He wasn't tall, or muscular, or clean shaven. He was a big, hairy everyman, and I liked that. Hardcore stipulations have always been some of my favorite, and Mick Foley was the king of those. He is so many things. Hilarious, Captivating, Tough, he is probably more successful with promos than any other wrestler ever. His willingness to do almost anything in the ring is something i have immense respect and adoration for. He's made stars out of so many people, he's had so many classic matches, and he's succeeded in just about every role and character thrown his way. |

His ability to take a licking and keep on kicking is what made him such an iconic hero, and he was an AMAZING seller too... if he was really selling all that pain. Every little twitch of his limp, hunch of his shoulders, and every little squeak of pain. The man was a badass and if I had just one wish, it'd be that all of that pain wasn't as real as it was. Also, he could work heel or face with equal skill and brought a genuine sense of the unpredictable to his matches; simply put, anything could happen in his matches (and it often did). There's also how his work always allowed his opponent to flourish and get themselves over as much as possible because he was such an expert in how to best work the business of the business. Finally, it's worth mentioning that none other than Dynamite Kid, Steve Austin, Terry Funk and Bret Hart all highly praised Foley's skills as a wrestler and as a performer and you really can't get higher praise than that. It's truly earned too. |

Cactus Jack was a fun hardcore style wrestler, his best work was as a heel in ECW where Mick Foley was cutting his best promos and generating the most heat for being the opposite of what ECW stood for, his feud with Triple H is close second for Cactus' best work. Mankind was Mick's darkest character that gave us his most iconic and memorable moments from winning the WWF Championship to being thrown off the Hell in a Cell structure, you name it. Dude Love is his weakest gimmick, but it was still a funny character full of charisma, his feud with Steve Austin was great. Mick Foley is a true legend in the business, deserves all the respect and admiration in the world, one of the best promo artists of all time and was willing to sacrifice his body for our entertainment no matter how unnecessary it was. |
