[9.0] "An outstanding one-match show that perfectly blends storytelling and in-ring action. The match masterfully revisited key feuds; Sexy Star vs. Chavo, Blue Demon's revenge, King Cuerno vs. Drago, and Mundo & Puma vs. Ryck & the Crenshaw Crew; rewarding long-term viewers while keeping the pacing dynamic. By suspending traditional over-the-top-rope rules, the performers were able to showcase spectacular dives and high-risk manoeuvres, preventing the usual battle royal monotony. The final stretch, a callback to the debut show's Puma vs. Mundo confrontation, was particularly compelling, with resilient counters and climactic moves culminating in Puma hitting the 630 to become the inaugural champion. A flawless example of episodic storytelling meeting high-level wrestling execution."

[8.0] "This was a great hour of wrestling television. There was only one match, the Aztec Warfare Match, but it was really exciting. It was truly a fitting debut for the Title."

[9.0] "The Aztec Warfare match takes up the entirety of this episode, so both have the exact same rating from me. First off I love the gimmick, a Royal Rumble style of match but with pinfalls and submissions works so well. There are a bunch of little moments from everyone that shows up with the clear MVP's being Fenix, Johnny and Puma. Fenix being one of the workhorses for the first half of the match was a great choice and Mundo as number two was excellet as well. Chavo's chairshot fest was a very inteligent and memorable part of the match as well. The ending sequence where Mundo and Puma have their own little one on one match filled with near falls and big spots is a perfect closer and a great way to crown the company's first ever champ"

[8.0] "the very first great match of Lucha Underground and the very first full episode match that was paced very well with many of highs within the match."

[8.0] "Literally a one match show, but that one match was fantastic and interwove a lot of interesting stories together. Aztec Warfare is a really fun match concept as well and it helped add a bit of legitimacy to the victor by making them less likely to win by pure chance like one could in a regular over the top rope battle royale. [MOTN: 20 Man Aztec Warfare Match (Obviously, as it was the only match on the show)]"

[8.0] "An episode that, with only one fight, has been a special event and a very important moment for Lucha Underground because it is the fight that determined the first champion and has been most enjoyable to tell the truth."

[9.0] "This was a great show. They crowned the first Lucha Undergrounf champion in an intense Royal Rumble style match. It was excellent, really intense and exciting. There were some great exchanges, spots and moves. All the rivalries where developed here. I really liked King Cuerno, Drago, Fenix, Son of Havoc, Prince Puma and Johny Mundo here. I think this is a highly recommended match."

[10.0] "All roads from the beginning of the series have led to Aztec Warfare, and it pays off with the first real classic episode. The match format is a fun twist on the Royal Rumble formula, with eliminations via pin/submission rather than over-the-top eliminations, as well as the no-DQ nature played up a bit more (the Rumble is, of course, technically no-DQ as well, but that fact is only occasionally utiliized). Virtually all of the current ongoing storylines - the ascendency of Puma, Puma/Mondo/The Crew, Chavo/Sexy Star/Blue Demon, Drago/Cuerno, Fenix/Muertes etc. - are incorporated into the match effectively, and the pacing is handled well to provide plenty of big spots but also keep up interest during the downtimes. A very enjoyable episode."

[5.0] "This was a standard Lucha Underground spotfest, but at 40 minutes long this match lost its major appeal after about 10 minutes. It was absurd that Sexy Star was in the final 4 over Fenix, Pentagon Jr. , King Cuerno, and Drago. They were all much more interesting characters and better athletes who deserved such a spot over her. Pentagon impressed the most too, considering his criminally short time in the match. I thought the lower-card wrestlers on the roster got too much focus here. And this isn? t even limited to the comedy wrestlers like Sagrada or Escarlata, as I felt all the other jobbers got too much time to shine on their own, falsely teasing that they would have some significant impact before they were then easily put away. Not many of them were very good either, which made their performances, though short, quite wasteful. The performances by all the jobbers, plus the constant downtime that comes from multi-man spotfests where everyone is constantly resting on the outside before running back into the ring for their spot, meant that this match went far too long. There were some cool spots in among all these minutes, but they were too few and far between. **3/4"

[8.0] "Best episode of Lucha Underground by far. The match was really long, but it paid off in the end with all the stories coming together. This match really made me appreciate sticking through with watching each episode leading up to this match, and I am excited to see what will happen from here on out, ****1/4."

[9.0] "The whole show was about a big 20 man Elimination Match to crown first ever LU champion. The match was great, probably ****. I loved how this match was a great set up for new feuds, like Fenix/Mil and Cuerno/Mundo. The whole thing seemed very well worked and Mundo/Puma stuff at the end reminded me Taker and HBK at RR07. I loved the match, as well as whole episode. Thanks Dario."

[8.0] "One match for the whole show. I have already commented about the match, so I stay on my opinion of a ****1/4 Gauntlet match. I can't see why it's called Aztec Warfare match, but it's a good idea to crown a new champion. Well, it's a great show/match to start watching Lucha Underground if you're interested."
