Das 6-Man Tag und die Damen waren leider ein ziemlicher Durchhänger, bis der Main Event dann wieder hervorragend war. |
| 6 | 07.01.2025 | Dkex | 8.0 | Wie die letzten Wochen eröffnet Collision mit kurzen Skits, um die wichtigsten Matches und Segmente zu hypen, ich finde das großartig. Das Ladder Match zwischen Andrade und Buddy Murphy war ein extrem starker Opener. Ich hab mich riesig gefreut, dass Matthews endlich mal ein langes und ordentlich aufgebautes Singles Match bekommt und zeigen kann, wie unfassbar gut er ist. Das war mein MotN. Miro fehdet jetzt gegen Aaron Solo und QTV? Was zur Hölle? Darby vs. Minoru Suzuki war ein guter Styles Clash, der besser funktioniert hat, als ich befürchtet habe. Direkt im Anschluss meldet sich Christian Cage zur Wort, das war definitiv unterhaltsam. Danach gibt es eine gute Videopromo in Richtung Shida, um deren Titelmatch bei Dynamite zu hypen. Samoa Joe macht dann kurzen Prozess mit Gravity. Ein bisschen überraschend, wenn man bedenkt, dass er zu der Zeit im Halbfinale des No.1 Contender Tuniers für den TV Title steht. Für den Squash hätte man jemand Anderes wählen sollen. CM Punk hält In-Ring eine gute Promo, die aber etwas zu lange braucht, um zum Punkt zu kommen. Sobald Ricky Starks dazu kommt, wird das Segment nochmal besser. Das Trios Match war ein solider kleiner Filler, der durchaus zu unterhalten wusste. Wie so oft war das Damenmatch das uninteressanteste Match des Abends. Schön, dass Mercedes Martinez zurück ist, ihr Kampf mit Kiera Hogan war leider nicht mehr als okay. Immerhin macht man damit ein absolutes Minimum an Aufbau für ein TBS Title Match, das ist aber viel zu wenig. Der Main Event war wie erwartet richtig stark, wenn auch nicht fantastisch. Cole und MJF sind weiterhin sehr unterhaltsam als Team und haben eine tolle Chemie, FTR sind weiterhin das wahrscheinlich beste Tag Team der Welt, also konnte eigentlich nicht viel schiefgehen. Das Aftermath war wirklich super wirkt wie der tatsächliche Faceturn von MJF. |

Suzuki-Darby und das Ladder Match waren beide gut, aber mir fehlt die emotionale Tragweite. Schönes Moves kann man überall sehen. Joe-Gravity, Hogan-Martinez und das Six Man Tag waren gleich vollkommen bedeutungslos. Das Promo-Segment zwischen Punk und Starks war in Ordnung, aber ich brauche nicht noch einen bedeutungslosen Gürtel, der bei AEW herumschwebt. Irgendwann hat jeder einen. Auch war es sehr seltsam, dass Tony Schiavone am Ende die Ankündigung von Ricky Steamboat machte. Punk hat also hellseherische Kräfte, wusste dass Starks ihn unterbrechen würde und hat Steamboat vor der Show bereits angerufen und vor dem Segment bereits Tony gesagt, dass er es dann ankündigen kann. Sehr konstruiert. Das Main Event war OK. Die Tag Titles geraten ein bisschen in den Hintergrund, während die Geschichte um MJF und Adam Cole erzählt wird. Ebenso wird zur Nebensache, dass Dax den World Champion gepinnt hat. Das ist alles nicht so geschickt, um die Titles wichtig darzustellen. Die Story ist aber ganz nett und die Spannung, die am Ende in der Luft lag, ob einer gegen den anderen turnt, tatsächlich groß. |

Punk and Starks promo was a bit weird at times but overall good and the "X" on the title was an omg moment. Allin vs. Suzuki was short but very enjoyable, love to see Suzuki on Tv. Martinez vs. Hogan was alright and finally we are getting some stories revolving the women's division. Ftr vs. Cole/Mjf was a great main event and the post-match was amazing, very hyped for the future of these two. Overalll: it was a great show, the strongest episode of Collision so far, with quality matches and stories. |

