Alex Riley

[6.0] "Alex Riley is a prime example of someone who fell victim to bad booking on the WWE corporate machine. Here was a guy who if given the opportunity, could've been a main event star. But unfortunately, Alex Riley got in his own way as well. Which is the case with a lot of the guys who came up from developmental early on."

[6.0] "Alex Riley always felt like someone who had the potential to do more than he was given. His early run with The Miz was entertaining, and he had a solid look and decent mic skills. While he never really broke through as a top guy, he connected with fans during his brief solo push in 2011. Unfortunately, inconsistent booking and reported backstage issues seemed to hold him back. His in-ring work was fine, not flashy but serviceable. Definitely not a top-tier talent, but he had his moments and showed flashes of something more."

[4.0] "I feel for him on the whole "Cena buried me" issue, but the fact is he was bland and not very good at anything and simply had "the look." Once he couldn't be carried by The Miz anymore, he faded out. He lost any heat without The Miz, even tho he was coming off of wins against a guy who was recently World Champion. Bad booking was there, but Riley was just never good enough"

[8.0] "Yet another person to add onto the list of fumbled talents. Nearly the entire cast of game show NXT and now him! He was basically LA Knight without a catchphrase: plenty of charisma and likeability but so-so in the ring. His NWA dive botch seemed to make him lose future hope of another return (except for that one match in December). Emanating with talent but egregiously handled."

[8.0] "He was one of my favorite wrestlers when i was just starting to get into WWE, and besides, he has one of the best themes in recent memory. SAY IT TO MY FACE!"

[5.0] "When he attacked The Miz after Over The Limit 2010 i thoutht he would be a good player for the mid card role but after i was seeing him whit his lack of personality i knew he is just another mediocre wrestler signed by WWE because the lack of superstars on the main roster"

[3.0] "Riley was a really bad wrestler who was there because he had "the look", and is only known for being Miz's lackey and then turning face and feuding with him. Was decent on the mic but lost momentum fast after the Miz feud."

[4.0] "Was a good enough wrestler but never really connected with the fans. Worked best with Miz as a lackey. On the mic he was never better than average."

[4.0] "His theme song was more memorable than he was. Even if Cena screwed him over, he still was entirely forgettable, His lasting contribution was his tweet about a "push rage" sign."

[5.0] "He was not bad but not good but he never had the chance to show his talent in the ring and at the microphone. He didn't have a gimmick so it was hard to get attached to the wrestler."

[6.0] "A fairly decent wrestler who was really over, I think if A-Ry was given more time to improve his in-ring work and wasn't politic'd out of the company by John Cena, he could have gone further then just being slotted into NXT. Props to him for decking Michael Cole that one time."

[2.0] "He was good as a lackey for The Miz, and that's it. He had zero charisma, worked the WWE style to bland perfection, and the RAGE gimmick was cringe as hell. I still remember the story of someone holding a "Push Rage" sign at a WWE show, and then A-Ry ig'd or qoute tweeted it endorsing it, just for the person who had the sign say "No dude I'm talking about my CAW. ". That's how I'll always remember Alex Riley."

[3.0] "Really bad booking when it came to Alex Riley. I liked him initially as Miz's lackey, but everything after, including the breakup was handled poorly. He moved to NXT to try to find redemption, but failed big time there. His body of work screams "generic" to me."

[5.0] "I feel that Alex really got the short end of the stick. As a jock sidekick heel, he was great and was actually passable in the ring and on the mic. However, as soon as his role with The Miz ended it seemed like WWE gave up on him altogether. He was never going to be a main eventer or even an upper midcarder but he certainly could've had a healthy career in the lower card. His commentary career was the last-ditch effort for WWE to keep him employed"

[6.0] "Riley ran into a lot of bad luck and unfortunate booking during his WWE career. Does not look like he'll get a second chance either. Sad."

[6.0] "Honestly Riley has the look and all in all he wasn't terrible in the ring and he had decent mic skills especially as the jock type character. I was very surprised to find that WWE released him."

