[5.0] "It's all about one match and the segment afterwards and honestly it's not really worth watching the whole show. Steamboat and Flair once again set the seats on fire with their amazing workrate, delivering a flawless, technical match, which was nicely teased to go for one hour and then Terry attacking Ric was also magnificent, maybe even better than the match itself. But yeah, everything else wasn't that memorable. Lex and Hayes had a decent match I guess, plus SST vs Dynamic Dudes wasn't bad, but those weren't the show stealers. Plus after Flair vs Steamboat ended there was almost no life in this PPV and even though both matches afterwards weren't that bad they felt like a filler."

[6.0] "It's always tricky to rate one match shows like this, but when that match is not only Flair vs. Steamboat, but it's also followed by an all time classic angle with Terry Funk, I feel compelled to still give this a positive grade. Nothing else is really worth watching outside of the Samoan Swat Team vs. The Dynamic Dudes (which is hardly essential viewing - it's just a solid match), but the show being under 2 1/2 hours makes it a fairly easy viewing experience. The US Title booking was bad, but other than that the show was mostly fine. I certainly wouldn't blame anybody for only watching Flair vs. Steamboat (along with the post-match) and skipping the rest, though."

[5.0] "This was a one match show, and they didn't even have the decency to make that match the main event. We open with Doug Gilbert facing the Great Muta in a boring match. I wonder if the match would have been better if the Junkyard Dog was able to be in it. I suspect that it wouldn't be. We then saw Ranger Ross face Butch Reed in a 7 minute rest hold. I mean "match." The only positive is that there were no botches. Of course, to botch, you actually have to do something. We then got a Bullrope Match between Bob Orton and Dick Murdoch. This was actually one of the better matches of the night, although it was awful short for a Bullrope Match. We then got the Dynamic Dudes against the Samoan SWAT Team in something that was definitely a match that I watched. Lex Lugar then defended his United States Heavyweight Title against Michael Hayes in a match that was fine, nothing more. We then got to see Sting defend his World Television Title in a 2-minute train wreck against the Iron Sheik, who needs to just stop. The quality then takes a massive jump, as we hit the Match of the Night, and the conclusion of the trilogy between Ric Flair and Ricky Steamboat over the World Heavyweight Title. This exceeded the rest of their outings, and makes this show worth watching, even if nothing else on it does. Inexplicably, they decided not to end the show on a high note, as we get the World Tag Team Title match between the Road Warriors and the Varsity Club, complete with special guest referee Nikita Koloff and screwy finish. Finally, we continue our loss of quality in the form of the Main Event of the night. Someone actually looked at a card featuring Steamboat and Flair and said, "You know who should close the show? Dan Spivey." That's right. It's the Varsity Club versus the First Family of Wrestling, complete with already injured Rick Steiner, for the United States Tag Team Titles, and it's every bit as bad as that sounds."

[4.0] "This is essentially a one match show; although as I'll talk about there was another match I actually liked from this show. Pretty disappointing opening effort for WrestleWar as an event; but they didn't even have the vision to do a WARGAMES match on these shows yet. This is the show that sees the third match in the classic trilogy of Steamboat/Flair. This show also marks the comeback to professional wrestling of Terry Funk; who is a special guest judge in case Steamboat/Flair go to the time limit; but I'll talk more about that in my review of the match."

[8.0] "I thoroughly enjoyed this card a lot. The Dynamic Dudes/SST match was good, as was Luger vs. Hayes surprisingly. Steamboat/Flair is an absolute classic. Sting/Sheik was ok for a 3-minute match, but Reed/Ranger Ross was dogshit. It also marked the beginning of the Ric Flair/Terry Funk feud, one of my all-time favorite feuds."

[4.0] "This is a one match show. Flair/Steamboat in their classic trilogy which helped set up Flairs legendary feud with Terry Funk. But the rest of the card had a lot of garbage on it. Booking Flair/Steamboat in the middle of the show made no sense!"

[7.0] "The Good - Steamboat and Flair complete their classic trilogy, Great Muts doing Great Muta things. Terry Funk angle. The tags were pretty good for undercard of the time. The bad - Iron Sheik match was as good as you think a 1989 Sheik match is going to be, the Ranger Ross match was terrible. The ugly - The bull rope match was pitifully awful, like two old drunks fighting at kicking out time, the most entertaining part was watching to see if Murdochs T-shirt would contain his belly. Just awful."

[6.0] "Once again, this show was mostly carried by Ric Flair vs. Ricky Steamboat and the badass angle with Terry Funk. The rest of the card was okay at best, though it was really weird to have two matches follow the real main event, Flair vs. Steamboat."

[5.0] "Like Chi-Town Heat and Clash of Champions 6, this is largely a one match card, built around the true wrestling artistry that is Flair-Steamboat. The conclusion to the trilogy is an all-time great match that still holds up to this day, a perfect example of psychology and storytelling. Which is good, since the rest of this card is largely just meh. It's always fun seeing the Great Muta, especially so early on here, and the Dynamic Dudes are a hilarious artifact of history - I can never look at Johnny Ace without seeing the wheezy backstage stooge he'll become - but, really. Lex Luger and Michael Hayes? Sting and the Sheik? Ranger Ross? Ugh. A dreadful undercard propped up by a truly transcendent match, and then the show peters out with two serviceable but unremarkable tag matches. Watch Flair and Steamboat and skip the rest, honestly."

[6.0] "There is a single match worth of your time in this event, Ric Flair vs Ricky Steamboat. The two main events are short and uninteresting, when Luger vs Hayes is at least watchable. I don't like how Iron Sheik was squashed by Sting in two minutes. Recommended only for a great match."

[8.0] "This show contains one of my single favorite matches of all time, the conclusion of Flair and Steamboat's classic 1989 trilogy, and that match along with its masterful follow-up involving Terry Funk's turn make it worth seeing alone. While the rest of the card isn't nearly as strong, there's still some pretty good stuff - the Hayes-Luger match in particular (looking back on some of these shows, I think Luger during this period was actually pretty underrated); also the Road Warriors-Varisty Club tag match (while it lasted) and the Dudes-Samoan SWAT Team. I do question not putting Flair-Steamboat in the last slot of the night, as nothing could follow that."

[10.0] "This event deserves a much better rating, it includes not only one of the best matches I've ever seen but also one of the greatest segments in wrestling history, the post match attack by Terry Funk. That moment is so intense, it's incredible even so many years later. There are also some good tag matches, particularly LOD vs. Varsity Club and, surprisingly, Dynamic Dudes vs. Samoan Swat Team. I really enjoyed this card for the most part, so give it more respect!"
