Aside from being a character most people recognize immediately from his era in WWE, he also proved himself capable of having many standout matches, even later in his career. Not a GOAT of the sport by any measure, but definitely someone who held their own and helped elevate other talent. In truth I'd rate him about a 7, but I'll rate him slightly higher for the sake of nostalgia and his rating being too low"

His in-ring work is crisp and reliable, and he can adapt to various styles, from cruiserweight action to more grounded matches. His character work was competent, though most memorable with Eddie. While he may be seen as more of a supporting player than a standout star, Chavo is a respected veteran who could have been given a better push than he was"

[7.0] "Chavo wasn't just riding the coattails of the Guerrero name; he was doing backflips off them. A solid in-ring technician with great timing, smooth lucha-inspired offense, and a sneaky heel persona that always made you yell at the screen like, "CHAVO, NO! " (followed by, "Okay, maybe.") His time with Los Guerreros alongside Eddie? Comedy gold. They lied, they cheated, they stole--and we loved every second of it. That whole "We're not cheating, we're strategizing" vibe was peak early-2000s brilliance. And who could forget Kerwin White--Chavo's very brief, very awkward foray into golf carts, khakis, and identity crisis? It was... a swing and a miss, but we appreciate the effort, buddy."

[10.0] "Original Comment left on Aug 13th 2022: Chavo is one of those "all time most underrated/under appreciated" kinda wrestlers. Being overshadowed by his uncle Eddie is a fact I feel others put far too much stock into - why? Because almost EVERY wrestler EVER is overshadowed by Eddie Guerrero! Chavo has always been very smooth and possesses a great looking dropkick. He kept in top condition over his career and never seemed to "phone it in". Chavo was also always able to adapt to his opponents pace & style; a trait I feel should have given him more opportunities, but I also realize he was on the short side and that always hurt one's chances during his era. Fun stuff in WCW's midcard; mixing it up with the other luchadores and holding his own, fond memories of "Pepe" as well. The Misfits in Action was silly, but I have an obvious soft spot for the guy and it was nice seeing him get more air time during dying days WCW (solid tag matches with partner Corporal Cajun). His time in WWE is mostly known for the team of "Los Guerreros" (which was just an AWESOME tag team) and his more methodical approach in WWECW (good stuff that should be revisited). Chavo at his worst was "just another body" and the Kerwin White character's only saving grace was it's brevity - but honestly, here we have one of the most stable and reliable workers from late 90's into the early 2000's. Chavo Guerrero Jr is some very good stuff! 8.5 rounded up! And now for my 2024 UPDATE; 2004 was almost nothing but crap, garbage, trash, bad ideas, bad acting and in general: sucked. Chavo Guerrero Jr is one of the only HIGHLIGHTS and this man absolutely went above and beyond the call of duty. He's a 10, or more accurate a 25. BLESS THIS MAN."

His work in professional wrestling will always be overshadowed by Eddie, which is quite sad given how long Chavo has been in the business. In my opinion, he just never stood out. The reason why Los Guerreros were so popular, was because of Eddie. If you had put Chavo in there with anybody else, it wouldn't have been as successful. He just doesn't have that gift of being able to connect with the fans, unless of course you mention Eddie. Again, it all seems to come back to comparing him with Eddie. Could never be a babyface, he's just a natural heel. He did have some decent-ish matches throughout the years, but he was always going to be midcard at best. Not that great in-ring, not that great on the mic, didn't have a great look. Just a very average wrestler."

"Chavo was never as flashy in ring as his cruiserweight counterparts but he certainly showed more personality than almost that entire division which is why he lasted in WWE so long. He suffered from inconsistent booking and was used too often as a comedy guy for him to be treated seriously whenever WWE did want to try to be serious with him. For every ECW title run or Mysterio feud, there was a Hornswaggle match or celebrity beatdown waiting around the corner."

But once Chavo set out on his own (tragic as the circumstances were) he really starts to shine. His role in Lucha Underground as both a producer and actor/wrestler is amazing. He's got a good move set, a nice look, some incredible mic skills, and a heel turn really suited him at that point in his career. I'm really impressed by him. Also, I like that he gets to go nuts and hit people with chairs. It's just plain fun."

