On 11.04.2025 at the Factory Theatre in New South Wales, Australia, CHEVS (formerly known as Charli Evans) defeated Jessica Troy in an intense match lasting over 40 minutes to become the new PWA Heavyweight Champion. Since Pro Wrestling Australia's inception in 2007, only two women have ever held the PWA Heavyweight Title -- CHEVS now joins that exclusive list. The recent success of 1 Called Manders extended beyond his 16 Carat Gold Tournament 2025 victory. On 05.04.2025 at wXw's 16 Carat Gold Revenge in Frankfurt, Manders defeated Elijah Blum to become the new wXw Unified World Wrestling Champion -- arguably the top professional wrestling title in all of Germany. Manders then capped off his historic week by successfully defending the Unified World Wrestling Championship against Axel Tischer on 06.04.2025. AKIRA debuted on the American independent circuit in 2018 and quickly made a name for himself before signing with MLW in 2023. Since then, he has become a top star for Major League Wrestling and has regularly performed for Big Japan Pro Wrestling. On 29.03.2025 at Korakuen Hall, AKIRA defeated Hideyoshi Kamitani to win the BJW Death Match Heavyweight Title, marking his first title victory in Japan. In the final round of this year's New Japan Cup 2025, held on 20.03.2025, David Finlay defeated Shota Umino at Aore Nagaoka in Niigata to claim the tournament victory. "The Rebel" worked his way through EVIL, Yuya Uemura, and Zack Sabre Jr. to reach the finals. After the match, Finlay confronted IWGP World Heavyweight Champion Hirooki Goto, whom he will challenge for the title at Sakura Genesis on 05.04.2025. Former CMLL World Women's Champion Stephanie Vaquer quickly ascended through the ranks of WWE NXT's women's division, capturing the North American Championship last month at the Vengeance Day PLE. However, Vaquer's rapid success in NXT didn't stop there. In the main event of the Roadblock TV special on 11.03.2025, Vaquer put her North American Championship on the line against Giulia's WWE NXT Women's Title. In a hard-fought contest, Vaquer defeated "The Beautiful Madness" to become a double champion. This past weekend, the 2025 edition of wXw's 16 Carat Gold Tournament took place over three nights in Oberhausen. Featuring several memorable performances, 1 Called Manders defeated BJW's Daisuke Sekimoto in the first round, TNA's Leon Slater in the second round, TNA's Masha Slamovich in the semifinals, and Ahura in the finals to win the prestigious tournament. It is hard to recall a time when a professional wrestling storyline has captured mainstream attention as much as John Cena's heel turn at WWE Elimination Chamber this past weekend. In the midst of his retirement tour, Cena defeated CM Punk, Damian Priest, Drew McIntyre, Logan Paul, and Seth Rollins to win his third-ever Elimination Chamber match, earning an Undisputed WWE Title shot against Cody Rhodes at WrestleMania 41. Not only did Cena win the Elimination Chamber match, but in a moment that will undoubtedly be remembered for years, he delivered a low blow to Rhodes and aligned himself with the villainous Rock.

TJ Charles was born in Ireland, where he began his wrestling career. In 2013, he decided to move to Spain, specifically to Barcelona. Since then, he has become a mainstay of the Iberian wrestling scene, first gaining recognition as part of the tag team Insurgent.es. Post-COVID, he solidified his position as a main eventer, notably winning the Resist Condal Championship in 2021 by defeating Guillermo. Since then, the two have continued to clash while setting their sights on the company's top title, the RIOT Absolute Championship. Guillermo was the first to capture it in 2023 in a 3-Way Match, which also included TJ Charles. The Irishman initially failed in 2024 to claim the title but finally succeeded last weekend in a Three Stages of Hell Match.

The story of Hirooki Goto is one defined by dedication and perseverance. Goto debuted as a junior heavyweight for NJPW after graduating from their dojo in 2003. By 2007, following an extended tour in Mexico, Goto transitioned to the heavyweight division. Since then, Goto has been a mainstay for the company, though he has unsuccessfully challenged for the IWGP World Heavyweight Championship on numerous occasions. However, at NJPW The New Beginning In Osaka 2025 on 11.02.2025, Goto finally had his moment to shine. In the main event, Goto pinned champion Zack Sabre Jr. to capture the IWGP World Heavyweight Title for the very first time. Just days before AEW officially announced his release from his contract, "Absolute" Ricky Starks made his return to DEFY Wrestling in Seattle, Washington for the first time since 2018. At WWE Saturday Night's Main Event on 25.01.2025, Jey Uso unsuccessfully challenged Gunther for the WWE World Heavyweight Title, leading many to believe that his time to shine would be indefinitely delayed. However, on 01.02.2025, Jey outlasted 29 other competitors to win the Royal Rumble Match. He last eliminated John Cena, securing his spot in the main event of WrestleMania 41 in April. It remains to be seen which world championship Jey will challenge for -- whether it's Cody Rhodes and the Undisputed WWE Championship, or a potential rematch against Gunther for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship.

