[4.0] "Essentially a Stampede reunion show (though not actually held under that banner, as it was held during one of Stampede's hiatuses), the Stu Hart 50th Anniversary event featured numerous Stampede alumni and also has some interest due to it having the apparent backing of the WWF (both its World and Intercontinental Titles were on the line in sanctioned bouts), and even featured a match between then-WWF and WCW contracted talents (Benoit vs Radford). The best match probably was the Funks vs Pillman & Bruce Hart (the last time the latter pair would team up), which had some pretty wild brawling that spilled out of the ring and around the arena as well as some good standard wrestling action. Of the WWF title matches, Owen vs Razor was probably the better of the two - a reprisal of the '94 King of the Ring finals, here they got about ten extra minutes and made good use of it overall; they did a Dusty finish to allow Owen to get a big hometown moment and still allow Hall to keep his belt - except that the Stampede faithful actually seemed to be supporting Razor more anyway! Bret vs Bulldog was fine, good even, but they had much better matches elsewhere. 123 Kid vs Keith Hart was a solid little match, while Benoit vs Radford was OK but was a bit too long and drawn out. In preliminary matches, Rhonda Singh put on a good short match with longtime rival KC Houston, while the Gothic Knight - who did have an impressive look - seemed completely lost in a drawn-out match with Makhan Singh (the former Bastion Booger, who I still maintain was underrated, couldn't get much out of the Knight). There was also some tribute stuff for Stu Hart, who was in attendance. Overall an OK little show but nothing too essential. Incidentally, seeing the whole show is a bit of an undertaking - RFVideo has a cleaned-up version with Ed Whalen's commentary, but it's missing the opener and the WWF title matches; to see those the best option seems to be a rather rough fan cam on YouTube."
