[7.0] "Way to put over the young talent! I'm kidding. Relax. This was the right kind of finish for this storyline with Jericho getting the big win to put an end to the rivalry...for now. I don't know if it's their last match forever, but it's the last match for now. I'm also glad they had Jake Hager go after Wardlow to take away the interference factor. I thought they did a nice job telling a story with MJF selling the back injury to set up the finish since the Walls of Jericho is a move that focuses on the lower back, so it made sense for it to be used as the finish and MJF tapped out for the first time in his AEW career."
[6.0] "Good match but it pissed me off when they said there was no count out when they were fighting on the outside then they do a dramatic count out spot."
[7.0] "Decent match here where both sell a vocal point of injury MJF tries to cheat in any possible way Wardlow , Floyd and all. I was not excited with the ref thing as i thought Aubrey would turn see the foot and restart it but it worked well as u had 2 other officials to see. Jericho gets MJF in the walls and with all the back injury of MJF makes him tap out to the fans cheers while i do think it would've been good for Jericho to retire here it doesn't happen."
[9.0] "So this was one of my first introductions to aew as a whole. Chris Jericho was and still is my all time favorite wrestler. When the ref counted to 3 my heart legitimately stopped for a second and I got scared I would never get to see him wrestle again."
[8.0] "Solid end to a year long story with a hot crowd. The false finish did get me at the time. This feud had its ups and downs but I can't really complain that much. I think this was a satisfying end to it."
[6.0] "This feud was exactly something that you see and the storyline you can highly consider 10/10, but the match...not in the same level, even being good and emotional sometimes."
[6.0] "Another match was like expected. You just know whenever MJF is in the ring it's must see for his antics and the commentary also seem to rise up to the occasion. Got to admit the ending was an awesome twist."
[5.0] "Classic case of MJF doing the best he can with the deck hes been given. Jericho hasnt completely forgotten the ability to go but its night and day when hes in the ring with someone as strong as MJF. Offence just looks so slow and stilted. Not sure how I felt about the fake finish, fun in the moment but when thought about makes 0 sense."
[7.0] "This was one of the last matches of Chris Jericho that I enjoyed and didn't absolutely hate. Of course MJF is an amazing talent who put on a decent match with Jericho, it just wasn't as amazing as I believe people expected it to be."
[7.0] "Just a strong match with deliberate and brutal pacing that perfectly matched the narrative coming in. Some really great bumps, some classic heel work from MJF, and an all-around good time that culminates with a very well-executed (if unnecessary) false finish."
[8.0] "MJF immediately trolls the crowd by recreating Jericho's WWE entrance and then saying it was Jericho's last match on the tron. Since the downfall of Chris Benoit, Jericho has become my favorite performer of all-time. But I think it's time for him to hang it up. He can't move as well as he used to and he has to rely on his opponents to make him look decent. MJF does his part here."
[6.0] "It had its moments and the crowd was really into it but the false finish felt really unnecessary and wasn't effective in protecting anything really. It's also a shame that the labors of Jericho building up to this match didn't actually play a part in it at all. It tried to tell a story but many parts just didn't connect, and while the in ring action delivered enough, there wasn't anything to support it enough."
[4.0] "The only real saving grace of this match was the crowd popping big for Aubrey reversing the decision, which was dumb but hey it worked in the moment and it's at least something to remember in an otherwise completely forgettable match that finally ended a much too long feud."
[8.0] "This was actually far better than it had any right to be. It was a really good match with some good spots and moves, MJF pinning Jericho with his leg on the rope and the match restarting added drama and tension to the match and the ending was satisfying."
[2.0] "This feud went on far too long as did this match. To add insult to injury, the finish was truly awful. Other AEW referees wander out and restart the match because of shenanigans? Why wouldn't they do that every time that happens? So, so stupid and nonsensical. The match didn't have botches and was performed well but the whole storyline was a slog and by the time this match happened any investment in the outcome was long gone. On a show full of good matches and intrigue and surprise debuts, we couldn't done without this."