After nearly 15 years with his home promotion of Michinoku Pro Wrestling, MUSASHI departed in 2024 to join All Japan Pro Wrestling. He earned a shot at the prestigious AJPW World Junior Heavyweight Title on 26.01.2025. After a hard-fought match against champion Naruki Doi, it was MUSASHI who had his arm raised in victory at the end of the contest. Welcome to the Platinum Era of NXT! Oba Femi has been one of the standout successes of WWE's NIL program, having been scouted by the company after winning multiple shot put titles in college. At WWE Deadline on 12.12.2024, the 6'6", 300-pound Femi won the Iron Survivor Challenge Match, become the new number one contender for the WWE NXT Championship. Just a few weeks later, on the special New Year's Evil edition of NXT on 07.01.2025, Femi pinned champion Trick Williams in a Triple Threat Match to claim the NXT Title for the first time.

As one-half of the AJPW World Tag Team Champions alongside his brother, Jun Saito had an immensely successful 2024. However, no one could have imagined just how spectacularly his year would end. On 31.12.2024, at AJPW New Year's Eve 2024, Jun defeated Davey Boy Smith Jr. to win the Triple Crown Championship, marking the first major singles title of his career. Since arriving in AEW and ROH, few wrestlers have managed to turn heads like Mexico's Komander. On the 11.08.2024 edition of WWE SmackDown, general manager Nick Aldis unveiled a new title: the WWE Women's United States Championship. To determine the first champion, a tournament was held. Chelsea Green, perceived by many fans as an underdog, defeated Bianca Belair and Blair Davenport in the first round, then overcame Bayley in the semi finals. In the finals of the tournament, which took place on a special edition of Saturday Night's Main Event on 14.12.2024, Green pinned Michin to become the inaugural WWE Women's United States Champion, marking her first singles title victory in WWE since joining the company in 2018.

Meiko Satomura announced in November that she would be retiring from professional wrestling on 29.04.2025, 30 years after her debut match in GAEA. On 08.12.2024 at Sendai Girls Big Show In Sendai, Satomura defeated her protégé DASH Chisako to win the Sendai Girls World Title. Not only does this mark the second time the "Living Legend Of Joshi Puroresu" has won the Sendai Girls World Title, but it is her first reign since she became the inaugural Sendai Girls World Champion in 2015. After being absent from WWE TV programming for a total of seven months, Shinsuke Nakamura returned to Friday Night SmackDown on 15.11.2024. For a period of time, wrestling fans wondered if Daniel Garcia would remain with AEW or sign a contract with WWE. In her final night as a professional wrestler, Sawyer Wreck went out with what was arguably the greatest night of her career. On 16.11.2024, at GCW Nick Gage Invitational 9, Wreck defeated NGI7 winner John Wayne Murdoch in the opening round. She then followed that up with a victory over international deathmatch star Drew Parker in the semi final round. The tournament finals then saw the "Matriach Of Mayhem" take on Brandon Kirk for his GCW Ultraviolent Title. Wreck pinned Kirk to win the NGI9 and became the new GCW Ultraviolent Champion in the process. She announced following the match that she would be vacating the Ultraviolent Championship and that a new champion would be crowned at GCW's upcoming Hammerstein Ballroom show on 19.01.2025. Ever since he was a child, Davey Boy Smith Jr. dreamt of one day of hoisting the Triple Crown Championship above his head. On 04.11.2024 at AJPW Giant Series 2024 - Tag 8, Smith challenged champion Yuma Aoyagi for that very title. Late in the match, Aoyagi showed fighting spirit when he kicked out of a Saito suplex from Smith at the count of one. Finally, however, a powerbomb by "Bulldog" was able to put Aoyagi down at the 22:06 mark. Winning the top championship of any wrestling promotion is an incredible achievement. Winning ANOTHER world title in the same country and holding both belts simultaneously is something that does very rarely happen, but that's just what 24-year-old Peter Tihanyi did this past weekend. Winning his right to challenge for the title by winning the Battlefield battle royale in September, he beat champion Toni Harting at GWF Legacy 29 and now not only holds the GWF World Title, but also the wXw Unified World Wrestling Title he won at wXw World Tag Festival in October.

