[6.0] "TNA returned to form for its early monthly PPVs with a slightly better side of average show. Most of the matches were fine, with a really good X-Division title outing and a solid main event. Lockdown actually would've been better without the cage and stipulations, as they seemed to cause confusion at various points in the show and a number of participants were generally off their game."

[5.0] "A show overly reliant on gimmicks with a severe lack of good wrestling, and a horrific tragedy associated with it at the top of the card. But man. The performance of AJ in the main event should be at the top of anyone's mind when considering the best wrestlers of this era. Truly great stuff. He and Abyss have tremendous chemistry. Everything on this card is worse than the sum of its parts save for the main event, which is an overlooked classic, and the X-Division X-Scape the Cage match, which is solid-to-good."

[5.0] "The main event is awesome but the rest really isn't. Sonjay/Sabin/Shocker/Shane is fun I guess, especially with the crazy moonsault, but that's about it in terms of what to recommend from this and the nothing but cage matches concept is bad."

[5.0] "Up until the main event this show is a bit of a tough watch. First two matches are nothing to write home about, everything else is either decent, just about good or not good at all but Abyss/AJ is an all-timer and a great note to end on"

[7.0] "Good show. Four way was fast. Hardy vs Raven was exactly what you'd expect from those two in a TNA singles match. X division match was decent. The tag title match had a lot of fun spots. The real reason to watch this show is the main event though. AJ Styles is unreal. His athleticism is off the charts."

[7.0] "I don't always love single-stipulation shows, but the first Lockdown featured enough variations within the cage match format to make it work. The AJ Styles-Abyss main event is easily the best match on the card, but there's some other good stuff in Hardy vs Raven, Daniels vs Skipper, AMW vs Young/Williams and the X-Division four-way to make the show mostly a success. On a sad note, it was during the first minutes of the opening match of this show that Chris Candido suffered the broken leg which would ultimately lead to his early passing."

[8.0] "Lockdown was my first TNA event back in 2005, I still think it's a really good event and the idea of a full show in a Cage is great. The first match has the injury of Candido which changed the pace of the match. Roode vs Rhodes is the only really disappointing match in the card. From the Four Way Elimination onwards it's a solid card. Five recommended matches and a Lethal Lockdown match that is far from perfect but with good ideas. The best match is the main event, Abyss vs AJ Styles is really good and the fans loved it."