[7.0] "Pretty good match between these two: there were some crazy spots like the powerbomb on the apron by Jericho or the powerbomb from the top rope by Mjf and in general the action was good but never clicked with me at a 100% until Wardlow and Hager's brawl and Mjf bat shot. I loved the false finish and Mjf tapping out was a great moment. Both men were good and I had fun watching it. 7/10 - 3.75*/5*"
[6.0] "Among the singles matches this was the worst match of the show and the one I like the least by far, it was worse than the previous match on Dynamite and I don't know why Jericho came out on top of this feud which was precisely to give one more up in the solo run by MJ with Pinnacle (***)"
[10.0] "Better than their Dynamite match. Also for my money The Greatest Reverse Dusty Finish of all time, MJF looked good in defeat and Chris career is not over ****1/4 (Put 10 since I think the rating is too low)"
[7.0] "Personally, great fight for two great entertainers in the industry today, they did quite well and I never imagined that Jericho would have much chemistry with MJF, it was very good fight."
[8.0] "A vastly under-rated contest in my opinion. This was a great last straw match with Jericho finally tasting sweet victory over MJF in the best fashion possible making him submit. The drama and action especially with the restarting of the match and all was superb. They literally had the crowd deeply invested by pulling their emotional heartstrings. The crowd was heavily and firmly behind the veteran and highly respected babyface in Jericho against the despised and resented heel in MJF. MJF went right after the arm which makes sense too as it is the weak area of the armor, the ring-psychology is solid and strong. The presentation of psychological aspects is commendable. The stakes of this match are high and the hatred is on a sky-high level. This factor is stressed upon by the brawl that eventually proceeds to the outside and the exchange of closed fists which are deemed as an illegitimate means of offense. Jericho is dominated for the first half of the match where the boos are poured onto the smug chickenshit heel 'MJF'. Jericho levels the playing field after making the most of a provided opportunity and hits a home-run with it. He manages to avoid a moon-sault by MJF and the catches him as he attempts the leap-frog and power-bombing him on the sharpest side of the apron. His back connects first with the edge of the ring and he is clearly in excruciating pain and this hampers his mobility. He aches and screams in pain and sells the injury like a million bucks. He is such a great ring psychologist nonetheless. The swerve with MJF using Floyd and the Judas effect to pin Jericho as Aubrey thought only to find out that Jericho put his foot on the rope so he did not actually lose. The match is restarted culminating into the finale where MJF is forced to submit as he has exceeded his breaking point. Jericho's career lives on, it isn't over yet. ****"
[5.0] "Jericho should be better utilized in a non wrestling role now that he is over 50 yrs old. He has done everything and was one of the biggest reasons for AEW's initial success but it's time to move on to younger and better prospects. Even though he can't quite wrestle like in the past, he is a veteran of the business and could contribute a lot backstage. MJF continues to impress. They tried hard but it was decent at best. **3/4"
[9.0] "I'm not sure why this is one is rated relatively low as I thought this was a great match. Maybe it isn't as great as other matches in terms of the work rate, but it is in terms of the storytelling and sometimes I value that more in a wrestling match. This feud had gone on for a long time and his career being on the line in a promotion that has been known to honour those kinds of stipulations made this the most emotionally charged match on the card. MJF's heel work is one of the best things about the current AEW product and here his entrance alone teasing the Y2J style countdown was just amazing. The match itself felt physical and that tease where MJF had won with Jericho's foot on the ropes and then Justin Roberts announcing Jericho had to retire from wrestling in AEW was one of the best teases I've ever seen. Thank god the match continued. It's just pure poetry to see Jericho win after that tease and continue his career. Amazing stuff."
[8.0] "Was better after rewatching it actually ! It was such a competitive matchup to close out MJF & Jericho story with the crowd really invested into it !"