[5.0] "Jeez, I think the hate for Alex Riley is a little unwarranted. He was decent in the ring, and surprisingly over with the fans after his feud with The Miz in 2011 (granted The Miz can get anyone over). He could've been a solid face in the mid card but he sank hard. NXT did nothing for him and his commentary was awful. It's a shame too because he was a good wrestler, had he debuted 10 years earlier and I think he would have had a better career than he did."

[4.0] "Alex Riley was an inconsistent wrestler without a solid grasp of ring work, and though he managed to portray a convincing jerk upon his initial debut, he was never able to sell himself as a babyface. Between the ropes he was always heartily generic, and while he was a fairly good color commentator, he was nowhere near the level of someone like Corey Graves. Honestly, I'm surprised it took the WWE so long to give up on the Riley experiment. Was it based on his looks alone? I can't imagine it was; the company has dozens of bland and muscular jocks to rely on. But what else could it have been? Frankly, I don't think Riley ever had a memorable match, and his greatest flaw was his failure to adapt or improve."

[3.0] "Just absolutely does not have a mind for the business. Or at all, really. "Rage" was a terrible gimmick, that he executed terribly. His Twitter account is like a constant reminder of why he can't get over. The only time in his career that the crowd cared about him was during his feud with The Miz, who no matter how you feel about him, is one of the most effective heels in the company, capable of getting almost anyone cheered. Alex Riley is unlikable, remarkably out-of-touch, and even in an entertainment-based promotion like WWE some of that might be forgivable if he was a star in the ring. But he's not. In the ring, he's typical of the guys who started out and came up through WWE's developmental program."

[3.0] "Minimal charisma. Bad on commentary and as a promo. Can't stay healthy. Barely even okay in the ring."

[6.0] "Had a great look, made a good apprentice to The Miz back in 2010 and not all that bad in the ring. The sad part is that due to his douchey behavior on Twitter (as of late) WWE hasn't been all that kind to Alex Riley. Because of this, Alex Riley is on the verge of getting a pink slip and as we move on to 2016? It's safe to say there isn't much shelf life to Riley but, I did like him to a decent extent."

[6.0] "He's on, he's off, he's on again! On and off the TV is getting him nowhere, from commentary to in ring competition for a month is getting you nowhere Riley Rage!"

[8.0] "This rating is for Alex Riley as a COLOR COMMENTATOR. In this regard, Riley is great. He is a natural on the mic. He was actually a kinda decent wrestler as like some jock douche, but just couldn't get over after splitting from the Miz. In this current position I think he has a lengthy WWE future. Whenever he steps into the ring, though, it seems like the matches are very poorly received. As a commentator: 8/10. Wrestler: 4/10."

[5.0] "A decent wrestler who was on the way to good things in his career... but he's now become a terrible commentator on NXT."

[7.0] "Somewhat of an underrated guy in the ring, i always found him to be wayyy much better than the miz, this guy had a good build and as a wrestler i always found his spinebusters to be one of the nastiest that i've ever seen. This guy certainly came out for some great pops from the crowd, shame what happened to him to be soo diminished by cena and the creative team because of a small irrelevant dissaray. I would love to see this guy wrestle again and drop the commentary/pre-show panels he's young he's capable and he could go over 7/10"

[4.0] "Very uninteresting personality. Both, in the ring, and on the commentary booth. The epitome of "generic"."

[4.0] "A couple of years ago I kept hearing how A. Riley, who was at that time in developmental, was the next main eventer. Well that didn't turn out so well... Riley has charisma, mick-skills and a good look, but is average in the rng and keeps botching (good example would be the Royal Rumble, when Riley eliminated himself by accident). In the wwe you simply can't keep messing up so often (and if the rumours about his conflict with Cena are true, you definitely can't do that too, even if you are justified... )"

[7.0] "This guy had so much potential. I have no idea why WWE killed his push like they did."

[7.0] "One of the most underrated superstars in WWE. He has got talent, he is good in the ring and he has got good mic skills."
