[7.0] "Really good and fun finale for the tournament that paves the MJF and Adam Cole storyline. This had laughing, nervous and good wrestling moments. The whole experience was awesome - {***1/4}"
[8.0] "Not a whole lot to go wild for wrestling wise here but it was just a tonne of fun and the Cole/MJF team are insanely over. The dance off to start with was bizarre but couldn't help but smile throughout. Good stuff. ****"
[10.0] "I absolutely LOVED this match. From the pre-match segment with BTYBB to the Dance-Off to MJF's Dive through the ropes to Adam and Max finally hitting the double clothesline, this was THE match of the summer. I could literally rewatch the entire segment again and again and again and never get tired of it. Sports freaking entertainment."
[5.0] "Usual comedy and chaotic tag match we get in AEW but turned up to 100. The match started with a dance-off and it didn't get any better after that. Most of the match was to prepare for MJF & Adam Cole finally hitting the Double Clothesline, which they finally did and got the win. Which was built up to pretty well."
[8.0] "This was a lot of fun. MJF & Cole get the expected win here, but it was still fantastic. Plus, Guevara and Garcia looked pretty good here as well despite their loss. I don't think MJF & Cole are winning the titles from FTR, but I'm really looking forward to watching the match."
[8.0] "Sehr gutes Match.Unfassbar cooles Match.Der Danceoff zu Beginn war schonmal ein toller Anheizer und generell war die Stimmung Bombastisch.MJF mit dem Tope und die Crowd eskaliert komplett.Dass das Match mit der Doubleclothesline beendet wurde war ein toller Moment. ****"
"Every single part of this match was entertaining. All 4 of these guys (as well as Jericho) did a fantastic job of getting me invested in both overlaying stories. Being in the crowd made everything feel more energetic but even upon rewatch this match still felt magical. I don't know how many would consider this one of the greatest matches in AEW history, but it's definitely one of my favorites."
[5.0] "This match was mostly showboating and playing to the crowd which while fun, was not the kind of Wrestling I enjoy watching. The crowd obviously had a good time and this is definitely something id enjoy more in person, but watching at home I can say this match was no better than average, however a very fun match and the story telling is great."
[8.0] "From the pre-match promo to the dance-off to the dive to the double clothesline to the trouble in paradise tease, this was pro wrestling gold ****"
[8.0] "On paper, the MJF and Cole alliance looks like a very corny move, but gosh, they really do have chemistry. I heard a lot about the team on the Internet, and finally I didnt see it with my own eyes. It was a good interteam match, in which both teams looked very difficult. The dancing that preceded the match was hilarious. And Maxell is still a hell of a tope suiside. I also want to mention Garcia, who this year began to feel much more confident, speaking in front of a large audience. ****"
[9.0] "I was sports entertained. This is still one of the best stories on TV, I'm gutted that Max will turn on Adam next week probably but I can be happy for a bit."
[8.0] "What a fun match in a fun storyline between MJF and Adam Cole. The dance battle at the beginning is cool, it doesn't become a drag and it's just good fun. The match itself is nice, all the fun parts such as MJF doing a Tope or both doing the Double Clothesline add a little plus to the match."
[7.0] "The work that MJF has put in to get a tope suicida and a double clothesline over should be studied. It was masterful stuff and even found myself delighted when they finally hit the double clothesline. The actual match was decent but it wasn't really about that, it was about Adam Cole & MJF, who I hope they keep together for a longer period as they're box office."
[5.0] "For me, this Adam Cole and MJF stuff absolutely stinks. I don't think I've enjoyed one segment of it and their matches have all been pretty dull. It's served a purpose, I suppose, to make their second singles match feel hot, but MJF really shouldn't have the pencil."
[7.0] "Once again it was more about story than action, but it succeeded well for what it was. I was very amused by the dance off and yet again MJF worked his ass off to make this angle work. And it has, look at how over the double clothesline spot is! MJF amazing at turning any angle into something memorable."
[7.0] "Great fun and I absolutely love the Better Than You Bay Bay tag team angle. Class stuff, you need a bit of comedy it can't all just be serious / violent stuff all night. I love where they are going with MJF showing some vulnerability and partly wanting to be pals with Adam Cole, makes me wonder who turns on who in this team."
