507.10.2025benny5bellys5.0Papa Shango, Kama and Godfather is a wild old ride of gimmicks and shows just how willing/desperate WWF were at the time in terms of throwing shit at the wall and seeing what sticks. It feels incredibly passe now but teenage me did quite enjoy the Godfather stuff. In an alternative universe, he never got the Godfather gimmick and does occasional one shots in GCW as Papa Shango. If WWE had a sense of humour he would enter the rumble in that gimmick.

907.09.2025Ilovewrasslin I love wrestlers with creepy gimmicks, and his is a ten for me! Very original, very engaging. I wish I could see more wrestlers today with his style and energy.

1210.08.2025crs2856.0Solid in ring worker. He played a ton of gimmicks most notably the bad Papa Shango gimmick and the perfect Attitude Era gimmick in the Godfather. He was solid in the ring with good brawling. He played characters very well. Did have a peak in the midcard but was still a very enjoyable presence with a long tenure.
1306.08.2025MateuszExtreme5.0Godfather and Papa Shango are definitely memorable characters in wrestling history. While neither persona showcased exceptional in-ring skills, they stood out for their unique and entertaining gimmicks. Godfather's comedic, fun-loving persona brought a different energy to the shows, which I appreciated. However, from a wrestling ability perspective, he was quite limited. Overall, I'd rate him 5/10 because, despite the lack of technical talent, his characters left a lasting impression and brought entertainment value to the audience.

1516.04.2025BMN8.0Despie I born in 21 century. For me and my friends Papa Shango forever will be childhood memory. He's even more funny than his alterego Godfather and I think that's the point

1702.03.2025Wangler7.0From Papa Shango to Kama, Godfather to Goodfather, Wright could certainly work a gimmick. Huge man and perfectly passable in the ring, if not exceptional, he more than compensated by being highly charismatic and loads of fun as The Godfather. At least one bonus point for being in the Nation of Domination and a legit Voodoo curse upon anyone who still insists that Papa Shango was shit.

2103.02.2025NickyF888.0Average-to-good wrestler with amazing charisma and versatility when it comes to gimmicks: he was a voodoo priest, an MMA fighter, a pimp and a censorship suit... all in the same promotion and all rolls played to a T. I'm one of the few oddballs who liked Papa Shango more than the Godfather. Shame that the character wasn't well received and better developed.

2321.01.2025damiendemento18.0One the most awesome finishers as Papa Shango. That inverted shouldebreaker should be brought back today. Besides that not a bad wrestler. Moved well and did some great moves. The voodoo gimmick was perfect for the time. The rest of his career has been good but not as great as Papa Shango.

2822.11.2024tmxicon4.0The wrestling equivalent of a character actor and the success of those characters is all over the place. He certainly looked the part. In the ring, though, he was unspectacular. Not downright awful, but was never doing anything more than the bare minimum.

3114.10.2024Conquistador376.0Hard to rate, so I will choose the math route. The Soultaker was perfect for The Global Wrestling Federation (7.75). Papa Shango was the logical continuation of the look and is criminally underrated; that's some of my favorite wrestlecrap! LOVED the entrance music and that was my go to character in the Sega Genesis version of Royal Rumble. Killer looking shoulder breaker... (8). Kama was silly, with all of those tats - he's either Soultaker or Papa Shango, none of us bought he was some MMA guy. It was a good gimmick *IN THEORY* but, cmon. That's Papa Shango! (4). His stint in The Nation of Domination worked (6). The Godfather did almost NOTHING in the ring but who doesn't love that gimmick? Its beyond ridiculous. When I rewatched the rise of The Godfather a few years ago I would take a hit every time he started his pre match promo and laughed with it all, BUT his ring work was ULTRA DULL and he ALWAYS LOST (6). His time in Right to Censor wasn't very good and that was definitely the Stevie Richards n Ivory show (4). The average is 5.95 rounded up. I feel like I'm being extremely generous...
3202.10.2024face painted legend7.0What always stood out to me about Charles Wright was his ability to be overly believable in any character he was given due to his commitment to making them work. Papa Shango scared me to death as a kid, KAMA I believed to be a real tough guy who could beat anyone up, same when he moved to the kama mustafa character (he was the LEGIT toughest guy in the whole nation outside of Ron Simmons), then the godfather was one of the most over acts of its time. He was entertaining, he was charismatic, he had the look, he had the size, he could get whatever reaction he was looking to get out of the crowd based on whatever character he was at the time, and he could cut one heck of a promo. Yeah, he was not very memorable in the ring as far as in ring work, but when you're that over as a personality I don't think it matters. He had a lot of memorable segments as well across all 4 characters.

5726.05.2023Giantfan19804.0Charles Wright went through a lot of gimmicks and as kids, we thought Papa Shango was pretty cool but nothing really became of that gimmick. Then he got repackaged into Kama the Supreme Fighting Machine which was meh, then he joined the Nation Of Domination as Kama Mustafa, meh again. Charles didn't hit it big until he became the Godfather. For about a year he was pretty over because the wrestling pimp fit right into that trashy Attitude Era. His ring work wasn't impressive.

7427.09.2022TheOneAndOnlyCactus6.0Sure he wasn't the greatest in-ring worker in the world, but man was he charismatic. He gave it socks for any role he was given and as the Godfather, had an infectious energy that made his matches worth watching.
7524.08.2022jonsnoe6.0
7623.07.2022Leth994.0Massively basic. He doesn't have the in-ring ability and failed as Kama Mustafa when they tried to give him a more in-ring character. As Papa Shango he was...normal. Godfather was bad but a great character and Goodfather was forgettable.

8506.07.2021juiceisloose4.0I'm not going to lie; even tho his pimp character wasn't my favorite, at least he played it well and looked like he was actually enjoying it while doing so. However as far as his in ring abilities he was below avarage so i wouldn't rank him anywhere above 4.

Trotzdem Kult!

9517.12.2020Old ride long line7.0Ahh the good old days when watching Monday night raw was like a live look in on the worlds craziest bachelor party. Remember that time godfathers ho won the hardcore championship for like 10 seconds lol I? ll never forget it. The only way to really appreciate the godfather and some of the other filler characters from that time period is to go back and watch the attitude era, episode by episode. He had some decent matches and was by no means bad in the ring but his best stuff was the promos and backstage comedy segments.

9722.10.2020JBoogieRom289.0I don't understand why he is so low ranked because he had the best gimmick of his time. He had some of the best promos because he brought fear to the audience. Does anyone remember the legendary segment when he made Ultimate Warrior throw up that gross stuff?