Not even counting her appearance in a music video starring Will Ferrell on HBO's Last Week Tonight With John Oliver, Masha Slamovich had quite a week. At TNA Bound For Glory 2024 on 26.10.2024, Slamovich challenged and defeated Jordynne Grace for the TNA Knockouts World Championship. After five years of being with the company, Masha finally won the most coveted prize by women in TNA: the Knockouts World Title. Since aligning himself with Don Callis, the rise of Konosuke Takeshita in All Elite Wrestling has been a sight to behold. After Takeshita interrupted a stellar AEW International Title match between Will Ospreay and Ricochet on the 02.10.2024 edition of Dynamite, a new match was scheduled for the WrestleDream 2024 PPV: Ospreay vs. Ricochet vs. Takeshita. The Irish-born Anita Vaughan has been on a steady trajectory upward since she first made her debut for wXw earlier this year. On 06.10.2024, at the Femmes Fatales 2024 event, Vaughan defeated Rhio in the semi-finals of the Femme Fatales tournament, followed by a victory over Debbie Keitel in the finals. Later that evening, at World Tag Team Festival 2024 - Tag 3, "AV" pinned Levaniel to win the wXw Shotgun Title, and thus, she became the first female Shotgun Champion in the company's history. For nearly 15 years, Jey Uso wrestled alongside his brother as a tag team wrestler as one-half of The Usos. However, in 2023, The Usos dissolved after turmoil arose within The Bloodline. In addition to being a mainstay at Beyond Wrestling and Wrestling Open in New England, Dezmond Cole has been rising the ranks of Limitless Wrestling in Maine since he first made his debut there in 2022. On 17.08.2024, Cole won the prestigious Vacationland Cup tournament and earned himself a future title shot against Channing Thomas for the Limitless World Championship. Just one month later, on 21.09.2024 at Limitless 9 Lives, "Da Big Boofa" was able to win the first world championship of his young career when he defeated Thomas to become the new Limitless World Champion.

This year, CMLL's "Mad Scientist" Hechicero has been a revelation to pro wrestling fans worldwide. Ever since making his debut in AEW, the masked man has been turning heads week after week. Furthermore, on 13.09.2024 at CMLL 91. Aniversario at Arena Mexico, Hechicero competed in one of the biggest matches of his career to date. Hechicero, Euforia, Esfinge, and Valiente competed in a four-way elimination match, with the last individual taking a fall being forced to unmask. Euforia first eliminated Esfinge by submission, followed by Hechicero eliminating Valiente. After nearly 40 minutes of action, the "Mad Scientist" of CMLL forced Euforia to tap out, claiming the mask of Euforia in the process. At a DDT event in Osaka on 07.09.2024, "Sexy" Yuki Iino defeated KANON to win the Black Right To Challenge Anytime, Anywhere Shield. As a result, Iino earned the right to challenge for a DDT championship of his choosing at any time and any place. Following a successful defense of the DDT Universal Championship by MAO against Fuminori Abe on 08.09.2024, Yuki Iino emerged from backstage and cashed in his title shot on the exhausted champion. After just a little over one minute of action, Iino hit MAO with a spear and pinned him to become DDT Universal Champion for the first time, thereby putting an end to MAO's record-setting DDT Universal Title reign at 301 days.

On 30.08.2024 at TNA Emergence 2024, Zachary Wentz defeated Mike Bailey, Hammerstone, Laredo Kid, Jason Hotch, and Riley Osbourne in an Ultimate X Match to become the new X-Division Champion. This victory for Wentz marked the first time he has won a singles title in TNA. Additionally, just two days later, Wentz defeated his former Rascalz tag team partner Wes Lee at WWE NXT No Mercy 2024 in a grudge match. After winning the Owen Hart Foundation 2024 Men's Tournament in July, Bryan Danielson earned the right to challenge Swerve Strickland for the AEW World Championship at All In London 2024 on 25.08.2024. Danielson declared that if he was not able to defeat Swerve at Wembley Stadium, then his career would be over. In a classic match, with his wife and children watching on closely at ringside, Danielson submitted Swerve Strickland to become the twelfth-ever AEW World Champion. On 18.08.2024, Zack Sabre Jr. defeated Yota Tsuji in the finals of this year's G1 Climax tournament. With his victory, ZSJ became the first British wrestler to win the tournament and only the fourth-ever gaijin to claim the prestigious prize. Instead of challenging for the IWGP World Heavyweight Title at Wrestle Kingdom in January, Sabre announced following his tournament win that he will take his title shot against Tetsuya Naito on 14.10.2024 at NJPW King Of Pro Wrestling. B. Cool won the Loco Rumble at an event in Dublin, Ireland on 20.01.2024, earning himself an OTT World Championship match. At OTT ScrapperMania VIII - Tag 2 on 10.08.2024, B. Cool agreed to put his OTT World Title shot on the line in an eight-man tag team match against The Draw. As a result of B. Cool and his team winning, The Draw was forced to disband their stable. Following the tag bout, OTT World Champion Trent Seven stormed the ring, and a match between Seven and B. Cool for the OTT World Title began. With help from referee Foxy, B. Cool pinned Trent Seven to become the new OTT World Champion.