[7.0] "The best match on the card. MJF and Adam Cole have amazing chemistry and Garcia & Guevara were adequate foils. The suicide dive spot was legitimately hilarious."
[8.0] "This match ruled! What a performance! Better Than You, Bay Bay work so well together and DGSG ain't bad either! Or to put it more simple: THIS IS SPORTS ENTERTAINMENT!"
[7.0] "Most I've enjoyed an Adam Cole match in forever, and I mean that. This angle is gold; it's so obvious that the more they double down on trying not to make it obvious the funnier it gets, and that's the point. Only MJF could have this goofy fucking angle pull off as a world title feud, and only Cole could come across as such a complete idiot and still remain over. Points to Sammy & Danny for pulling off their end of this, their moves were fresh. ***1/2"
[7.0] "[7.0] Hated the dance-off, but I liked the story that was told here. MJF and Adam Cole's friendship segments are a bit too goofy/overproduced for my liking but it works so much better in the ring. From the remixed theme, the matching jackets, even MJF slapping hands with the fans, it's very fun and I'm sure the payoff (of MJF's inevitable turn) will bring massive heat. It's not telegraphed, but it's clear enough that something's going to happen to turn this storyline into a heat magnet. The match itself was fun, and I liked the build-up to the Double Clothesline. Aside from the embarassing dance-off, Dax's shoot(? ) at the end had me rolling my eyes. Worked or not, it made the product look amateur."
[6.0] "Who knew MJF's ceiling was doing HUSTLE midcard comedy matches. If he wrestled in the 90s he'd do comedy 6-man matches with Baba and co. Them phoning it in prior to a match that was (going to be) infinitely more important is pretty commendable. It's funny to me someone as serious as a mat-based wrestler as Daniel Garcia has gotten over by doing a dance. The match worked wonders for the live crowd, Max did a tope, the tandem hit the double clothesline, and we all went home happy."
[9.0] "This match deserves all of the flowers for three reasons: 1. it made Maxwell Jacob Friedman, the most despicable heel this side of fucking 1980s Bobby Heenan, into a BABYFACE for the crowd through his ability to work with the audience on the most basic of spots, like a Double Clothesline or Suicide Dive 2. it made Daniel Garcia look to actually be charismatic, which has been...a definitive issue in his past 3. It got extra shine on Adam Cole and Sammy Guevara for...y'know, being good workers, which is helping both their cases on rehabilitation after some not-so-good recent runs."
[8.0] "We are in fking 2023 and there was 9 000 people on their feet for a DOUBLE CLOTHESLINE for this reason alone the match deserves a high rating ----- First it started with a dance off that was very fun and ngl it was nice to see people have fun before watching 10 guys try to kill each other in a cage, I love some variety in my wrestling. If you are offended by wrestlers dancing in a ring I'm sorry but you are the problem and you take this way too seriously. Can you remind me what's the point of wrestling ? It's to entertain the crowd, and my god this Boston crowd was very entertained ------- Then the match itself was very good MJF is absolutely out of his world and Adam Cole played his role perfectly, watching MJF do a dive was kinda surreal and having people pop like crazy for the simplest moves is just amazing in this day and age"
[7.0] "I wasn't as into the dance spot as other people, but they had the people in the building at the palm of their hands at least. MJF also got a huge pop for building up a dive through the ropes as well. Then the finish came, and MJF/Cole had 9000 people popping over a Double Clothesline finish god bless. I need this MJF/Cole pairing to last longer, this is a fun team.***1/2"
[8.0] "Well, it was more sports entertainment than wrestling on this match, but I loved it either way. The dance off, I wasn't that into, but it didn't offend me much. Everything after the bell was a lot of fun though. MJF getting the loudest cheers for a body slam, double clothesline, and suicide dive was amazing. Most high flyers don't even that loud a reaction for all the dives they do every other second."
[7.0] "Totally agree that MJF is a comedy dude in his heart. And it's been very entertaining to watch. Dance off was great, and the match had some really fun anticipation of the big "double clothesline finish" that had the crowd completely engaged."
