[9.0] "Wrestlers in the 90s and 2000s made being from Canada seem cool, and Storm was a big part of that. The lack of charisma argument only worked if he was made to be a face of a promotion, but in reality his character work made him one of the better heels of his time. He is also unquestionably one of the best in-ring technicians of that era, especially if you catch his WCW & ECW work"

[6.0] "There's not a lot new I'm going to say about Lance Storm. Always passes in the ring, but I don't think he had the extra gear to elevate bad wrestlers like some of his peers could. Like Lance Storm is not saving a match with somebody slightly over the hill or a below-average wrestler, but when he gets a dance partner that works, he's brilliant. He's been opinionated since his retirement, but I think a lot of his views miss more than they hit."

[7.0] "It's a shame that Lance Storm has the charisma of a blobfish because he's actually a pretty good wrestler. On the bright side, good wrestlers with no charisma are numerous and play an important role as enhancement talent. Stevie Richards and Simon Dean were a few other examples who can actually wrestle a good match but could never draw a dime to save their lives. People like seeing wrestlers who both have big personalities, a good look and an unparalled intensity, so just being good at wrestling is nowhere near enough."

[7.0] "In a world of sports entertainment, Lance stayed true to the wrestling aspect of it, and relied on his wrestling ability to get him where he needed to go. He took himself and the pro wrestling business as a whole very seriously (pun intended, and that carried over in to his character. He didn't have any personality what so ever. He wasn't going to be someone to go out and do anything entertainment related (sing, dance, tell jokes, etc). However, he could wow you with the bell rang, you were almost guaranteed a good wrestling match from him every time regardless of the opponent because that's how talented of an in ring worker he was."

[7.0] "I wanted to love Lance Storm but he forced me to only like him. He immediately impresses with his fluidity and sharpness but he's also a bit robotic and woefully short on charm. He somewhat reminds me of how many view insects - flawlessly built to mechanically achieve a specific task but possibly soulless/unable to deviate; I don't think it was possible to teach Lance Storm how to be emotionally engaging. Athletically gifted and technically sound but lacking some intangibles. Where he shines however, is in tag team encounters and dying days WCW."
texasyosh wrote on 16.01.2023:
[7.0] "I think Lance Storm's body of work is pretty underwhelming considering how high he's praised as a technical great. Maybe that's because he just came about at the wrong place, wrong time. I could see him fitting in many different eras of wrestling, but trying to be an up-and-coming technician on the end of ECW's peak and pre-ROH, he was between a rock and a hard place. Maybe if we got more than a stint in WAR and brief moments in ROH we would've seen more from him. I think Storm shows flashes of greatness, but it just isn't consistent to warrant a higher rating than 7."

[8.0] "In-ring wise Lance Storm is one of the many unsung heroes of the late 90's and early 2000's. This dude could work any style, any time with anyone. To be fair, he was a tad bit lacking in the promo/charisma department but Lance found ways to incorporate that into his character as a heel. He's Mr. Canadian McScowlFace and he hates shenanigans, and will kick your goddamn face off. Lance has what is in my opinion, one of the absolute best superkicks in the business. Only HBK has him beat."

Sloppy Sammy wrote on 28.12.2021:
[5.0] "I understand that he was a good technical wrestler and trainer and all that, but as an in ring performer i have always found him to be pretty overrated. He was always much better as a tag team guy, and aside from one really good scripted promo on Raw when he was in thr unamericans stable he was always pedestrian as a talker and entertainer. He wasnt the caliber of a Benoit, Guerrero, Jericho, or Dean Malenko in terms of in ring skills. Lancr was mearly above average but not truely great."
Das Turd wrote on 26.07.2021:
"9. 0 I sorely miss the Lance Storms and Dean Malenkos of the world, men who would coldly and intelligently dismantle their opponents without feeling. Those are scary guys to fight in real life and that kind of character brings an element of realism to pro wrestling to me."
Daigotsu wrote on 20.06.2021:
[8.0] "Lance Storm was a very solid technical wrestler. He almost totally lacked charisma (although WCW even managed to turn that into a strength during his big push). Very much a guy who let his in-ring work speak for itself, and he was part of a very strong WCW midcard as a result."
redcloud wrote on 21.02.2021:
[3.0] "You know, usually when people get tagged with the "great worker, but no charisma" criticism the work is at least usually really great. Not so with Lance Storm. At no point in his career was he ever a top ring worker or technician. The most average wrestler you could come up with in terms of in ring ability. Then when you get to the promo and character work? Yikes."
ElPolloLoco wrote on 02.09.2020:

He gets one extra point however for being an amazingly hard worker and for his dedication to the pro-wrestling business. Great professional."

