[7.0] "The last two matches saved this PPV from obscurity. The Austin/McMahon feud had just begun and this was the first chapter in their ongoing saga that would carry the company for years to come. The Inferno Match was iconic and very memorable for the suicide dive. The two tag matches were awful, but a thumbs up for the PPV overall."

"Hell of a PPV, especially the last two matches. The start of the card was forgettable but it swings back around."

Undertaker and Kane had an unforgettable Inferno match that had one of Takers most iconic moments where he dives over the ropes and the fire! Austin and Dude Love was a fantastic brawl with a very controversial finish. The DQ ending might have been disappointing, but the storytelling more than made up for it. Unfortunately as with a lot of In Your House shows, the undercard was lacklustre and unfortunately the Triple H vs Owen match in particular was disappointing."

[4.0] "A poor PPV and a step down from Mania 14. Six man opener is nothing special a bit clunky at times but Rock is cool and D'lo was the MVP in terms of workrate (5/10) Triple H and Owen had a match that wasn't as good as their previous month's one, it had a nice ending with Chyna breaking free from the cage and Owen's pedigree but the first half was way too slow (5/10) NWA tag had some nice moments with Morton and Gibson doing great and the Cornette/White square off being funny. The crowd didn't care and the bargain bin version of the midnight express isn't great. (5/10) Luna/Sable is not a match and just there for sex appeal waste of time (0/10) Outlaws/LOD isn't bad at the start. Got some intensity from Hawk and Animal but the match goes on for too long so it starts to slow down, also finish sucks LOD should've just won the belts or lost in less dumb way (4/10) Taker/Kane is a bit slow at times but the inferno visuals are really cool. The superplex spot, Taker's dive, Kane on fire and Bearer getting hit with a drum are all cool moments. Best match of the night even if it isn't exciting all the time (6/10) Austin/Foley is a solid enough brawl with shenanigans. Dude Love takes some nasty bumps and Vince gets involved for some drama. Not great but a decent main and Austin was super over (6/10)"

[4.0] "Quite a disappointment of a PPV after a brilliant WrestleMania. The opener was alright, as Faarooq's and Rocky's feud has been really interesting and it would have been much better if Shamrock got more to do and Blackman much less, as his offense is just rotten. HHH and Owen didn't achieve the quality of their Mania match, but it was still acceptable with a pretty nicely executed screwy finish. NWA Tag Team Titles match was alright in terms of the structure, but at the same time it was cold, as there was no way that the crowd would care about this thing. Then the Evening Gown Match was a straight up Russo bollocks, but at least it was short. Outlaws and LOD had not too bad of a match, but it was buried by an awful finish. Taker vs Kane was the best thing on the show as the visuals alone of the Inferno Match were fantastic and the final minutes with Vader interfering and Bearer getting the juice were great. The main event though was a disappointment for me as Stone Cold's new brawling style was on full display here and even though I can't ignore how over he was I just can't get into these long walking brawls. There's almost no action in the ring and it just makes me sad, as Austin was one of the best technical wrestlers on the planet before the neck injury. Some intriguing stuff with Vince though with him taking a nicely looking chair shot to the head. Not an awful show, but nothing to come back to really."

[4.0] "A total filler PPV in every sense of the word as much of the card would be forgotten within a week. Obviously Austin/Foley carried the show and if not for that, this show would have been terrible! Watch the main event for the never ending saga in the Austin/McMahon feud."

[4.0] "Only the last two matches are worth watching, the rest are a reminder of what was bad about the Attitude era when it prioritised bad storylines and cheap thrills over decent wrestling. Both those things are fine in a wrestling show as long as they don't take over, but they did here, and even the two good matches didn't have much in the way of great wrestling. So much here was done badly that even people who are bigger fans of this style than me won't get much out of it, and really only need to watch the last third of the show."

[4.0] "Typical WWF PPV a good main event, one decent upper and undercard match. Triple H vs Owen was 100% an Owen carry job by all means necessary. Austin vs Dude Love was a good match and Austin smacking Vince with the chair and knocking him out creates interest for the next Raw. Matches from best to worst: Austin/Love ***3/4, Taker/Kane ***, Triple H/Owen **3/4, six-man **1/4, Nwa tag **, WWF tag title *1/2, evening gown NR"

[6.0] "Not quite sure why this has such a low rating. Sure, the opener is trash and Faarooq teaming up with Shamrock and Blackman doesn't even make sense no matter what you say. Hunter and Owen put on a decent display while Chyna hangs in a cage over the arena (dumb match gimmick). Fair to say Owen carried the match, and hit a better Pedigree than Hunter usually puts on. No-one cares about the NWA "invasion" angle anymore, but at least it's some decent classic wrestling and a proof that SOME old men are able to put on an acceptable performance. Evening Gown match is an absolute travesty and so moronic, especially when we know, based on the mixed tag team match, that Sable and Luna caaaan to some extent put on an acceptable bout. But hey, tits are COOL I guess. The tag team match is tame as hell and has a stupid ending where LOD gets counted as pinned instead of NAO. The Inferno match starts out slow but builds up well, and the flames growing on big spots was a nice touch, and it really feels like the animosity is real. Bearer getting a bass drum on his head is pretty cool too. The main event is a classic and damn solid brawl with some really painful looking spots, including a vicious sounding chair shot to McMahon's head. I was entertained!"

[4.0] "The highlight here was the Austin-Love main event; it certainly featured the characteristic overbooking of the era, but the way the match itself and the outside involvement of McMahon played out made for an entertaining chapter in the Austin-McMahon story. The inferno match, which the show was largely sold on the back of, was certainly a spectacle, but the actual action was somewhat underwhelming compared to the previous Taker-Kane match at 'Mania. Perhaps the inferno match is somewhat akin to a scaffold match in that by nature it features just a little too much legitimate danger to really work as a match stipulation. On the undercard, Owen vs. HHH was OK, if once again somewhat overbooked; the rest of the event was largely unremarkable."

I think that it was very entertaining for what it was. Main event is great. It has much overbooking and many interferences but who cares, this was just a cool match."

[5.0] "Unforgiven 1998 seems an extended episode of Raw, many promos and less Wrestling, with a disappointing Inferno match between The Undertaker and Kane. Steve Austin vs Dude Love isn't good, it's too similar to a weekly episode where there are interferences and bad decisions to get more heat. The best match is Triple H vs Owen Hart, a nice story where Chyna plays a major role. I also like the story of The Rock and Farooq, but the rest is easily forgettable."

[5.0] "The Inferno Match was the big selling point of the PPV, but Austin versus Dude Love was the only match that delivered. The undercard ranges from crap to crap with an asterisk, so you'll probably be doing a lot of fast-fowarding to get to the main event"