[6.0] "It's unfair to compare Chavo Guerrero to his uncle Eddie Guerrero. As a talent and in-ring competitor, Chavo could hold his own with the best. He was arguably at his peak when he teamed with Eddie as part of Los Guerreros, delivering standout matches against Edge and Rey Mysterio, Kurt Angle and Chris Benoit, the Basham Brothers, and Team Angle. Once Chavo ventured on his own, he became a staple in WWE's cruiserweight division, carving out a name for himself by holding his own against Rey Mysterio, Funaki, Spike Dudley, Billy Kidman, Shannon Moore, and Jamie Noble. One of my favorite moments was Chavo's participation in the Cruiserweight Open at WrestleMania 20, where he faced off against Mysterio, Jimmy Yang, Tajiri, Noble, Nunzio, and Ultimo Dragon. Despite being given limited time, they managed to deliver a match that got everyone over and set a positive tone for an otherwise up-and-down WrestleMania show. Unfortunately, Chavo experienced some rough spots in his career, such as being saddled with the ill-fated Kerwin White gimmick, which was scrapped following Eddie's untimely passing. Additionally, Chavo is linked to the tragic Chris Benoit incident, as he was one of the last people to talk to Benoit, a connection that haunts him through no fault of his own. Overall, I like Chavo. It's unfair to compare him to Eddie, as Chavo has held over a dozen championships across three promotions in his own right thus cementing a solid legacy of his own in the pro wrestling industry."

While Chavo was definitely the weaker of the bunch, he had his fair share of excellent matches, especially teaming alongside Eddie Guerrero in Los Guerreros. As a singles competitor he was pretty average, but good. Sometimes he would be given pretty terrible gimmicks however like Kerwin White for example. While Chavo never quite had the charisma or in-ring ability of his older brother, he could still hold his own, entertain and put on quality matches."

Hes transitioned very well into a trainer outside the ring and still has a lot to give back to the business."

I'm not saying that it's his fault, he just happened to be in a family where one of his uncles in particular, Eddie Guerrero was probably the best wrestler in that family. He's a solid worker in the ring. Didn't have even 1/10th Eddie's charisma, but he can hold his own in the ring."

At times he was downright boring, cursed with awful gimmicks like Kerwin White or forced into making a fool out of himself losing to midget comedy acts. On the other hand, Chavo is still fantastic in the ring and has moments where his personality shines as well. His only run that I'd call memorable would be his Lucha Underground run, but man did he shine there. Highly recommend checking it out for anyone that wants to see Chavo in a different light"

He and Eddie were one of the best teams in WWE during the early 2000s and once he broke off Eddie, Chavo had a very good singles run in the cruiserweight division. His pairing with Chavo classic was probably the best part of that entire division's run. The Kerwin White storyline was fairly awful but thankfully it was at least a short-lived gimmick. He was also a part of the very entertaining GLOW series as a fight coordinator."

He neither had Rey's flashy moves nor Eddie's fiery personality so it was evident that he wasn't going to be a big babyface like them. He was pushed several times which included a feud with Rey and Eddie but somehow they don't seem to be that significant considering Eddie and Rey's other feuds. The Kerwin White storyline didn't help either..."

[7.0] "I always liked Chavo. When I first saw him in WCW, I always knew that if he was in the ring, you would not be disappointed. Certainly the "teaming" with Pepe was pretty fun, but his singles career, in late 2000 when MIA broke up, was, in my opinion, the highest point of Chavo's career. Very good theme (similar to Eddie), great matches for the cruiserweight belt and I really felt that Chavo was at the peak of his form then and could see the potential formation of a new WCW star. It's a shame that at this point WCW ceased to exist and Chavo (as well as many other WCW wrestlers) came to a halt in their wrestling development. Of course Los Guerreros were a great team, but it's Chavo's singles career I want to talk about. Kerwin White's gimmick was a curious one, but how far it would have gone we'll never know. 2007 was again a good and promising year for Chavito - champion again (but a leprechaun intervention put a damper on his future prospects), "oooooh Chavo", a great "family" feud with Rey Mysterio, culminating in "I Quit" match. His ECW reign with Bam Neely behind him was not bad, but forgettable, as were his appearances in Ring ka King with Bulldog Hart. What was done to Chavo in the final years of his WWE career I don't even want to remember. The start of his TNA career was good at first, but the audience immediately disliked the tag-team with Hernandez, it needed a heelturn, Ididn't like the fact that they were positioned as faces either. His work in Lucha Underground as both producer and wrestler was quite acceptable. Very glad to see him again now in AEW, Chavo looks fresh and I can already see his "miscommunications" with El Idolo. All in all a good wrestler, but really under appreciated in late career in WWE, although he was in Eddie's shadow, but found himself in the last days of WCW, where he really showed himself as a future main-event player."