In May, Gunther defeated Randy Orton in the finals of the 2024 King Of The Ring tournament, earning himself a WWE World Heavyweight Title opportunity against Damian Priest at WWE SummerSlam In Cleveland. During the match on 03.08.2024, Finn Balor turned on his Judgment Day stablemate Damian Priest, which allowed Gunther to capitalize on his injured opponent. Gunther then submitted Priest to become the new WWE World Heavyweight Champion, marking his first WWE World Championship win of his career.

On 28.07.2024, at Stardom Sapporo World Rendezvous, Natsuko Tora defeated Maika to win the World Of Stardom Championship. Tora became the eighteenth World Of Stardom Champion and earned the first singles title of her career. Since 2017, Natsuko Tora has been the leader of the Oedo Tai faction. However, after winning the World of Stardom Title, she surprisingly announced that Oedo Tai was no more and introduced a new group called HATE. After being surprisingly let go by WWE last year, Nic Nemeth debuted for TNA Wrestling at the beginning of 2024. While competing for TNA, Nemeth went on to win championships elsewhere, capturing the AAA Mega Title in Mexico, as well as the IWGP Global Heavyweight Title in Japan. At TNA Slammiversary 2024 on 20.07.2024, Nemeth faced Frankie Kazarian, Joe Hendry, Josh Alexander, Steve Maclin, and then-champion Moose in an elimination match for the prestigious TNA World Championship. After an impressive showing (but ultimately falling short) in the NJPW Best Of The Super Junior 31 tournament, the future seemed uncertain for DOUKI of Just 5 Guys. However, DOUKI was granted a shot at the IWGP Junior Heavyweight Championship against El Desperado at NJPW New Japan Soul 2024 - Tag 7. Desperado had been the one to eliminate DOUKI from the Best Of The Super Junior 31 tournament, leading many fans to anticipate a successful title defense by the reigning champion. Yet, in a surprising turn of events, DOUKI pinned Desperado at the NJPW event on May 7, 2024, capturing the IWGP Junior Heavyweight Title. This victory marked DOUKI's first championship in his 13-year pro wrestling career.

Following a backstage incident that took place between Jack Perry and CM Punk at AEW All In London 2023, Perry was suspended indefinitely by AEW management. Perry would reemerge at a New Japan Pro Wrestling event in Tokyo on 06.03.2024 under the new moniker of "Scapegoat." A few months later, Perry returned to All Elite Wrestling and quickly aligned himself with The Elite's Matthew Jackson, Nicholas Jackson, and Kazuchika Okada. Jeff Cobb has been wrestling in New Japan Pro-Wrestling since 2017. He has been trying to win some singles gold since he first arrived on the cerulean blue mat. After winning the NEVER Openweight Championship in 2019, Cobb immediately lost the title one month later. He failed to win a title on two more occasions before having yet another chance to win a title last weekend at Wrestling Dontaku in Fukuoka where he faced the NJPW World TV Champion Zack Sabre Jr. The dry spell without a singles title in NJPW was over when Cobb hit the Tour Of The Island to win the Championship, his first after five long years. The rise of young Suzu Suzuki in World Wonder Ring Stardom continued last weekend when the 21-year-old former Death Match wrestler came through the grueling long 5STAR Grand Prix and faced Donna del Mondo's Maika in the tournament final. In an outstanding match prodigy Suzuki was able to overcome Maika after fourteen minutes to win the most prestigious Joshi tournament's of them all. The hungarian grabbed the opportunity by his horns and defeated Mike D to the delight of the fans to become the new WrestlingKULT Champion! It's the best year of his career so far, with him reaching the semi-finals of the wXw 16 Carat Gold tournament and now winning his first ever singles title in Germany. The final of the thirty-third edition of the G1 Climax was contested between last year's winner Kazuchika Okada and two time winner Tetsuya Naito, a battle between great rivals. Just days prior to the final the charismatic leader of Los Ingobernables de Japón overcame the massive Hikuleo in the quartfinals and Will Ospreay in the semi final to qualify himself for his fourth G1 Climax final in his career. To honor the legendary El Santo once again CMLL hosted the annual Leyenda de Plata tournament and the final of it took place at the Arena Mexico between New Japan Pro Wrestling's Rocky Romero and young and upcoming Mascara Dorada 2.0. Yet, in that time he was never able to really break out as a singles wrestler like he did in other promotions all over the world.
