[6.0] "Very underrated in my views. Curtis Hughes worked as a security guard before becoming a wrestler. His "Mr. Hughes" gimmick based on his previous job, was badass and cool, both in WCW and WWE. He could take some big bumps and sell good, specially when he was in WCW. In WWE he had an interesting but short feud with the Undertaker, but his in-ring work was slow paced. He had also an interesting career as a trainer."

[4.0] "Mr Hughes was one of those big guys with a cool look that got a cup of coffee in the WWF. I think as an enforcer type role of his era he was average. In ring work wasn't really his thing, but he looked menacing and wrested in sun glasses which was pretty cool. I kind of wish he stayed in the Fed for longer to see what else he could do there in the land of the giants for an extended period of time. Also you got to give some points for being a good wrestling trainer because that meant he obviously knew something about business."

Giantfan1980 wrote on 24.04.2022:

[3.0] "One of my favorite things about him is there was a WCW run where he was Curtis Hughes (face), then The Big Cat (heel), then Curtis Hughes again, before settling on The Big Cat after all - all within about 6 weeks, with no mention of any "turns" or reasoning for them. freakin amazing. Stick him in as a ring side influence/force to be reckoned with and we're fine. put him in a tag match and we will likely be ok. About his singles matches though''% Pretty much awful. i just wanted to comment on the flip flopping thing he did."
Ma Stump Puller wrote on 08.05.2021:
[4.0] "Nothing more than a body in the ring, and Hughes usually played the silent enforcer type, being so generic that he could basically be slotted in with anyone at any time, allowing him to feature in basically every Western company you can think of. Decent if he's in the ring with a guy who can hard carry him but he had a bad habit of gassing up in minutes, making his matches a slog if he was in there by himself. He's actually pretty accomplished as a trainer given some of the guys he's helped out (Moose, Crews, etc) so that's a bonus."

I feel like he SHOULD have been more memorable, but he wasn't Unbelievably slow in the ring, I'm amazed how much success he's found as a trainer."
The Old School wrote on 19.01.2018:
[5.0] "Mr. Hughes was not a great wrestler. But it was not his role. He was never be a part of big matches. Hughes was bodyguard for wrestlers like HHH and Jericho. And he was good at this role because of his look. And also he had the best sunglasses in pro wrestling history."

DanTalksRasslin wrote on 01.10.2016:
[4.0] "With his intimidating presence and power-based style, Hughes was generally cast as a bodyguard, enforcer or general heavy, and it was the kind of role a performer like him excelled in. Never seemed to stick around any particular promotion for long, but worked for just about all of the major promotions of his time at one point or another, including the NWA, WWF, WCW, AWA and ECW. He's also had a good deal of success as a trainer, with a hand in training a long list of diverse talents including Jimmy Yang, Heath Slater, Apollo Crews, Moose, Mark Jindrak, Chuck Palumbo and Shynron, among others. You have to respect someone who can wrestle an entire match without taking their sunglasses off."
HeadCheese wrote on 13.09.2016:

He is an okay a big hoss style wrestler with charismatic promos but, but must be a fantastic trainer (he has trained Shynron, Heath Slater, Jonathan Gresham, AR Fox and Fred Yehi) and the best sunglasses wearer of all time (I still wonder how his glasses never fell)."
thebigmontbowski wrote on 08.09.2016:
"Hughes was excellent to watch as a bodyguard type with a scowl and a bad attitude. I always really enjoyed him. It was as he got some tv and some in ring work that he was being a bit exposed as having moderate skills. He needed someone to step in and tune up his moveset with a huge finisher, and he could have been a lot more over. I would watch his entire career history ahead of a ten minute Alex Wright match."
