[7.0] "Great start to the tournament. The presentation is very nice and we get introduced on who is participating in this tournament. Metalik vs. Saez was a decent opener. Lun vs. Daivari was a weak match that didn't play great off Daivari's heel disapproval of the handshake when the match started. Alexander vs. Petiot was a good match that made Cedric a fan favorite in the tournament. Ibushi vs. Maluta was match of the night. Just a masterpiece of a match that is worth a watch. All and all, it's worth a watch."

I would prefer Ibushi vs Maluta over Petiot vs Alexander because it got more time to operate. Overall good opening to the Cruiserweight classic but room for improvemement."

[5.0] "Saez vs Metalik **¾ - Daivari vs Lun ** - Alexander vs Petiot **½ - Ibushi vs Maluta ***½ - very highly overrated show I guess. One noteworthy match on the show is not great lol. Hopefully not all of these are over hyped"

[9.0] "Metalik/Saez and Cedric/Petiot were both quite enjoyable matches. Daivari/Lun was not very noteworthy, but not bad either. Ibushi/Maluta was a great main event, Ibushi is fantastic! Extra points for the fabulous presentation and commentary. Crazy that a show like this can exist under the WWE banner."

So... that being said... *** stars for Alexander vs. Petiot. *** stars for Ibushi vs. Maluta. ** 1/4 stars for Saez vs. Metalik. ** 1/4 stars for Daivari vs. Lun. Other than the concept itself, there wasn't a particular match worth going out of your way to see, which really disappoints me."

[8.0] "I think this was a good standout show, but I felt annoyed from all the USA Chants when the Alexander Vs Petiot match! Ho Ho Lun vs Ariya Davari was okay, but the only thing I see from Ho Ho Lun that was outstanding was the bridging German suplex! Ariya Davari played a good heel, I loved the spot where Lun was running to do a kick and Davari knees him! Gran Metalik vs Alejandro Saez was just a spot fest match! I was impressed by Saez 450 splash from the apron! It was good Alexander vs Petiot was USA vs France match! Good match, but I think Petiot showed a lot technical wrestling skills and did a gut wrench suplex, brain buster suplex, and a lot more wrestling moves! I was impressed by Cedric Alexander springboard Clothesline, and the Discuss Lariat bump he took for Petiot, either way it was a good match! Just stupid USA chants at the start! I know Petiot played the heel, but they made him seem like he was worthless! Kota Ibushi vs Sean Matuala was an outstanding match, just Matuala did almost did a dangerous botched flip even Bryan Danielson was saying he almost wiped himself out! Ibushi wins with a power bomb sit out! The commentary put Big Names over even Sean Matula and Alejandro Saez over! Liked the tournament can't wait for next week"

[9.0] "While the matchrs may not have been standout, they were always entertaining. From the commentating to the setup I loved the whole presentation of the tournament. What i think I like the most is the SELLING. Every wrestler went out there and tried to make their opponent look good, which made every match enjoyable. My main flaw is that they should definitely let the matches go longer, but it might just be bc it's first round matches and they can't be taping all night so I understand why they are short. Metalik vs Saez was a really good opener ***. Lun vs Daivari was a basic underdog match, but I must say I was impressed by Daivari, seems like a good heel to sign **. Petition vs Alexander was a really good match, can I just say Petiot is insanely ripped. Both guys looked great here ***. Ibushi vs Maluta was a really good and fun match, my MOTN ***1/4. Overall really entertaining show"

[7.0] "Metalik/Saez was a good opener & my favorite match of the show (***), Daivari/Lun was forgettable (*1/2), same goes for Cedric/Petiot (*1/4) & Ibushi/Maluta was OK (**). There were no real standout matches, but I really didn't expect to see any epic 30 minute MOTYC's in the first round of the tournament. It was still fun to watch, as the whole presentation of the thing was great & the commentary by Bryan & Mauro was awesome - they are already my favorite commentary team in the E."