[9.0] "I actually really, really liked this! Jericho is pulling off some incredibly impressive moves for his age lately, and the finish to this was EXCELLENT, with MJF playing his character great as always and a screwy finish to really pull the audience's emotional strings. I do wish it was faster though, the pace was pretty unfortunate, though Jericho being able to do this at all at his age is great. *4.25*"
[7.0] "It is very readable that the match will be restarted and MJF will lose, but nevertheless, Chris Jericho has shown that at any age he is capable of cool things. Great storytelling, MJF is a real bastard, I love it.***1/2"
[7.0] "Definitely the best match between these two in my opinion, but that isn't saying much to be honest. I really hated this feud going in (God it wouldn't end), but this turned out to be pretty alright. Jericho played the hits the best he has in a while and MJF was a good foil for a usually eh babyface Jericho. The finish is kinda shaky in my opinion but it didn't hamper my enjoyment of the match."
[6.0] "The finish for this really lit up the crowd but I wasn't buying it. Brings up too many questions about the officiating. It was a fun closing stretch though."
[7.0] "A very psychological match which it needed to be, given the competitors. A fitting end to the rivalry and though the finish cast the notion of absolute referee authority into a bit of a grey area, it was fine for me. A pretty cheap way of creating drama, yes, but Dusty finishes are not something AEW overdoes."
[7.0] "A well-paced entertaining match, and a masterclass in doing a dusty finish properly, but dragged a little at points I felt, perhaps suffered from how blatant it was that Jericho was winning, and there were points where I felt MJF was almost selling a little too well for the heel role he was supposed to be playing. I know that sounds nitpicky and counter-intuitive, but there was a point towards the middle of the match where he was selling so well and in such a non-exaggerated style that I got the impression he was trying to get sympathy, and so between that and the moonsault he went for I briefly had the sense that they might've been turning him, which was interesting while it lasted, but also puzzling to say the least. Still, a perfectly adequate match that built to a legitimately great closing stretch, evening out to something above-average, but a little unspectacular for what was theoretically at stake."
[7.0] "The storytelling as well as the psychology were excellent. Slow pace but man MJF and Jericho were on fire. The first is a great scumbag and the later is excellent either is a face or a heel. The Dusty finish was a nice touch, it was well done and smartly executed. Great ending."
[4.0] "Out of shape 50 year old made the 25 year old tap out. The nostalgia act beat the future of the company, it's bad when WWE does it and it's just as bad when AEW does it. Aside from the result, the match itself was nothing to write home about, MJF hit some of Jericho's signature moves such as variations of the lionsault and the codebreaker but the commentary team completely ignored it. I thought the finish was brilliant until they reversed the decision and Y2J won. Jericho just can't go anymore. The only real highlight of the whole thing was MJF's entrance. At least MJF will finally be free from Jericho and can move onto better things"
[8.0] "Great setup for the Dusty Finish. The whole reason the other ref was out there was because of MJF's attempt at Wardlow shenanigans. Complete backfire on the heel's nefarious plan. All in all a brilliant ending. It gives Jericho his revenge and, similar to the Mox match, still protects MJF."
[9.0] "I really liked this. I thought it was the best match they've had. The pace was perfect for this kind of match, and MJF is such a good heel that having him work on top for a long part of the match was great. The powerbomb on the apron set the tone for the finish, and MJF sold the back really good. The ending was nice because they worked the crowd and gave them a happy finish. ****1/4"
[8.0] "Wow. No idea why this is only sitting at a 6.85. This match was fantastic from the opening bell until the very end. I especially liked the armdrag exchange, double missed dropkick/kipup spot at the very beginning, it set the tone for the whole match with lots of back and forth punctuated by extended moments of either MJF or Jericho starting to dominate until the other hits a big counter. The selling was perfect and the psychology of MJF working the arm and Jericho the back was executed to perfection. Yes they teased a Dusty finish at the end but so what? I think it set an interesting precedent for the use of multiple officials down the line. 8/0 easy and if Jericho could go like he could a decade or so ago this could have been as high as a 9/10 or even a 10/10 if they really gave them time to work."
