Renee Paquette

[8.0] "Besides commentary, Renee Young/Paquette has been great at what she does, and makes wrestling interviews *feel like* wrestling interviews. I cannot say the same thing for the likes of Charly Caruso, Byron Saxton, and other backstage interviewers we have seen over the last few years. She also has the voice of an interviewer and has good emotions whenever something is happening backstage, and her 'Close-Up' AEW show is worth a watch and listen if you haven't already. She interviews wrestlers who have a huge backstory to tell to AEW audiences. Of course the biggest flaw with Renee's career so far has been commentary; you might know, she was RAW's commentator for a lot of 2018 and 2019 and yeah, she did NOT fit in very well with the commentary booth, very often being overshadowed by seasoned-veterans like Michael Cole and Corey Graves. Besides the commentary criticisms, I really like Renee and she would do well as a wrestling personality in just about every wrestling company and environment."

[9.0] "Extremely extremely good at her role backstage. Hasn't succeeded in every role that she's had, so unfortunately she's at a 9, but she is legitimately the best backstage interviewer since Mean Gene, and that's an insane compliment. She's a fantastic part of the program, is used CONSTANTLY, and never find myself wanting les of her. that's a big compliment"

[8.0] "Renee is a good backstage interviewer and podcaster. Fans absolutely loved her, so WWE wanted to feature her more on TV and put her on commentary which was the worst thing they could have done. She just did not have the knowledge and chemistry with the other commentators to make that work."

[6.0] "Renee was a good interviewer backstage, somewhat awful as a commentator. So we end up right in the middle. Do I think as many would know who she is if she wasnt married to Dean Ambrose? Lets just say the main segment that comes to mind is I believe Maryse insulting Dean and Renee slapping her? Or maybe the other way around? Regardless, the WWE product doesnt miss her as she had no personality. Maria Kanellis and Terri Runnels were fantastic as interviewers and contributed to the show by having personalities that the wrestlers could interact with. I never got that from Renee unless they brought up her husband."

[4.0] "If someone were to ask me if Renee Young was overrated, I would say no, but after seeing a high 8 for her rating on cagematch, I would definitely say yes. Not really sure why she is rated so high here, maybe people like her interviewing skills? I found her pretty middle of the line in that aspect. However, one thing Young is clearly not good at is commentating as I could never take her seriously on her statements as she does not have the pro wrestling experience to give input on many aspects in matches. Overall, pretty annoying and cringy on commentary, she should have never been placed there in the first place."

[10.0] "I like Renee Good, it's nice to see her career develop even though she's not a wrestler/diva! Many underestimate her work as a commentator, but as for me, she was great at commenting on matches .. considering that Vince always shouted in her ear, I also want to note that she is excellent at talking with interlocutors and it doesn? t matter if it? s an interview or a podcast, I hope that she everything will always be fine)"

[8.0] "Renee Young was one of only two interviewers who were able to show off some semblance of personality while at WWE, the other being The Coach. I always liked Renee; I thought she was really good at most of what Vince had her do and I think WWE is worse off without her."

[4.0] "Not a good commentator at all. She sounds very much like a casual fan in that she knows very little about the wrestling or doesn't care, she's got no legitimatecy beyond always living the babyfaces even if they cheat, she doesn't have wit or humor. She's not awful but she doesn't add anything, she's the definition of 'Meh' in her role."

[5.0] "She was fine as a backstage interviewer or even on the pre show panel but now on the main stage its a little tough to listen to sometimes. Granted she does have vince barking in her ear for 3 hours but still the whole raw commentary team is absolutely atrocious. She's just another pretty face lost in the WWE system."

[5.0] "A tale of two jobs: A great interviewer and awesome personality, but an atrocious commentator. She brings nothing to the desk. She has no credibility and sounds like she has no clue what to say when a match is going on. Most of her comments are expressions such as "Oh my God! " or "ooo's" and "ah's". She's okay when it comes to handling the prewritten stuff such as telling us about an upcoming event, but that's about all she's good for at the announce desk. Unfortunately, WWE obviously like having a woman commentator right now & with Beth being a mom, I don't think she wants a role any more intense than the one she has with NXT, so I think Renee is sticking around for a long time."

[7.0] "As an interviewer, she is realistic, sells promos well, and goes along fantastically with the gimmicks of other wrestlers. As a commentator, she has a lot of charisma, obviously loves the wrestling business, and banters well, but she isn't the strongest. I also feel she's being silenced by production, since she barely contributes anymore. Personally, I feel Renee Young would be PERFECT as a talk show host, similar to her role in talking smack"

[7.0] "Much better suited to an interviewer position. Don't really see what anybody sees in her as a commentator. She's an average commentator, her voice is annoying, but she's better than Cole. A 7."

[10.0] "As a backstage interviewer, Renee is absolutely exceptional. She knows how to convey the story and in many ways she helps establish who we should hate/love based on her characteristics. As a commentator, she is actually quite good. What I like about her is that when there's nothing to say she stays quiet. She doesn't constantly fill the air with pointless BS like Michael Cole and Corey Graves do."

[8.0] "She is pretty good for the role that WWE has her in. She comes across as knowledgeable and as an actual fan instead of the more robotic interviewers who seem to be there for a payday."

[6.0] "She's alright, but she's a little bit overrated and she's just very bubbly but she's not very much full of substance in terms of what she says."

I am not sure what people think she is but she is far from almost a 9 pt. average. Hopefully people will see over time but she does not deserve to share the same last name as Mae Yong. haha"

[10.0] "I've watched Renee Young do some broadcasting in Canada about WWE a little before she got signed with WWE and I'm so glad that she's in the WWE now as a backstage interviewer on Raw and Smackdown and also as a color commentator sometimes on NXT! I feel Renee has done a hell of a job in both those positions since she debuted on NXT and has more than lived up to my expectations for her in WWE. Plus it's very refreshing to see a beautiful girl like Renee on TV who you can clearly tell is actually a big fan of pro wrestling."