He really felt like a big deal there. In ECW before that he proved to be one of the more sound guys on the entire roster & helped give ECW more credibility."

I don't think charisma means everything in wrestling and I think technical prowess is important and can go a long way, but this guy is so bland that I can't get myself invested in anything he does. Look at Benoit as an example, he was never a great promo, but his charisma came out in the ring with his facial expressions and selling. I can't even find any charisma in Lance Storms in-ring work. Very bland...."

[9.0] "One of the best to never win a World Championship. No promotion ever quite made the most of him, which is saying something when you consider that he was prominent and a champion pretty much everywhere he went from SMW, ECW, WCW to WWE. Trusted to challenge for World titles in the big three promotions of his era and even in the latter stages of his career he was able to challenge for the ROH World Championship on more than one occasion. At 49, part of me would still like to see him get back in the ring for another run, particularly now that his buddy Cyrus is at the helm of Impact Wrestling."

[9.0] "Popularity alone doesnīt make a good wrestler (say hello, Hulk Hogan! ), and it happens the same with in-ring ability. The difference is where you draw the line. Lance Storm is an outstanding technician, a true master of the trade who executes every move with surgical precision and can work a great match against everyone. How come he is never regarded as one of the best? Because heīs "dull". If you want a big mouthed, ear drilling crowd favourite Lance Storm isnīt your cup of tea. IMHO skill is way more important than a loud gimmick (say hello, Enzo Amore! ), and Lance Storm has skill to spare. If Iīm not mistaken, he said somewhere that if moves are done correctly it doesnīt have to happen anything bad. He hasnīt hurt anybody in the ring, and thatīs a good indicator of his skill. Thatīs applicable to Bret Hart as well. But again, all the skill of the world canīt shine by itself. It needs charisma as well, not a stone facce capable of plowing through the ranks of professional poker players worlwide. I canīt help feeling a bit like "if only this guy could talk... ""

The thing that keeps him from being higher is that his storylines were repetitive, so he doesn't have standout moments. Maybe I need to see more of his ECW stuff, but his WWF/e just felt like a longer version of his ECW run."
Blood Pump wrote on 06.04.2017:

Its hard to think of a guy as popular as Lance who was also always super awkward on the mic. The dude just wasn't comfortable speaking, nor was he comfortable with the crowd which clearly effected his potential."

They botched his run so bad I'm still kind of angry about it all these years later. It's true he wasn't oozing with charisma, but he was able to use that to his advantage through the too-serious character he played in WCW."

Lance Storm gets credit for being one of the very few wrestlers that depart after his or her time in WWE that actually still gives a damn about the product. This is proven by Lance Storm being extremely active and live streaming his thoughts on Monday Night Raw on Twitter. I wish to give him a seven and a half but, I'll make due with a seven."

He was proof of the worth of technical wrestling in the original ECW, the highlight of a dying WCW, and regrettably misused in the WWF/E. He may have never been a mega star like his peer Bret Hart, but he put on good matches everywhere he went, and has spent his retirement years teaching the younger generation, who could not ask for a better trainer."

[10.0] "With a cold demeanour and a great sense of dignity, Lance Storm has been one of the most technically expert wrestler to grace the ring. going through ECW, WCW and WWE, he made an impact wherever he went. Not the flashiest wrestler by any means, he just put on wrestling clinics and made everyone look awesome in the process. Even today, retired from active competition and focused on training new wrestlers, he still wrestles the occasional match, looking like he never missed a step and still being amazing. Lance Storm incarnates the professional in Pro Wrestling."

[9.0] "When I started watching, I was naturally drawn to the good guy characters. Without fail, I'd root for the babyface over the heel, even if the heel was a recently-turned babyface. For a long period of time, Storm was the only villainous wrestler I liked, and it was solely down to his in-ring work. In the dying days of WCW, Storm's ability as a technician stood out clear as day, and while not a very charismatic personality, his promos were more than serviceable and actually quite effective. Always delivered good matches and played his given roles well, but was never given the ball to put on a truly classic match with anyone, unfortunately (though his ROH title match was just as excellent as the other title matches in the era of the company--super impressive for a non-active wrestler)."

[9.0] "Although he is clearly a very intelligent guy, and played a good deadpan heel, his downfall was his mic work. Other than that his wrestling was so good that he took a single-leg crab and made it an intimidating finisher - that takes skill. It's a pity that WWE didn't keep him in the Intercontinental title scene, because I feel he was good enough to have a long run with it."
