Not the quickest one, not the fastest one, but he was always good with his words. A great talent he still runs it down today."

[8.0] "MVP was good in the ring and even better on the mic. WWE he had a lot of potential but capped out at the upper mid card. Had a lot of great feuds on Smackdown. Unfortunately his aura went away and he fell down the card. His TNA, Lucha Underground and NJPW runs never seemed to reach his potential. His second WWE run showed how great he could be as a manager with Lashley and the Hurt Business but Omos failed to get over with him (not his fault but the truth). Hopefully his AEW run goes well."

He was decently jacked, had kicked ass ring attires, could go in the ring, pretty solid on the mic, good as a manager, and had a dope theme song and entrance. Only real downside about MVP was his finisher, looked way too weak. MVP also had a long reign as U.S Champion and had an amazing feud with Matt Hardy. Wish he got to hold the Big Gold belt, because it would've fitted him like a fucking glove."

[9.0] "I love MVP. I think he's one of the best guys working today and even back when he first made his WWE debut, I thought he was someone that could've had a shot at being the first black WWE Champion based on his work ethic and charisma. I always look back fondly to his fueds with Chris Benoit, Kane, Matt Hardy, Finley and Regal and how he was almost effortlessly able to hang with premier workers like Benoit, Finley and Regal and not appear exposed or blown up. Ever since his WWE return, he hasn't lost a beat. I loved his work as a member of The Hurt Business and working with Bobby Lashley though I feel like he's fallen a bit by the wayside since he started managing Omos. Still, I love MVP, he's a true pro wrestling ronin and in my opinion, one of the best to ever do it to never win the big one."

"MVP is a midi carder whos made a successful second run in wwe. I think him in hurt business and managing Bobby Lashley was the jump start point in his career. I think hes doing a half way decent job with Omos. I think he could be working with him for more exciting big man spots and lets rambling on promos but j hope Him and Omos continue to grow"

[7.0] "When the MVP returned at Royal Rumble 2020, I thought he was back for a show or two. But I was wrong - luckily he stayed longer. MVP is doing really well, since his return he has been the voice and leader of Hurt Business, manager of Lashley and Omos. It is a pity that he is a bit rusty in the ring and his 1 vs 1 fights are just weak. But I hope that at the end of his ring career he will get one more reign with the US title."
WrestlingFan892 wrote on 06.04.2022:
[8.0] "He is a multipurpose wrestler, he does well both as a manager and as a wrestler, his theme is one of the best historically and his person fit very well with his theme. Talking about him nowadays, he is a good manager with good mic-skills, now I am sure he will do well with Omos, he will try to improve the boy like other managers did, Paul Heyman/Big Show, Bobby Heenan/Andre The Giant for example."

[8.0] "Always liked MVP. When i first saw him in smackdown he didn't really impress me but as i watched more of his stuff i can say that he could've easily been the world champ if the writers had done a better job at writing his storylines. He was a natural on the mic, was pretty decent in the ring, had the swagger, the look and the charisma. Sadly the st? rylines he was involved in didn't do him any good. His beef with kane and undertaker, even though they were some of the biggest stars, was very weak and was overall a fail imo. The storyline with Matt hardy was better but none of the storylines had the potential to push mvp to world champ status.Right now he's doing a good job as a manager too so good for him. Overall, really liked this guy and see him as wasted potential."

[7.0] "I kinda always had a thing about MVP: he wasn't exactly fantastic in terms of ring action and you definitely couldn't see him holding any big titles but he did the best he could given how long it took for him to get a chance at the bigger companies: he didn't start young either so that's a bonus. He was always eh in the ring but I don't think he's as bad as people made out: the guy could work a match fairly well and definitely got a good bit of heat when playing a heel, which came quite naturally to him. Paired with his solid promo skills and presence, he did get places and won a good few titles for himself given how versatile he could be. MVP was always good at working short, TV length matches, but I found that longer stuff tended to be rather tedious as he really couldn't sustain a match length that long without repeating himself or getting gassed: a trend that is noticeable by how long most of his matches were. He got the IWGP Intercontinental title rolling despite the state of the company at the time and has found himself as a super reliable manager for the Hurt Business, as well as making Bobby Lashley a must see talent. Definitely not amazing at any one thing but incredibly useful to any company in multiple different ways as a talent."

However, he's really good as manager right now and was always a guilty pleasure even if he was lacking in the ring. I never thought he would comeback though and have a big role but he has and has been a great manager for Bobby Lashley who needs it."

