"From the late 1920s up through 1936, Dick Shikat was one of the bigger stars in wrestling. By all accounts, he was a legit hooker and a great athlete. He would have been remembered as a legend of that era - if not for his orchestration of the single most infamous and industry-damaging incident in the history of wrestling. His shooting on champion Danno O' Mahony, along with the subsequent court case and scandal, permanently tarnished the prestige of the old World Championship and was a primary contributor of US wrestling entering perhaps its darkest age. His name is forever mud because of this."