[3.0] "I could deal with the dance off. Unfortunately the match built after was just weak. It was fun they finally hit the double clothesline but everything outside of the dancing felt predictable and unimaginative. Not God awful but below average. *1/2"
[9.0] "This was great. This MJF/Cole partnership has been very entertaining and a welcome surprise. Talk about making the crowd care about relatively basic spots."
[10.0] "Making a tope suicida such an acclaimed movement, only that is achieved by a real wrestler and champion like MJF; I didn't feel many botches, pure entertainment, excellent technique, good coordination and dynamism, they presented a new song, this match is perfect in many ways and a good end to a tournament."
[9.0] "Just hilarious sports entertainment here. Was thoroughly entertained throughout, and thought that this was one of the funniest matches I have ever seen."
[7.0] "This was "sports entertainment" at its finest, starting with a ridiculously absurd dance off into a formulaic tag team match that ended in the double clothesline that MJF and Adam Cole have been hyping up for weeks. Just good fun all around. ***1/2"
[8.0] "Great end of tournament, it was totally predictable the victory of Adam Cole and MJF but I think they are leaving us a great story, which will probably end soon."
[8.0] "Absolutely hilarious! I laughed so hard I almost passed out! The range of MJF, all while keeping the core elements of his character intact, is insane."
[6.0] "The crowd and online community being so sucked into this weird stupid idea that MJF is a face now and that he's not just getting close to the guy after his title just to betray him at the very last second, FOR THE FORTH TIME (Cody, Wardlow, Jericho, Punk, maybe some more), is just so so annoying that I could care less about this storyline now. I kind of hate how important fan participation is to wrestling in these instances because you can see the story from a mile away and everyone is pretending to go along with it because the like to act like the smartest people in the building. MFJ does the same thing over and over and over again and people eat it up and its just embarrassing to me. He's flat, repetitive and only mildly entertaining and Im just so over his title reign already. I hate world champions who dont defend their belts. Orange Cassidy is more world champion material right now than MJF."
[8.0] "Excellent sports entertainment match. The odd couple of Cole and MJF finally grew on me this week and I laughed wholeheartedly at the dance off. MJF is so damn entertaining and knows exactly what he needs to do in each situation. Cole playing the straight man is perfect as well. As for Garcia and Guevara, they did well and I loved their interaction with Jericho after the match. There is a lot going on with the long-term storytelling and it's great to see."
[6.0] "This match was pure comedy and it obviously wasn't supposed to be a good old fashioned wrestling match. MJF plays the fake face pretty well and they hinted at 2 different ways the match next saturday could end with mjf turning on him or roderick "trying" to help and costing them the match with Cole getting pinned."
[6.0] "One of the best houseshow matches I've seen in a while. The definition of a perfect three star match. None of the work was remarkable, however, Cole and specifically MJF had the crowd in the palm of their hands."
[7.0] "Besonders in der Mitte und am Ende war es sehr spannend gemacht und es gab einige Momente wo es hin und her ging und man nicht mehr wusste wer wirklich gewinnen wird. ***1/2"
[3.0] "Real sports feel. WWE dance off. This felt like an MJF WWE audition. I had second hand embarrassment watching this. And dude Adam Cole looks anemic next to MJF."
[6.0] "Really not my kind of thing. Cole and MJF did comedy. The video make me smile, the danceoff made me smile, the dive made me smile, but it was all just silly. Anything this silly I can't really take seriously enough to rate higher than a 6 even if I get a laugh out of it. I also think about this with the context in mind. This was their match before challenging for the world tag team championship against FTR who never do anything close to comedy. To make matters worse, in the end they tried to make it all serious again with the tension spot and FTR stare down. The whole thing made me smile which is all I really want but it just really rubbed me the wrong way. Maybe if MJF wasn't the world champion I would like this more"
[10.0] "I loved that match, like last week Adam Cole and MJF had the crowd in the palm of their hands. When the crowd pop like crazy when you dance, hit a tope suicida or HIT a double clothline you know you are doing a great job."