[6.0] "The last minute or so after the match restarted was electric, but the match itself wasn't anything special overall. I did enjoy the last moment, mostly because of the crowd being so into it, but I didn't think it was worth the wait at nearly 20 minutes."
[9.0] "This was very dramatic and heated. Maybe not the most athletic or technically sound match, but they told a great story and the restart actually helped the drama of the finish. The pop for the tap from MJF was terrific and the selling by MJF was top notch. Great stuff."
[6.0] "In the moment I feel I would have rated this match an 8 just for the raw emotions I was feeling. With that being said, with a couple days to think on it the match restart really sours the match for me. AEW uses ref mistakes/distractions do frequently that I don't think it can be justified for them to correct it just this one time. It seems to me like they should have used the foot on the rope finish for the dynamite match to set up a rematch for the ppv."
[3.0] "I truthfully would like to meet who this match was for, let alone the entire backwards feud. This match was fine, not their best. It didnt feel like a PPV match, especially when they just had one on tv. The ending wasn't good, it sets a precedent for heels not winning how heels do. I think this match should have taken place months down the road after both had moved on to different feuds. Totally burnt out on both of these guys now."
[6.0] "I liked it, however it felt a bit off with the overbooked finish. Not sure that Jericho winning this feud with such a heavy stipulation needed that controversy and match restart."
[7.0] "A tricky one to rate. The in-ring action was fairly slow and straightfoward for the most part, aside from the excellent apron moves and MJF's surprising Asai moonsault. The story, on the other hand, was really well executed in my opinion. They kept it simple early on, with a focus on Jericho's arm and MJF's back, setting up for their respective finishers. Then came the false finish. Normally I'm not a fan of matches being restarted: I think it really undercuts the heels when refs can just change their mind and overturn a decision if cheating is revealed. However, I thought the way that this particular false finish was executed was really, really clever. The restart had legitimacy since it came from refs who were at ringside to break up the brawl, but it avoided raising the question of why this doesn't happen every time there's an 'error' in officiating, since it was a coincidence that there were extra refs around the ring. And as soon as the bell rang again, the crowd, who had been flagging, were sucked right back into the match. As a result, the final few minutes had an urgency that the rest of the match had lacked. Clever stuff and an enjoyable bout."
[8.0] "I know people didnt like the ending - having to suspend some logic for why the referees only sometimes catch cheating is annoying - BUT i do think that it worked, personally i got very suckered into the build and thinking Jericho was going to lose which made the first finish really connect but for people that weren't as invested i can see why it wouldn't work. I thought the MJF entrance was fantastic and on re-watch it clearly connected with the crowd. The Arm v Back psychology worked well and the story telling from both was impressive."
[8.0] "Great work and a great conclusion to their feud. Chris Jericho's entrance is not perfect, I really hoped to hear him sing his song. The match is really good, MJF is my favorite top heel, he almost wins by one of the terrible cheatings in Wrestling history. But the match goes on and we get a solid ending, with the right winner. Jericho continues to be one of the top stars in AEW, MJF is probably going to be a champion in a few months. Great match. ****"
[7.0] "Wasn't invested going in, didn't think the crowd were either. MJF would flip them off to muted response. But down the stretch, after some really big moves like the apron and top rope powerbombs, they got the crowd into it, which whisked me along too. The false finish annoyed me, but in hindsight that was the intended effect as I popped as much as anyone. Would've been good if Jericho had got that step back on the final Liontamer."
[8.0] "It was a very good storytelling match and it made for a strong feel good moment. I didn't hate the Dusty finish, there was a good kayfabe reason to the presence of other refs, which is a pleasant surprise because AEW officiating is usually a hot mess."