Can do fantastic when the pieces are put together (like with his underrated feud with Rey or his LU run, which had him show off some surprisingly solid work) but otherwise very unremarkable, weak as a title holder and his consistent state of living in the shadow of Gory and Eddie didn't help matters. Shame as he was quality when he was able to show himself off beyond what he was given, but I don't think he could've been much more than a minor title holder at best."

Never seemed to get the push he deserved, even with good mic skills and pretty good in-ring action. Worse wrestlers have gotten bigger pushes. Was involved in some less good storylines in the WWE, but that's not necessarily his fault."

I know people shit on its prestige but he did Get a good run with the ECW version of the heavyweight title and plenty of guys who started off with that belt went on to win one of the other major heavyweight titles. Good career and hopefully will do some spots with the wwe in the future."

Never had the charisma or size of his uncle, so he was always going to play second fiddle to him. Kerwin White actually had a bit of interest from me, but unfortunately with Eddie passing when he did, you could not have Chavo denouncing the Guerrero name, so that ended up being a bust. He's mostly an advisor now for multiple different organizations and television shows & he seems to be improving the industry as a whole, so he gets points for that."

[4.0] "Poor Chavo Jr. is going to be best remembered for his association with horrible booking. From the poorly received Kerwin White gimmick, to a long-running and regrettable feud with Hornswoggle in WWE, and then leaving that behind to go to TNA where he was immediately pushed hard as a face with Hernandez and quickly won the tag titles off of a much hotter act, and doing nothing with said titles. Chavo isn't a particularly special talent, anyway. Not in the ring, not on the mic, certainly not looks-wise. Everywhere he's been, he's hung his hat on his uncle Eddie's legacy (and on the uglier side of it, even gets mad when others pay tribute to him, since I guess he thinks only family like him should be allowed to reference Eddie). If a 4 rating is "adequate, " I can't think of a better rating for Chavo, because that's all he ever was."

The Kerwin White golfer gimmick and his feuds with Jazz and Hornswoggle over the Cruiserweight Championship did not help Chavo at all and actually helped both Jazz and Hornswoggle out alot. He is doing better now with Lucha Underground and has had interesting feuds with Cage and Texano Jr. their."

He didn't have the off-the-charts charisma of his late great Uncle, but he was one of the finest cruiserweights WCW and WWE ever had. Unfortunately, after surprisingly winning the ECW Championship (and surprisingly losing it), his career took a dramatic fall. That damned feud with Hornswoggle ruined him beyond repair. But then he managed to do well in TNA (I wish he'd stayed longer, but Lucha Underground needed him, so he went to a better place. ) So before we let our memories of this guy get lost in images of horses on sticks and Kerwin Whites, let's remember he was a great wrestler from a great wrestling family who accomplished a lot and is still going strong. Viva la raza!"

While capable of the speed- and aerial-based offense that you'd expect from a Guerrero, he's also a gifted technical wrestler, and while he doesn't quite have Eddie's charisma, he's still versatile enough to play various characters, ranging from his "crazy" gimmick in WCW, to cowardly heel in WWE, to traditionalist face in TNA, to outright villain in Lucha Underground (not to mention the infamous Kerwin White). His last few years in WWE were hugely damaging to his reputation, but he's redeemed himself first in TNA, where he had a good tag run with Hernandez, and now in Lucha Underground, where he serves both as a major heel on-screen and a producer off."