[8.0] "I thought this was a very entertaining match and I absolutely love the team of MJF and Adam cole I really think they work well together and I am looking forward to where the story line goes the only thing I didn't like was the dance off other than that this match was great. ****"
[7.0] "I have had mixed feelings about the MJF/Cole over the last few weeks, have never 'got' Adam Cole, and often dislike the sillier side of wrestling... But even I have to concede that this was entertaining and worked very well. There was a lot of energy and a really positive atmosphere. The suicide dive spot was definitely the highlight for me. I feel the need to mention Sammy's awful Spanish Fly spot where he hit the move on both of his opponents at the same time, but that aside I thought this was infectiously fun and the most interesting Adam Cole has been in an extremely long time."
[7.0] "Better Than You BAY BAY! (Adam Cole & MJF) gewannen somit das Blind Eliminator Tag Team Tournament Final und treffen bei Collision auf FTR. Das hier war ein gutes Finale (***1/4)."
[8.0] "Really good match right here whose highlight was also its storytelling and everything it had to tell between MJF & Cole, who continue to be the funniest pairing in a long time in AEW and it's completely them carrying Dynamite with the Elite and the BCC too, it was great in the continuity of all their segments together with a great crowd investment to boot. The Double Clothesline story was so much fun, as was the dance battle and all the details that go with it. Pure fun."
[5.0] "A solid in-ring match demonstrating the surprisingly strong chemistry between MJF and Adam Cole heavily marred by the idiotic, 2010s WWE style dance off that immediately preceded it. That kind of spot has no place around a main event level angle and only serves to heavily detract and distract from the good things involved."
[7.0] "MJF & Cole put match of the show two weeks in a row. It's unbeliavable that 27yo man teaching the whole company what entertainment is. He was the one who drag crowd in match once again. The match itself was really solid too aside it's gold entertainment. Garcia & Guevara (especially Guevara) played an amazing heel work in this match, I loved how they kept screwing up Cole & MJF's spots. They walking away from Jericho was awaited but was good see."
[8.0] "Extremely entertaining and fun match: the inital dance off almost made me cry from laughing but when it came to actually wrestling the two teams delivered very good perfomances and the action was very enjoyable with an amazing double spanish fly by Sammy. Mjf's suicide dive was an incredible moment and the double clothesline was perfect. Post-match was brillant, too with the first cracks in the relationship between Mjf and Cole and Ftr's arrival. Also Guevara and Garcia leaving Jericho alone was a cool moment. 8/10 - 4.25*/5*"
[8.0] "This was extremely entertaining: the dance off at the beginning was funny, the ring action was very good with Cole's kicks and MJF is the best at making everything he does great (the suicide dive is the perfect example of this). Now I'm really hyped for what's gonna happen between the Adam/Maxwell team especially after what went down in the post-match and obviously for their match against FTR. Even the Jericho Appreciation Society has a good story to develope after this, probably a face turn for Sammy and Daniel, we'll see. ***3/4"
[6.0] "I'm not sure the dance off stuff is the way to go for MJF's increasingly mid-card title reign, but I guess it was funny. If I have to write at least 500 characters then most of them should be spent on how bad Adam Cole is at dancing. People talk about what makes Adam Cole unbelievable as a top guy a lot, but he may have given haters a new number 1 reason. "Does a main eventer need to be able to dance" is a question that has been debated throughout wrestling history, but at the very least a main eventer would know when to show just the right amount of vulnerability, not too little and not too much. We will see in due time if Cole made the right choice."
[8.0] "A fun match that you simply wouldnt get on TV in wwe/NXT/ or perhaps even impact. Only here would it make sense for your world champ to force a dance battle between everyone and not look foolish or tarnish him being a champion especially with Cole holding the title and MJF foreshadowing an eventual title rematch down the line. It seemed much longer then ten minutes and could have been but I feel like it was exactly enough time to show Cole & MJF simply havent had enough time in matches or together as a team to be considered a real serious threat towards FTR who have been together for years but we shall see. Despite taking the pin in ten minutes the remaining two for JAS were protected in loss with there brief segment post match setting up the future for them."
[8.0] "Damn this was fun. The dance off, I'm a sucker for these and always will be, don't care. Of course MJF was the star, but Sammy and Garcia came out of this looking really good imo. Showed they could keep up and entertain the crowd with some goofy shtick too. When Garcia danced back the ref I popped. Of course, hitting the fabled double clothesline was what the match revolved around once it got going. MJF making a huge deal out of a tope - hilarious. Good moment after with Garcia and Sammy snubbing Jericho, and FTR was pissy for no good reason, which was amusing."
