couldn't decide which match was my favorite of the night because I enjoyed the four way women's match and the NXT title match equally as much. I would definitely recommend both matches. In third would be Neville vs. Balor, I just wish that they would have done more power moves to give it a bit more versatility. ** 3/4 stars out of 5 for the event"

[8.0] "Another NXT Takeover special, another great event. The development territory is on a roll with producing these top quality shows. The night started with a fun opened between Hideo Itami and Tyler Breeze, this was probably the best Itami has looked in a WWE ring. It went downhill there for a bit though. Corbin v Dempsey started strong, but turned ugly and wasn't very good following the botched clothesline spot. Then Blake & Murphy v the Lucha Dragons was bad, very sloppy and they didn't appear to be on the same page. Finn Balor v Adrian Neville righted the ship though, excellent match from these two, before the fourway divas match stole the show. In my opinion this was match of the night, the NXT divas far surpass the main roster women in terms of ability and match quality. Finally, the main event between Owens and Zayn was good too. And with the finish it appears they were holding back for future matches, this issue can't be finished."

But still, the great thing is that the show went off smoothly and without any awkwardness, and the matches that were supposed to be good were really good."
