729.04.2022Conquistador377.0Pros: totally solid work, one of the measuring sticks pre 1985. Cons: oh good lord what a hideously ugly man! Lorrrd have mercy on that poor dude's face. If anyone in wrestling needed to and really should have worn a mask: it was THIS GUY. Had he worn a hood his whole career, while keeping "The Crippler" moniker, I'd give him a 9 or 10. That face though. yeeesh.

1217.12.2018JEK 199110.0Talented wrestler and very fast. He was a great heel in the San Francisco area. Sold out the Cow Palace of its all time record. He was great with Pat Patterson.
1317.11.2016Squared Circle9.0One of the best tag team wrestlers ever. He tagged at a premier level with several partners, although the team with Bockwinkle was the pinnacle of his career. They were arguably the best team of a generation, across any territory. His tag team success does obscure his singles work, were he always put on a good show, generated heat with a great work ethic. He never grabbed a big belt, which is why I leave him at a nine, but if you are unfamiliar with his body of work you owe it to yourself to research his career.
1417.11.2016Bigchiefmartin10.0A consummate wrestling technician, he has influenced generations of wrestling greats and established himself as one of the great legends of professional wrestling. Wrestling fans often like to debate over which man is the greatest wrestler ever! One wrestler who could truly lay claim to this distinction would surely be the incredibly gifted and multi-talented Ray "The Crippler" Stevens, he never won the World title and wrestled during and era long since passed, Stevens (a man who is cited by many of his peers as the single best professional wrestler in the world during his time in the business) is often overlooked as being one of sports entertainment's greatest stars. Notwithstanding his lack of notoriety amongst current followers of the "sport, " the fact remains that The Crippler set a standard of believability and realism inside the ring that few were able to match and he was unquestionably one of the most influential and important wrestlers in the history of the wrestling business! While he no doubt had the talent and ability to become a great NWA World champion, his (at times legendary) love for having a good time was probably also the factor that would keep him from an otherwise sure run with the NWA belt. feel ashamed I can't give him something higher then a ten ! The 2 fools who gave him a a rank of a 6 then the moron who gave him 4 most have never Google him seen him knows anything about him only knows him from the 80's when he in his late 40's and in his 50's
1504.09.2016SpruseJohnson10.0Maybe one of the two best along with Billy Robinson to wrestle in the AWA to never hold the world heavyweight championship. This guy was a headliner and should of got a run with the strap
1623.07.2016Titansrevenger9.0Although he wrestled before my time I have seen old footage of the man and have heard his name mentioned with much praise. His accomplishments alone and name recognition should be enough to give him a higher rating. His tag team with Pat Patterson was legendary and Bret Hart said they were the top tag team of there generation. It is dreadful that his rating is not higher.
1730.10.2015ShooterMcShoot10.0Why on earth is Ray Stevens only a 6? It's like the younger people on this site really have no clue as to what a good worker is, I guess. Stevens was an amazing an influential talent who had a ton of charisma and was a big draw. What more could you ask for?
1830.10.2015mdkarl10.0people who don't rate stevens as a 9 or 10 really have no freaking clue what they are talking about or are strictly rating him on his work in the 1980's when he was well into his late 40's. I have heard many old timers in the pod casts call stevens one of the top 3-4 workers of all time. Some have named him the best they ever saw. Nick Bockwinkle worships the ground Steven's walked on. Stevens was the headliner out in California when it was the biggest drawing promotion in the country. Then he spent much of the decade at the top of the AWA cards when AWA was the biggest promotion going. Sadly I missed Stevens in his prime. My first impression of him was his very limited run in WWE where he was basically being jobbed out to the federation's big stars when they attempted to expand out west and get some credibility there. I have made an effort to find youtube of Stevens early work though and he deserves the 10 rating... stevens was near perfect in the ring.