[9.0] "His mic skills are really great and is the perfect superstar to enhance younger talent. Him and The Hurt Business is probably the best work MVP has ever done not even in just WWE. He is a perfect fit for leading the business. His in-ring work is good and you can tell he is getting older. He is such a good experienced veteran and I see him having one more U. S. or Intercontinental Title run. His mic skills are what got him so far in wrestling and probably has 2 more years left in the tank."
SSEighty7 wrote on 21.09.2020:
[8.0] "Pretty good wrestler, full of charisma and an outstanding talker. He would've fared better in wrestling had he been younger when he was ascending though. In a way, he's similar to Diamond Dallas Page, who also broke out late in his career. MVP is good as a singles wrestler, and currently excels as a manager and mouthpiece. Without him, The Hurt Business doesn't exist and isn't nearly appealing without him. His general wrestling skill has faded as he's gotten in his latter twilight years, but being in tag matches and being the mouthpiece for other guys has extended his career and general value greatly. He's one of the standouts during this COVID-Era of wrestling."

DanTalksRasslin wrote on 12.07.2019:
[7.0] "MVP was a solid all-around talent, with a decent skill set and ring style and some very good promo skills. Had a good run in WWE in the late 2000s - marked especially by a successful rivalry with Matt Hardy on Smackdown - followed by a good run in NJPW and a run with TNA as leader of the Beatdown Clan (which, if not a great storyline, did at least feature strong work from MVP himself as a top leader). He's remained a relatively prominent figure on the indy circuit and, when his in-ring career runs down, is someone I could see transitioning to a successful role as a manager or commentator."

The guy was good on the mic, made his gimmick work and adapted pretty well to this "sports entertainment" thing even if he was in a lot of weird segments. Then he came in New Japan and had a decent run. I saw him perform in the tournament to introduce the Intercontinental Championship and I think he did some good work in this new environment. He didn't have any epic, classic match or anything but he was good in his role."

[2.0] "To be honest with you in my opinion I never thought MVP was not that great. At first it was all hype for two months about his contact and debut in WWE. His gimmick was awful and so was his wrestling style. The only good things he did was being an great entertainer and tag team champion with Matt Hardy. His feud with Matt Hardy was great. He went no where in his career. I don't think he deserved the US title by beating Chris Benoit and Shelton Benjamin. His feud with Undertaker and Kane were lame. His entrance music was enjoying and just reminds me of him as a rapper not a wrestler. After he lost his US title in 2009 he was not the same."

[6.0] "One of a good handful of misused midcarders that could have been a potential upper guy (or even a main eventer) in the late 00s, MVP seemed to have been on the right path to stardom, then something or another happened and he became lost in the shuffle like Shelton, Kennedy, Kofi, Carlito and even Matt Hardy to an extent. If even one of those guys made it to the top it wouldn't have surprised me, and of them I'd say MVP had the most charisma (though Kennedy and Carlito had a bit themselves) and the best look. Really a shame."

[7.0] "Channeling the diva-like personas of the NFL wide receivers of the era, Montel Vontavious Porter stood out in a crowded midcard in 2006-2008 Smackdown. MVP's gimmick, flashiness and confidence on the mic helped make up for adequate ring work. Porter was able to improve by being in the ring with veterans like Finlay, Benoit, Regal, Hardy and Kane. His United States Championship run and his feud with Matt Hardy improved his stock as played the cowardly yet cocky heel very well. However, after losing his U. S. title run, he went on a losing streak and that hurt him more than anything. Losing to Kung Fu Naki and Slam Master J does not a believable upper midcarder make. Soon, he was traded to RAW, and just didn't have the same spark even after a face turn which contradicted the core of his character. Since moving on from the WWE, he was the IGWP IC champion but soon on the outs. MVP then went TNA, and never really was able to build a solid program and was out. Now 43, MVP might be done, but he's proven when given a chance he's a reliable hand."

MVP came up with being arrested and being thrown in jail as a teenager (WWE turned this into a storyline at one point) and he's just another alright worker. Not the best of his kind but, there's better elite workers out there the WWE has had."

But he was still very accomplished within the WWE and had some very good matches. Nowadays, in TNA, I think he's one of the best on the roster and he performs every time he's in the ring. Maybe, the WWE didn't use him as well as his potential deserved, but he'll still be remembered as a great wrestler and TNA is much better with him in it."
