[5.0] "i used to kind of enjoy Joe Hendry as someone who can get pretty into a comedy gimmick. i think he's completely fine in the ring - maybe he won't be a crazy standout performer but he is a professional worker with a decent build who can look convincing in a match. honestly in the current landscape of the WWE he is a more convincing performer than a lot of his contemporaries, which is a little funny. i think his music thing and the whole "And He Appears" joke are entertaining enough and he's a totally fine talker who s just naturally likable. unfortunately his transition away from TNA, where he had a genuinely pretty good run as a surprisingly top guy (including some decent matches! ), to the WWE, has been sort of hard to describe as anything but a disaster. anything good about Hendry is no longer emphasized, he does not wrestle anymore, and when he does it is to basically just get clowned on by everyone. it's a little sad to see his transition into a characterless jobber but it is what it is and WWE clearly did not want two wacky characters on their main roster at once so the looming shadow of Danhausen showing up right after him pretty much consumed him completely."

Even though I think his current schtick is entertaining, I also question how long it can engage people before they get bored. The theme song, the "say his name & he appears"... that stuff doesn't have the longest shelf life before the cuteness dries up. The problem I have with Hendry at this point is that his in ring work is super basic. Also, he looks good enough in TNA, but when he was standing across the ring from Orton at WrestleMania a couple of weeks ago, he looked way out of Randy's league."

A great worker outside, gets his song stuck in your dam head (Say his name and, I'm not finishing the rest you know what is lmao). Joe is a great wrestler. We can't deny his Indy work was great, his first Impact run was confusing at best, then his ROH run was honestly decent, ruined by Covid, then his second run with TNA/Impact has been successful. Sadly, this is his PEAK, likely.. I feel like Hendry will continue to be big, but not as big as he was during the summer of this year. All in all, Hendry is a great performer outside with his entrance work, needs a bit more training in ring, and that this is his peak. I cannot WAIT to see what he does next in TNA/WWE, however. 8/10. Update- I had him at a 8, but his match with Nic and his royal rumble appearance (even getting Sheamus involved) was kinda cool, Bumped up to a 9."

He is incredibly mediocre in the ring and has been for years. He is not a credible world champion in my eyes at all, as he doesn't have the versatility, presence or in ring acumen to carry a promotion on his back. He looked like a loser in the Rumble, which said a lot about how the WWE thinks of the promotion that crowned him champ, and the merits of his championship pedigree. I am happy for the guy that he's getting some success but he is bad."

Whilst he's not particularly bad by any stretch of the imagination, he's not gonna turn too many heads through workrate alone. But that's fine, not every wrestler can, and Hendry recognises that. Which is why he gets a higher rating than your average wrestler in that category, because his gimmick work is spectacular and, despite it going on for over a decade now, still manages to get itself over to the point that, as a guest, he's genuinely more over than most of the resident talent in NXT. The problem is that with the increased exposure and pressure to be more palatable to corporate sensibilities, the meme might get run into the ground a little, as WWE is often wont to do. Still, Hendry is managing to navigate that minefield rather deftly, although it'll be a sad day when he'll be unable to do the song parodies any more."

I just don't really see the appeal other than the whole theme and video. He doesn't standout looks wise and in-ring. He might not be the best in the ring (which is surprising considering his gold medals in amateur wrestling), but he makes up for it in pure, unadulterated charisma. I love watching his custom entrances for his opponents - from his ICW days to his current IMPACT days. I think he's a solid upper midcard guy that, if he were in a company like WWE, he'd be in the LA Knight position - super over with the crowd with people saying that he should hold a championship. Hoping that he keeps going with IMPACT through the TNA revival in a few weeks and goes above and beyond where he is now - the lower midcard, occasionally going after the Digital Media championship. His tag team with Yuya Uemura was good, but it's clear which partner benefitted from their team now that Uemura is back in Japan, did well in the Tag League with Taichi and inserted into the faction with the world champion, already fighting Yota Tsuji at Wrestle Kingdom. What's Joe Hendry doing at this point in comparison to his former partner? Literally nothing. I hope he's on TV more often and gets to keep doing his gimmick with his parodies. There's a lot of untapped potential with him. EDIT: Updating this as of the end of June - Joe Hendry has become one of the most over wrestlers on the planet and I love it. Though he's spent most of the first half of the year in his nothing feud with First Class, he officially brought back the parodies with this feud, parodying AJ Styles' TNA theme and Higher by Creed. He became as big as he is from his own doing - promoting his theme song online to celebrate his birthday, and it lead to the song charting in the UK. But I think it really speaks to his character that he was still as over as he was in his NXT appearance. He wasn't even brought up in the Cody promo the week before and everyone still started chanting his name. And when he did show up, the pop was immense and really showed his popularity. Hopefully we will see Hendry win the TNA title at Slammiversary or at some point in the year. I will always believe in Joe Hendry. EDIT 2: It has only been 3 months since the last time I updated this but my lord. Although he didn't win the TNA title at Slammiversary or the NXT title at No Mercy, he sure as hell was the most over person in both of those matches. He should definitely win a championship before the end of the year. When you're the most over guy in a company you don't even officially work for, it really says something about how charismatic you are, and by god, Hendry is the most charismatic guy in the industry today."

