610.03.2025Nevermore42 I cannot in good conscious give this show a rating, since four of the matches are lost to the sands of time. Just looking at the card, I don't think they would have improved the viewing experience, but we'll never know. The show opens with a pretty good match between Ricky Morton and Tommy Rich and the departing Midnight Express. This is followed by the majority of cut content, as Terry Taylor vs. Bill Irwin, Brad Armstrong vs. JW Storm, and the Master Blasters vs. the Southern Boys are all gone. The show comes back to the Fabulous Freebirds vs. the Renegade Warriors in a match that should have been cut. The Freebirds were fat and lazy at this point in their careers, and The Warriors had no clue how to work around that. The Steiner Brothers then defended their United States Tag Team Titles against the Nasty Boys in the match of the night, not that that speaks well for the quality of this show. Next is the final cut match, as we thankfully get to avoid watching the Junkyard Dog vs. Moondog Rex. Doom defend their World Tag Team Titles against the Four Hoursemen in a good match, Stan Hanson defeats Lex Luger in a decent match for his United States Heavyweight Title, and Sting defends his World Heavyweight Title against Sid Vicious in a boring match to close out the show.
715.11.2024hunterp2.0An awful, AWFUL show. Even the good stuff was like 6/10 at best. During Taylor vs Irwin, I screamed "please don't kick out! " multiple times, but it just kept going and going, seemingly forever. The longest 12 minute match in wrestling history. JYD vs Moondog Rex was even worse, but at least it was short. The only highlight of the show was the first couple of minutes of Steiners vs Nasty Boys and even that settled into a fairly average match. A dreadful way to spend 2 hours and 50 minutes of your life.
807.11.2024benh24.0Some decent stuff on the undercard but one cannot ignore the booking debacle in the main event which has actively killed the top babyface and pretty much the entire company. From Robocop to Black Scorpion, the last six months are absolutely tragic.

1011.10.2024Larry6.0This is a hard show to rate since half of the card isn't on Peacock for some reason or another. So I'll obviously just rate what I watched. The best match that I had seen was the nasty boys Vs the Steiners. The second best would be Doom Vs Anderson and Flair. Stan Hanson vs Luger was really good as well. I recommend this show for those three matches.
1231.08.2024crs2857.0Unfortunately Peacock doesnt have several of the matches so could only watch what they had. Doom vs the Four Horsemen was the match of the night for me as they seemed to have good chemistry. Steiners vs Nasty Boys was the best Nasty Boys match I have seen so far. Most of the other matches were solid with the Freebirds and the Renegade Warriors having the least impressive matchup.
1324.08.2024JacquesRougeauCanHaveMyWife4.0First of all I don't know if either the crowd sucked so much or there were some audio issues, but the barely audible reactions really damaged some of the matches. Also a lot of contests were cut for whatever reason, which is a shame, because I was looking forward to seeing Brad Armstrong back, especially since the available matches were so so. The worst match for me was The Steiners vs The Nasties as it had a baffling structure. They started out with big moves and then weren't able to top them, while randomly throwing chair spots in the middle of this. Also The Freebirds vs The Renegades was a slog, Hansen vs Luger wasn't anything special and it was a really anticlimactic way to get the title off Luger and the main event wasn't bad workwise, but the stupid finish ruined it a little bit. When it comes to the good stuff though the opener was very decent with Midnight and Morton carrying it, while The Horsemen vs Doom was the match of the night for me with Arn and Flair looking fantastically as a heel team and making Simmons with Reed look really good. But overall the PPV was pretty mid - there wasn't much happening, the crowd reactions were barely there and the match quality was a big mix bag.

1531.03.2024KingsCrossing5.0As other commenters have noted, the WWE Network version of this show is the same as the original VHS, so it's missing four matches, but as it is the only version that is easily accessible it is what I will be reviewing. You can really feel the Jim Herd influence having a significantly negative impact on WCW by this point, as the booking of Sting's title reign is just awful. The Black Scorpion segment is laughably bad, to the point where I am struggling to think of something more absurd that a promotion has tried to sell as completely serious (and think of the material that covers). The main event finish was ridiculous as well. If you can look beyond the booking issues, there are some good matches here, with the Steiners vs. The Nasty Boys being the easy choice for MOTN, but on the opposite end of the spectrum we have tedious garbage like the Freebirds vs. the Renegade Warriors, which makes even the abridged version of this show feel longer than it actually is. Outside of the wrestling, the show is also hurt by the really subdued crowd, as there are several matches that I think would have played a lot better in front of a more invested audience. I will say, I love the aesthetic of the show, and the Halloween theme comes across really well and gives the entire event a charm that helps make it more enjoyable than it otherwise might be. Skip the Freebirds match, but the rest is at least interesting from a historical perspective, even if it isn't always top notch wrestling.

1808.11.2023Garmonbozia4.0The opener was pretty solid and then the next four matches were kind of bad. The Steiners had a very solid match with the Nasty Boys, as did Doom with the Horsemen. The last two matches were just okay. So overall this event just wasn't anything special.