[7.0] "WWE Cruiserweight: Good show - Gran Metallik looked great tonight; far less should be said about the HK representative who was easily the weakest competitor on the show. All of the matches followed WWE's presentation style in the way that the opponent of the victor got in as much, if not more (thankfully Davari was on-top for the majority, ) than the victor. Ibushi also looked good though the lack of English will, when the allure of seeing him in a WWE ring dissipitates, hurt him in the long-run. Cedric also came off well. The Samoan almost killed himself with the same move Ricochet executes with such ease. Perhaps he literally meant to complete one somersault onto the apron and execute another onto the opponent but it's overkill if that's the case. I felt the severity of the referees tones (especially C Robinson) in forcing the opponents to shake hands was a bit condescending to the opponents. D Bry has made a smooth transition to the booth but he is not yet a C Graves. We're in for four weeks of 1st round bouts; at the end of that I'll comment more on which matches really stood out as with WWE there are greater parameters the competitors must compete by unlike a PWG."

[7.0] "Good first episode of the CWC. I like the new format where the competition is treated more realistically like in MMA with the pre-match ref discussion with the wrestlers, the hand-shakes (like glove touching), and the post-match winners' hand-raisings. It all makes this competition feel more serious. Metalik vs Saez was cool, with Metalik's high-flying being the standout, but Saez impressed too with his own high-flying and his striking. ***. Lun vs Daivari was mediocre. Lun isn't that great of a wrestler (I knew this already from having seen him wrestle in China) but got strong crowd support which helped a little. He seriously needs to work on his selling and move delivery though. Daivari was the much better performer, and I didn't really find it believable (or fair) how Lun got the win over him. **1/2. Petiot vs Cedric was pretty good, with a nice contrast of technical wrestling and power moves against agile high-flying. Quite a few fun sequences and both men looked strong. ***1/4. Ibushi vs Maluta was also quite good. Ibushi's selling was a bit questionable at times, but he got in a lot of his key moves and definitely impressed with his wide array of moves, doing enough to continue the hype behind him as he remains in the tournament. Maluta wasn't always crisp with his moves, but he showed some nice power moves at times and was an adequate canvas to display Ibushi's amazing abilities. ***1/4. I'm quite excited for the continuation of this competition."

[7.0] "Not a bad start to this promising tournament. The Ibushi-Maluta and Alexander-Petiot matches were far and away the standouts of the show, serving not only as good showcases for the winners but allowing the losers to still look good in defeat. The video game-inspired production design and boxing-style fight presentation also looked great and helped set the proceedings apart from both the usual WWE product and from NXT. A great concept, and as the tournament enters the later rounds, the matches should get even better as they're allowed more time."

[9.0] "This show felt so utterly different from anything else WWE puts out, it blew me away. The graphics were unique and high-quality, incorporating the wrestlers and their represented nations very well. The presentation of the matches felt very professional, almost MMA-esque. Ranallo and Bryan are a fantastic commentary table, with Ranallo being one of the best play-by-play guys in the industry and Bryan having wonderful knowledge and engaging color commentary. The matches were pretty basic, but all felt important despite none surpassing 10 minutes. Metalik/Saez was a fun opener with some great maneuvers from both guys and some good selling in there too (***). Lun/Daivari was the least-engaging match of the night, and the least-impressive of the two came out on top (**). Petiot/Alexander was good, showing a lot of Cedric's many skills while also giving the relative unknown Petiot a big opportunity to impress, which he took (***1/4). Ibushi/Maluta seemed like a huge mismatch on paper, but I think Maluta proved his worth here. Outside of a misplaced dive to the outside, Maluta's offense was quite good, and Ibushi was as awesome as ever in this match (***1/2). A fantastic start to a whole new direction being taken by WWE in this tournament, and I am excited to see much more."

The opening match served its purpose in getting the crowd excited. Ho Ho Vs Ariya wasnt good and I wasnt to impressed with Ho Ho. Alexander Vs Petiot was decent I liked the ending as we have never seen the Lumbar Check before this in WWE. I really enjoyed the main event. Sean Maluta really impressed me but the outcome was obvious."