Ist er doch der bisher am schwächsten dargestellte der 3. Macht nicht viel Sinn. Wrestlerisch war das dann ganz ordentliche bis zu der Szene mit den Handschellen. Auch der Eingriff von Julia passte so gar nicht zu dem Gimmick das sie bisher so hatte. Das Ende hat mir also nicht wirklich gefallen, aber trotzdem haben beide Männer natürlich viel riskiert hier. Das war schon ok. Allin gegen Suzuki ist schon eine wilde Paarung. Ich hätte gerne ein paar Minuten mehr gesehen, dann wäre das auch noch besser gewesen. Joe gegen Gravity in 2 Minuten war natürlich nichts. Das Trios Match war dann wieder ganz gut. BCG ist einfach gut und die Gegner machen eh immer ein Match besser. Martinez gegen Hogan war ganz hett, aber nichts was in Erinnerung bleibt. MOTN ist der Main Event. Das war ein richtig gutes Titelmatch. FTR rocken eh immer und die Dynamik zwischen MJF und Cole ist auch sehr gut. Gutes Wrestling, schöne Story. Das passte alles. |

Und immer wieder wenn ich die beiden sehe, denke ich an Charlotte Flair und Rhea Ripley bei der WWE. Auch bei ihren ersten aufeinander treffen bei der 1. Ausgabe von Collision haben sie schon Parallelen zu Ihren Lebensgefährtinen gezeigt. Andrade gewann ja auch mit dem Figure 8. Das Ladder Match hier war ein Mega Spotfest! Sollte man aufjedenfall gesehen haben (****1/4). Darby Allin vs. Minoru Suzuki war auch gut. Darby wird das ganze Match über von Suzuki zerstört, bleibt aber niemals liegen und holt sich dann doch noch den Sieg. Sehr gut (***3/4). Danach Squasht Samoa Joe Gravity weg und es folgen 2 Solide Matches. Mehr aber nicht und erst der Main Event ist wieder interessant. FTR bzw. Dax Harwood besiegen/besiegt MJF & Adam Cole um die AEW World Tag Team Championship's. Ich denke das Dax dadurch definitiv ein World Championship Match bekommen wird gegen MJF. Jedenfalls gefällt mir die Storyline rund um MJF und Adam Cole wirklich ganz gut und ich bin gespannt wo das hinführen wird (****1/4). Insgesamt bekommt die Show von mir 8 Punkte. |

Andrade vs Buddy was pretty good and the clear MOTN. Nothing revolutionary, but still with some exciting ladder spots, strong bumping/selling, and some great strikes. At times they could've sold longer for their bigger bumps, though. Everything with the handcuffs and Julia was annoyingly cheesy, but it was cathartic seeing Andrade still win. ***1/4 - ***1/2. Miro getting attacked backstage by a rando was pretty worthless. Darby vs Suzuki was alright. Darby's daredevil attacks were exciting, and he sold, bumped, and fired up really well. Suzuki was mostly decent but did have a few overly weak strikes, and his limited physicality unfortunately made for some awkward bumps. Darby carried him well, though. **3/4. Christian's post-match promo attacking Darby was well-delivered. Joe vs Gravity was a fine squash. Gravity is AEW's worst lucha guy thus far, with his ridiculous gimmick and uninteresting/unconvincing movements and flips. Joe embarrassing him and beating him down was satisfying. Too short; no rating. Punk's promo was typically very well-delivered, and the way he built up the reveal of the "Real" World Title was very good. Starks' responding promo was likewise very good, with a few great lines. The 6-man tag was fine. The heels had some fun beatdown work and arrogant showboating, but the babyfaces, aside from a handful of cool high-flying spots, were far too bland as characters, and they were also overly choreographed at times. **1/2. Martinez vs Kiera was overly long with awkward chemistry and nothing remotely memorable. Martinez's offence was pretty lumbering but at least decently physical at points. Kiera had a few moments of okay agility but otherwise offered nothing interesting. **1/4. The post-match angle with Statlander and Willow wasn't very interesting. FTR vs Cole & MJF was yet another in the line of perfectly alright FTR matches. Yes, I'm saying this was about even to the 2 "famous" FTR-vs-Jay-and-Juice matches. It's just that FTR's "traditional" style is usually so basic and unadventurous that I fail to get into their matches unless their opponents counter by being far more creative and flashy, which once again wasn't the case here. At least they were all energetic, and basically every exchange/spot was well-executed. MJF's entertaining taunts and hyping-up of the crowd were the best moments, and even his selling/bumping wasn't as goofy as it can often be. Cole was the obvious sore thumb here, with his kick spam (especially his superkicks) being very boring, and he offered literally nothing else other than with his and MJF's loveably goofy tag efforts. The various run-on trades and counters in the final 1/3rd were mostly fun, at least whenever Cole wasn't involved. ***. The post-match tease of MJF and Cole breaking up was cheesy, but it worked with how lovably goofy their friendship is know to be, so I didn't mind it. |

