[3.0] "Bryan Alvarez remains one of the more respected voices in wrestling journalism (and with good reason, as his commentary is generally insightful and provocative. ) However, his in-ring career was largely underwhelming due to a myriad of injuries that forced him to endure long periods of inactivity. Alvarez got his start in the mid-90s; working the Pacific Northwestern region (initially as a referee, but eventually as a wrestler) and managed to secure the PNPW TV Title and ICW Tag Title alongside Nikkie Sixx. Yet after his in-ring aspirations had slowed down, Alvarez focused on co-writing The Death of WCW. With the success of the book came interest in his career, so Alvarez managed to make a comeback where he wrestled for various independent promotions. Alvarez's indie career came to it's apex when he managed to secure a reign with the interleague ICW/ICWA Tex-Arkana Television Championship (which he won at a CHIKARA event while losing at an IWC event. ) Injuries forced Alvarez's in-ring career into conclusion, but his work with Wrestling Observer does remain insightful and meaningful."

[2.0] "Bryan Alvarez is a very poor worker from everything I've seen. His journalism is also not very good really. I mean, he gets a lot of facts wrong, his matches were poor. Perhaps with more training, he could learn to run the ropes some day."
