He was my first exposure to luchadores & you couldn't have asked for a better introduction. Was fantastic at working from underneath & did a great job at character work during the mid-2000's stuff. The crowd was always hot for Rey & it was easy to see why. He was able to have a good match with pretty much anybody."

That makes it difficult for me to maintain any serious interest in him. He's also very bad at promos. He's a 5 and nearly all the weight of that 5 is being carried by his in ring ability. Albeit, that is sort of overrated, it still is very much the bulk of his value."

His high-flying offense is not only innovative, but it also doesn't look excessive, unlike some modern luchadors. A lot of Mysterio's offense is reactive, flashy, but also meaningful, and that's what simple lucha wrestling is all about. He hardly indulged in a million Canadian destroyers for the sake of lucha wrestling. Also, one of the best TV workers of all time, and his longevity ranks with the likes of Blue Panther and Mascaras. Anything less than 10 is a crime."

[10.0] "Rey Mysterio Jr. is a legend all around the world, and there's a reason for it. Here we have a guy who found success in America and in Mexico just for his look (masks, to be more specific) and his in ring style, captivating audiences no matter where he wrestled. Having a successful run that got a lot of notice in AAA, went over on American soil to compete in ECW and WCW, where he got even more eyes on him, having great matches with Juventud Guerrera, Psychosis, Eddie Guerrero, Dean Malenko, Jushin Thunder Liger, to name a few. The less said about him unmasking, the better. Then he goes over to the WWE in 2002, back with the mask on (thankfully) doing his usual luchador thing and even taking part in the "SmackDown Six" where he had great bouts with the likes of Chris Benoit, Eddie Guerrero, Edge, Kurt Angle and Chavo Guerrero in many ways, either teaming with and/or competing against them in an incredible time period that made SmackDown the show to watch during that year. Rey Mysterio Jr. even goes on to become World Heavyweight Champion, despite his size. Sure, it's possible he got this title run because of Eddie Guerrero's death, but at least it was a big and memorable moment that I'm sure Eddie would have been proud of, just hate how WWE went about it. While Rey Jr. remained one of the most prominent acts in WWE, the last big thing before his leave of absence in 2014 was becoming Intercontinental Champion in 2009, having great matches and feuds with the likes of Chris Jericho, Dolph Ziggler and John Morrison. After 2014, he had incredible runs outside of WWE, joining Lucha Underground and killing it over there and even doing cool appearances in Japan and Mexico, he eventually comes back to WWE and has had a pretty good comeback run since then, just wish we got some dream matches before he went back to WWE, but I digress. Overall, one of the all time best high flyers, super influential to the business, you won't find anyone in the industry who hates him, his legacy speaks for itself."

Standing at 5'6" and weighing roughly one steel chair, he's the ultimate proof that size does not matter--especially when you're bouncing off ropes, flipping over giants, and dropkicking logic into the 619 area code. Let's be real: Rey Mysterio has been defying physics, time, and Father Time himself since the 90s. This man has had more comebacks than Windows updates. Just when you think he's slowed down, BAM--springboard crossbody outta nowhere, and you're questioning your own cardio for getting tired just watching him."

He was always one of my favorites and seems like a lovely person as well!"

Despite being undersized, he became a world champion and a locker room leader through sheer talent and heart. Rey never needed ego-driven storylines or to hog the spotlight -- he quietly delivered classics for decades and still makes his opponents look better. He's aged with grace, dignity, and speed most guys 20 years younger can't touch."

His torn groin the day before his WrestleMania match against El Grande Americano is unfortunate but not his fault in any way. He can tell compelling stories, is a loveable underdog, and has brought his son Dom into the company giving us the most hated heel of the modern era."

Psychosis, Tajiri, Matt Hardy, Eddie Guerrero, Kurt Angle, Chris Jericho, CM Punk, Andrade, Edge--shit, even his random tag team with Big Show in 2014 was over and exceeded expectations: the catalogue is endless and I have really only seen his American work. I just wish he was taken seriously as a talent but we all know how racist, callous, disrespectful the WWE has been and still is. His influence is quintessential in the likes of the names people put onto Mount Rushmores. He is wrestling. Legend in every sense of the word. Time has done Rey Rey well. His WWE career made him among the top 3 most popular wrestlers for kids, winning many belts, and the world title twice. After 2014, he had incredible runs in the indies, joining Lucha Underground and AAA, while rehabbing his knees, eventually wrestling for ALL IN 1, the precursor to AEW. He then returned to WWE in 2018, where he held onto the US title, and won the belts with his son Dom, before transitioning into a long standing feud with Dom. Without a single doubt, without Rey, you dont have Modern style wrestling. He showed that you could be smaller and still be a draw, wrestle great, and make the business money. 10/10."