Opener war sehr ordentlich und mit Minoru Suzuki hatte man im zweiten Match eine schöne Überraschung. Darby fliegt mit seinem ersten Dive auch direkt mal daneben. Match sonst aber ganz cool. Joa squasht dann Gravitiy weg, was mir sehr gefallen hat, da ich kein Fan von Gravity bin. BC Gold mausern sich auch immer mehr zu einem guten Stable und gewinnen hier ein nettes Match. Martinez vs. Hogan wirkte wieder etwas lieblos auf die Card gesetzt, war aber sonst okay und immerhin sieht mal Statlander mal wieder. Main Event war MOTN und einfach gut. Tolle Story mit Cole und MFJ, die dem großen Tag Team FTR einfach nicht gewachsen sind. Dass sogar MJF den Pin frisst und es noch keinen Turn gibt, fand ich überraschend aber gut gemacht. |

Es gab kreative und außergewöhnliche Spots, sowohl als auch aber gute Action in vorm vom klassischen Wrestling. Es gab harte Strikes und auch Spannung. Ich bin gespannt wie man die Story fortsetzten wird (****). Darby Allin vs. Minoru Suzuki war eine nette Überraschung mit der ich nicht gerechnet habe. Das Match find sehr schwungvoll an mit Allins selbstzerstörerischer Art. Danach hat das Match leider was an Schwung verloren und es gab nicht die beste Chemie zwischen den beiden. Gegen ende wurde es dann nochmal besser und es gab ein gutes finish (***). Action Andretti, Darius Martin & El Hijo del Vikingo vs. Austin Gunn, Colten Gunn & Juice Robinson war soweit ein unterhaltsames Match. Bullet Club dominierte die meiste Zeit während das andere Team trotzdem ihre Moves zeigen konnte. Nichts besonderes aber auch nicht schlecht (***). Kiera Hogan vs. Mercedes Martinez erschien mir etwas wahllos als Ansetzung. Das Match selber war ok konnte mich aber nicht so richtig abholen. Ich weiß auch nicht was ich von dem Ende mit dem TBS Titel halten soll, ein Match was ich persönlich nicht bei einem PPV brauche. In einer Weekly Show vielleicht ganz unterhaltsam (** 1/2). Adam Cole & MJF vs. Cash Wheeler & Dax Harwood war ein super Main Event. Am Anfang fehlte vielleicht die gewisse Ernsthaftigkeit, jedoch entwickelte sich das Match mehr und mehr. MJF hat mir sehr gut gefallen, vor allem wie sich sein Charakter entwickelt hat und das er Cole am ende sogar rettete. Wie in jedem FTR Match auch hier wieder glaubwürdige und gute near falls (**** 1/4). |

Props to Julia for taking the bump off the ladder and props to Buddy for catching her perfectly. My personal highlight was the sunset flip into the ladder bridge, sick sick stuff. Suzuki showing up was a legitimate shock, even more shocking was him and Darby putting on an awesome fast pace match. Darby bumped like a boss and Suzuki looked better than he has in most of his AEW dates. Another great ending too. Joe/Gravity, the six-man, and Mercedes/Hogan were all fine and mostly forgettable, but each had their moments. Joe mocking Gravity was hilarious, Vikingo's boosted dive to the outside was awesome (+ some good Juice Robinson shenanigans), and Mercedes vs. Hogan did more set up for the women's division then most matches have recently, with both women looking really solid. FTR vs. Better than You Bay Bay was great. Really loving the storyline with Cole and MJF, they made the right decision keeping them together here. FTR are just excellent tag team wrestlers and once again showed the absolute fundamentals of how to do it. Simple, effective storytelling throughout and I personally loved the finish. Of course all that leaves out Punk and Starks delivering a great back and forth promo that had the crowd torn throughout. Both guys are absolute stars and are going to tear the place down next week. One of my favorite promo segs of the year. |

Makes zero sense that a dude so obsessed with being champ, and with Cole now as backup, would not come out and at least tell Punk that Punk is delusional. Even if he just dismissively told Punk - Hey, go ahead, keep pretending and we will settle this later. My other gripe is the ten dudes getting a ton of air time, while Hobbs still works dark matches. You can't trim five minutes off the regularly 20-30 minute main events and ten minutes off the weekly Punk promo and fit in an actual storyline for Hobbs? Or Ethan Page or another ladies segment? Collision is a full 2 hours just like Dynamite and needs to start doing its share of lifting for this bloated roster, not just the ten selective dudes lucky enough to get leisurely, regular air time. Episode itself was fire, with my favorite match being the BCG trios, for the zany characters. The post main event angle was also soooo good, I loved it even though I wanted BTYBB to win. |