Joe absolutely deserves the borderline mainstream positive coverage he is getting due to his awesome character and just amazing skills when it comes to making music. In the ring, Hendry is fairly average but the aura he has 100% makes up for everything he's got. Hope to see this guy in WWE one day, he'd be one of the most popular wrestlers in the company pronto, and imagine everyone singing his song at WrestleMania."

In the ring, I could say he is average, not too bad, there're some of the match became so memorable and there's sometimes matches that aren't going smooth, which that's fine to me, because botches often happens to wrestlers all the time, despite that, Hendry brought his best to his opponents and made a match become so watchable and entertaining. I hope his works would bring him to the big stage, that everybody from around the world can see his performances with pure laughter, highly entertainment and acknowledge his wrestling abilities. And I'm so proud to be a fan of him, it's made me smile every time to see him wrestles on YouTube, and I hope you're just like me when watch him."
"I believe. That's all you need to know. If you believe in Joe Hendry, you'll like him. Decent wrestler, good on the mic, creative, funny and overall a good guy. TNA would be stupid not to do something of substance with him. Although he's not an incredible in ring wrestler he makes up for it with his charisma."

He quite literally never fails to be one of the most entertaining parts of any show he's on."

Most of you have already heard or saw his ICW entrances videos, and I'm glad he could bring them back in his second Impact run, which is as of now much better than the first one. The previous comment is right, as entertaining as he is, his gimmick can't reach the main event. However, I think he could be a very strong addition to any of the two big US companies, both WWE and AEW desperately need some star power in the midcard. I really hope Hendry gets his chance to make it on a bigger stage in the near future."

And the answer is no, there's not a single match above 6, 63, and to be sure I've actually watched them and I can confirm. So i gotta ask again: what's all this hype with Joe Hendry?"

[10.0] "The way of rating a wrestler should be the reaction he is able to get for himself. After just a few vignettes, people sing his entrance song louder, than f.e. "I"m the fire" for Eddie when he was build as face of the company. I also didn't knew about him before he started to appear in Impact, but already I believe in Joe Hendry!"
[7.0] "Hendry's a REALLY mixed bag, to say the least. On the one hand, he's got a natural talent for comedy and knows how to get himself over with either traditional or more snarky audiences, and he also has the legitimate combat background to back up his reputation as a top guy. He's a good worker, and he focuses less on ring output and more on psychology and making what he does count in the long run. That being said, he's also not got the best moveset around: me personally, he seems a bit generic with what he does, and nothing stands out particularly well, even after 5+ years in the business he still seems kinda green. His gimmick is fun, but quite jarring. You can't be the mega underdog babyface and also be the big comedy goof that messes around with music videos. If you can't take the guy seriously, you aren't going to root for him because that investment just isn't there. That being said, he does have a cap for potential, and I definitely think he's one to watch if he keeps improving inside and outside the ring."
[8.0] "Joe Hendry is great, and fun and does comedy without insulting the crowd's intelligence. His video packages are always good, he is great at being a fiery babyface and he is solid in the ring and on the mic. He is also relatively young too."
[10.0] "Joe Hendry may be the best wrestler to come out of Scotland, perhaps only contested by Drew McIntyre. His work as both The Local Hero and The Prestigious One have shown his abilities to get the crowd to react to him in any way he wants them to, showing great character work and mic skills in the process. I think people talk about his ring work too much, listening to interviews with him, he has said how he would rather do a move like an eye-poke to get heat rather than a move like an enziguiri to get a pop, so I think that it is more that he would rather not wrestle a high work-rate match rather than not being able to. In a world full of Will Ospreay? s who would try to get over by doing flippy spots until the world stops spinning, seeing someone like Hendry is so refreshing, a wrestler who can use his character alone to be loved or hated by fans. Hopefully his lesser reliance on high spots means that he will be a healthy and major part of the British wrestling scene for years to come."

Very good at getting his local crowds behind him but I find him stale on the mic and his promos are hard to take seriously because of his joke entrances and singing and really his monologues just seem fake. He? s put on some great matches over the years, but he is extremely overrated by his die hard fans. He will flounder in any Major Promotion but does well on the UK indies."

Everyone says he's really charismatic and I personally just don't see it. His promo's always come across as over-rehearsed and robotic to me. He's still early in his career and has potential, but don't think he's ready to be a champion yet."

[4.0] "Joe Hendry is fine in the ring. He performs his moves adequately and on first viewing his custom entrance videos are very entertaining. I have mainly seen him in WCPW and I feel like the booking is kind of going against his character, for example his first story line in WCPW was with Joeseph Connors he played an arrogant babyface who was almost using another babyface as a tag team partner and sidekick even down to adding his partner to his entrance video with comic sans. So after weeks of being kind of a dick to his tag team partner they end up in a world title match together and when Connors hit him with a chair and pinned him to win the title half the live crowd popped for the undervalued player getting one over on him but the announcers told us how we all love Joe Hendry and should be outraged. Hendry just doesn't cut it as a long-term babyface and his arrogant style really doesn't fit the position he is in. Hendry really doesn't do a lot wrong in the ring and I have never seen him hurt another man in the ring but he also doesn't stand out and you have to feel he needs something more than an entrance video every few months to stay hot with a long-term audience."
[6.0] "Highly creative and entertaining, a real fan favourite in ICW and WCPW - but he does need to work more on his in-ring work to really breakout. He was a fast learner but he can't stop there. Doesn't strike me yet as being ready to lead a major UK company as a singles champion."