Sure he can do Candian Destroyers, but it just looks lazy. He's a TV changer. Whenever he shows up, I usually don't pay attention, because I know it's going to be borderline terrible wrestling. I just don't understand how people find him entertaining. Lucha Libre always has the most boring wrestlers. He is super mid and needs, and I mean needs a new gimmick. His LWO faction is also boring. They all follow in his foot steps. It's setting them up for failure. [9.0] "Despite being a deadbeat father, Rey Mysterio Jr. embodies everything amazing about wrestling. He is the ultimate David vs. Goliath example that any wrestling fan can point to when someone argues a wrestler is undersized. Too often, people place GOAT tags on athletes far too quickly, but after decades of wrestling, Rey truly deserves that moniker. Rey is mostly known for his in-ring ability, but it is his character work and ability to carry on storylines that truly separates him from the majority of high flying wrestlers. I'll be ranking Rey on his look, promo, and in-ring ability. I don't think anyone could truly rate Rey Mysterio low in the look department. His mask and ring gear are iconic. Rey has managed to look unique in every era he wrestled in, whether it be 1990s WCW or 2020s WWE. Of course, Rey is much smaller than most wrestlers, particularly main event talent in the US. And yet, his look is so cool, I don't think anyone ever truly cared or claimed he was "exposing the business" when he competed against larger wrestlers. In terms of promo skill, Rey is sneakily talented in this category. Unlike many cruiserweights, Rey has been able to connect with audiences and draw emotions due to the storylines he has been able to carry over the years. Whether it be the infamous mask saga in WCW or his decades-long involvement with Dominik related storylines, Rey is able to make audiences care about who he is and what he does. Lastly, what else can be said about Rey's in-ring ability? He is truly one of one. There are countless spots that could have gone wrong in Rey's career, as his style has always been high risk. If someone in 1998 told you that Rey Mysterio Jr. would still be putting on great matches in 2024, what would you say in response? I'd say he is objectively one of the greatest wrestlers of all time."

His career, spanning over three decades, is a testament to his unparalleled skill, versatility, and charisma. As a fan, what draws me to Rey Mysterio is not just his in-ring prowess but also his ability to transcend the typical limitations faced by smaller wrestlers in an industry often dominated by larger-than-life figures. Rey's innovative high-flying style and his fearless approach to wrestling have redefined what it means to be a cruiserweight. One of the most remarkable aspects of Rey Mysterio's career is his versatility in the ring. Whether he's squaring off against other high-flyers, grapplers, or even much larger opponents, Rey seamlessly adapts his style to create compelling matches. His ability to incorporate lucha libre techniques with a diverse array of wrestling styles makes him a unique and dynamic performer. Matches against giants like The Big Show or agile competitors like Eddie Guerrero showcase his adaptability and resilience, proving that Rey Mysterio can hold his own against any opponent. Beyond his technical skills, Rey Mysterio's charisma and connection with the audience are undeniable. His vibrant persona, masked mystique, and relentless determination resonate deeply with fans around the world. I became a fan of his as a kid when he debuted in WCW in 1996 against Dean Malenko. Rey Mysterio's influence on the wrestling industry and future generations of wrestlers cannot be overstated. He broke the mold for what cruiserweights could achieve, opening doors for smaller wrestlers to be taken seriously as main event talents. His legacy is seen in the many high-flyers and technically gifted wrestlers who have followed in his footsteps, all of whom cite Rey as a major influence. For a fan like myself, Rey Mysterio embodies the spirit of innovation, determination, and passion that makes professional wrestling so captivating. His career is a living testament to the idea that greatness isn't defined by size, but by heart and skill. He's one of those guys that you would easily wanna show to a new fan of the industry because of how good he is in so many aspects."
