[4.0] "After attending Wrestlecircus/Revolver's Midnight-ish show Mania weekend inside the retro-jazz foyer of 'The Plaza, ' I felt enthused enough to check-out a couple of the nascent fed's gigs. However, production values will keep me away from other shows, at least those held at the Congress. I dig this urban warehouse, especially all the red bricks & those large glass windows exposing the proceedings to any passer-byes. Like Ybor City's 'the Orpheum, ' I enjoy when events are held in tight proximity to nightlife as not only is it just a walk to wash away the event and move onto whatever's next, but I like that element of voyeurism. Yet as a TV watcher, the lack of a stationary hard-cam made this show difficult. Adding to the tedium was an audio mix that was one step worse than Chikara early '16. The show itself was muted so there could be medicore announcers sharing such ironies like the cameraman's name, Rudy Hernandez, as if he should be complimented for this presentation. The evening was bookended by matches plagued by interference. It's one thing when it's Cottonbelly & S Monkey, but when you're deciding your fed's 1st champion, better to let the men work through the outcome than some doofus neither participant wants anywhere near the ring. Though a show filled w/ an eclectic mix of local/Lucha/NJPW talent, it's difficult to write which was the best match due to the difficulties the production staff had but I'm guessing most people would have said Strickland/Guevara. For whatever reason, Shane didn't have the appeal to pull-off The Jackson 5 as his entrance music, so the change to Chaka Khan is for the positive as I buy someone with his appearance/air being better able to get-over w/ that. Sammy's confidence in his home state is apparent, but don't act too much like a top-guy in that your matches, incl this, haven't broken through the 'we must talk about you' stratosphere. Cobb/Moose and the Fenix tag also stood-out, but it wasn't fun watching this show."