2002.09.2023Rjepic17.0I actually thought this was a pretty decent show. There was certainly some matches on this card I didn't really care for, but nothing truly awful in my opinion. The WWE Network (and original VHS) version only shows six of the 10 matches that originally aired; so I will only be reviewing those ones as I haven't seen the others. The Steiner's were my MVP's of this show, as they made me legitimately enjoy a Nasty Boys match. I said this one the last Clash I reviewed but I hated the Black Scorpion saga; like most.
2114.08.2023CMFunk0078.0For some reason, Peacock only has the two-hour version up on the network, cutting out the JYD match, as well as the Terry Taylor and other filler matches on the card. I loved this event. There were better ones, but The Steiners/Nasty Boys and the Midnight Express matches were great and the Horsemen/Doom match was good, too. The main event was silly with the Windham thing, but as a kid, I thought it was awesome.

2326.03.2023DanTalksRasslin5.0A pretty middling event overall, with a few fairly notable highlights and a lot of filler. Doom vs. Arn & Flair was quite a good Tag Title match, Hansen vs. Luger was a pretty solid brawl that didn't last longer than it needed to, and the Steiners got a good bout out of the Nasties for the US Tag Title. Midnight Express vs. Morton & Rich (the latter subbing for Gibson) was also pretty solid. On the other hand, Sid wasn't really ready for prime time as a main eventer yet and Sting wasn't yet at a point where he could carry him, making for a somewhat lackluster main event, the Freebirds vs. Renegade Warriors match dragged for at least ten minutes longer than it should've, and the rest really was pure card filler that could've been trimmed off the PPV card (and indeed, much of it was cut from the video and WWE Network versions).

2925.06.2021Tomas Cunha6.0Overall thumbs in the middle, slightly leaning up for Halloween Havoc 90. There are obviously some really fun matches, particularly ME vs. Morton & Rich, Doom vs. Horsemen and Steiners vs. Nasties, but then there? s also the REALLY boring Freebirds/Youngbloods match and this mess of a main-event. Watch it for the good stuff, and maybe the main-event as well just to laugh at how this company treats the World title scene. And they wonder why Sting's first title reign was not a success... Anyway, still a good show with some really bad stuff in the middle.

Halloween Havoc 1990, 7 gute Punkte.
3320.04.2020NoahsPenis8.0I watched the network version which had a lot of the filler which really trimmed down the show and made a quick and enjoyable watch besides that horrible Freebirds match who are consistently the worst part of WCW shows around this time. The other matches were pretty good and while the main event was a little plodding the finish was amazing and shocked the hell out of me. Also the commentary by JR and Dangerouly was top notch
3421.03.2020Mizzle Assault Ant5.0Not the best event. Loved Horsemen vs. Doom, and really liked Steiners/Nasty Boys, Hansen/Luger, and Midnight Express/Morton & Rich. However, hated the Junkyard Dog match, the Freebirds match, and especially the putrid main event, who the hell thought it was a good idea to put Sting and Sid together?
3522.09.2018RatingsMachine6.0This was yet another NWA/WCW PPV that was overloaded with matches that had absolutely no business being on PPV. And on earth decided that the Freebirds and Renegade Warriors should go 17:28?
3603.05.2018leblake3.0I'm surprised to see this event rated as high as it is. There were two good tag matches and a third decent tag match, but everything else, including the two final title matches, were nothing special.

4216.05.2016jackleone6.0The best match of the event is, with surprise, Steiner Brothers vs Nasty Boys. The main event between Sting vs Sid Vicious shows Sid wasn't ready for this and fought badly for most of the time, the overbooking in this case helps with his flaws. Luger vs Stan Hansen isn't a good match, when Doom play as fan favorite against Flair and Anderson. It's a pleasing event to precede Starrcade, there are flaws here and there but it's okay.
4316.05.2016test856.01. Rich/Morton gegen den Express war okay. (3 1/4*) 2. (3*) 4. Das World Tag Team Title Match war dann das MotN. Leider mit einem unklaren Finish. (3 1/2*) 5. Hansen gegen Luger war in Ordnung. Überraschenderweise durfte Hansen hier sogar gewinnen. (3*) 6. ME war dann enttäuschend. (1 1/2*) Durchschnittliche Show mit einem total verbookten ME. Wrestling Crap vom Feinsten.
4409.03.2016Zach4.0Perhaps I don't think highly of Halloween Havoc 1990 because I find a lot of the featured talent consistently un-entertaining. Tommy Rich, Terry Taylor, Bill Irwin, The Southern Boys, The Nasty Boys -- it's a who's who of mediocrity. And it even gets worse with guys like The Master Blasters (so bad) and Moondog Rex. I love the Halloween theme, but you should probably avoid this Havoc.
5018.04.2008Bhandu6.0Dreieinhalb starke Tag Team Matches (Opener, US Tag Titles Match, World Tag Titles Match, bedingt Freebirds vs Youngbloods) hieven den Event auf solides Niveau.
