[9.0] "Severely underrated when it comes to Shoot Style Wrestlers of the 90s/early 00s and certainly one of the biggest gateways that helped get me into the style through his blending of traditional shoot style with more pro style moves (Giant Swing, Tope Con Hilo) and his gnarly looking massive suplexes. Battlarts is probably my favourite wrestling group of all time and while I'd say Ishikawa & Ikeda are the two best wrestlers in the history of that particular promotion I don't know if anyone is more of a representative of the weird little hybrid shoot style promotion that could than Alex is. Bonus points for having an absolute all timer of an entrance theme song in "AO Corner" too."

[9.0] "Alexander Otsuka is a huge weirdo and that's why I love him. He comes out to a dramatic power ballad, he wrestles in ugly color combos that no sane man would try to mix together and he was one of PRIDE's strangest fighters, being a troll while also having the durability to take a prime Anderson Silva to decision alongside fighting guys who were WAY out of his league yet he went in there and got his ass beat anyway: for the exposure? The money? Not really. He's a entertainer first and foremost, and that's basically the gest of his entire career in wrestling. His legitimate mat-wrestling + freakish atheticism made him a supreme act in his heyday, doing things that no shoot fighter since has dared to do. Otsuka could be grinding someone down in painful holds before jumping out of the ring for some random high spot just to keep the crowd interested. He's a guy who has, dare I say, supreme versatility in the ring; comedy to hardcore to tag to multi-man, Otsuka's been and done everything and he's pretty much done it all well to great alongside that. The guy really hasn't got anything left to prove in the ring bar showing up for cool vet-tags or trying to suplex people with one arm after breaking the other. As I said, dude is a entertainer, you can't stop him doing what he loves lol. One of the greatest, I can only hope more people one day realise that."

[9.0] "Otsuka is one of the more underrated guys in recently wrestling history. Largely because he spent so much time in Battlarts which was a fairly niche promotion and not a ton of their footage is online now. He's more known for his performances in PRIDE, where even though he frequently lost his fights they were almost always entertaining. What would have happened if he had joined a good MMA camp in the first place instead of doing pro wrestling' We will never know. But it would have surely been awesome."

[10.0] "Alexander Otsuka is one of the best shoot-stylists of all time and should have been pushed more in either RINGS or BattlArts. He had the complete package in terms of physical gifts and technical skills and could be a stiff brawler or a smooth grappler. He had a promising start as a shooter before being recruited by BattlArts to compete for their promotion. His abilities as an NHB/MMA fighter translated over to his famous victory over Marco Ruas at Pride 4. His matches against Ikeda, Ishikawa, and others will continue to stand the test of time. Really, I think he was as good as a wrestler as Kurt Angle."
