[9.0] "Butch Reed had great success in top Southern territories as both a tag team and singles wrestler, winning top titles and being the NWA title contender for Bill Watts. He made it to the national/global level with mixed results in the WWF but had a great run as the veteran of the excellent Doom tag team with Ron Simmons in WCW. Hacksaw deserves a WWE Legends contract or something like that so this iconic wrestler can be showcased for a younger audience."

It's a shame he could never quite find that breakout thing, because he could go in the ring, with the right opponents, but the personality was just never quite there."

[9.0] "Edited to embellish: The Original Soup Bones! (The Undertaker is just a Butch Reed wannabe). I loved this dude, and his career is definitely enjoyable to rewatch. One of the best physiques in the whole business. His whole Mid South run was solid featured notable chemistry with Ted DiBiase & was Peak #1. One of the major players in the best era of the territory. Great behind the mic, completely confident and a total natural. His short stint in WCCW was 100% dominance and he looked impressive & nothing but. Although Vince McMahon had high hopes for Butch, his WWF run was mired by an aching body. It's completely true that he no showed the night he was written to win the Intercontinental title, but he was sore, not in good spirits and needed just one night to rest...oops, shoulda waited just 24 more hours I guess. Even so, he gelled very well with Tito Santana while there and was the first person eliminated in the first televised Royal Rumble, neat! His time in WCW started rocky (at best) but once paired with Ron Simmons as The Team of DOOM! it was time for peak #2. I absolutely LOVE his time as a member of Doom, top tier tag team. The matches with The Steiner Brothers are must watch 90's tag classics. However, injuries from years of football, wrestling and weight lifting finally tanked his career. crud. Potential was arguably limitless, but injuries are a b! tch. Rest in peace Butch, I was kicking booty with the HCTP CAW I made of you the month you passed."

While he had been in contendership for the NWA World Title during his time in Mid-South, he never quite reached the top of the card in the bigger companies, though he did have a good tag team run as half of Doom with Ron Simmons in WCW in the early '90s, which did earn him runs with the NWA and WCW Tag belts. A good talent who perhaps never quite reached the peak of his potential."

His run in WWF did not really go anywhere. In WCW he was great with Ron Simmons as Doom. Too bad he did not get a bigger push in his career."

The company's 2nd Hacksaw was an amazing athlete, and spent time as Watt's #1 contender for the NWA World Title, but also soon after went north, which didn't turn out well for him. Later in his career his teaming with Ron Simmons in Doom was solid but he never realized the stardom I once thought he was destined for."