[9.0] "I've been critical of the Blind Eliminator Tag Team tournament but this match made the whole thing worth it. MJF and Adam Cole's partnership (and hilariously unlikely friendship) has been one of the most entertaining things about AEW in the last few weeks. This match was a very fun one, MJF and Adam Cole are great, Daniel Garcia is good, and Sammy Guevara didn't completely embarrass himself. I docked it one point for the dance off before the match (Tony Schiavone spoke for all of us) but that's the only problem I had with the match. Can't wait to see Cole and MJF take on FTR."
[8.0] "Adam Cole and MJF have remarkable chemistry. Between their backstage segments and the way they function as a tag team in the ring, they border on perfection in their partnership. Despite the fact that the end seems to be near, I actually really hope they continue to team. Unlikely, but alas. As for Daniel Garcia and Sammy Guevara, I am so happy that they are finally moving out of the shadow of Chris Jericho. They are both exceptionally talented and have the potential to become stars in their own right. As for this match, it had everything imaginable to bring entertainment value. The dance-off was one of the craziest yet most thoroughly entertaining sequences that I have seen in a long time. It made me laugh throughout and ultimately led into a really good match. The crowd was white hot for Cole and MJF, with the Double Clothesline generating genuinely incredible responses. The wrestling was solid all-around, really, especially MJF pulling an Adam Cole by pretending to go for a dive only to run the ropes and taunt. The Tope sequence was great, as well. I honestly have no idea how to rate this match, because it was unlike anything I can remember seeing, but consider me thoroughly entertained and hopeful to remember this for a long time. I am honestly shocked to be writing it, but I am going 4 stars, 8 out of 10."
[9.0] "objectively not the greatest match but mjf and cole are just so fun its hard not to love everything they do. sammy and garcia were great heels here to play off the new babyface team. the dance off pre match was hysterical, even if cole has no rhythm at all. they finally hit the double clothesline after a tope suicida lol. the facial reactions were a little cheesy but honestly thats what this needs. they need to be completely over the top. like the post match actually laying some seeds of doubt, cant be happy forever. anyways even without the crowd and story, its a really good match, but that elevated it a lot."
[10.0] "Okay, hear me out. There is nothing like this happening in wrestling right now, and it's hard to think of a time where the enemies tag team storyline has ever worked the magic that this one has. There is also nothing in wrestling that has gotten over a dive, a body slam, and a double clothesline like this since, as Chris Jericho said, 1992. Devastating knowing these two will be ripped apart, and it puts the bookers in a really interesting spot. What do you do with this "lightning in a bottle? " I think there is an ever so slight chance that Jay and Juice didn't win because... Cole and MJF will..."
[8.0] "It was fun, entertaining and still good some good spots. The dynamic between MJF and Cole is fantastic, Sammy always delivers something, and Daniel is one of the most charismatic guy in the business today."
[10.0] "Who would've thought MJF and Adam Cole would not only be a tag team, but a very charismatic one at that? This match blew it out of the park. It was FUN. Matching gear, matching jackets, mashup theme, Better Than You, Bay Bay have truly arrived. Then there's the dance off. My GOD I loved this part. It's the kind of silly stuff that you only see often on the indies, yet rarely on television. In other words, seeing that dance off unfold was such a treat. The entire match itself was still great. MJF hitting a tope suicida is something I never thought I would see. The double clothesline is the big cherry on top of this match, since they have hyped it up the entire tournament. Overall, this match was fun, and Cole and MJF are a true tag team. It's just unfortunate that one day, that friendship will once again end, either because shifts his focus back to MJF's world title, or Max let's his insecurities get the better of him once again."
[8.0] "This Adam Cole/MJF storyline is the most entertaining thing AEW has done in a long time in my opinion, and currently the primary reason I've been tuning in. Their vignettes, the matches, it's all been so fun, and this match was no exception. It was obvious from the start Cole and MJF would win this tournament, but that doesn't make this any less fun. The dance off set the mood for what would end up being a wildly enjoyable comedy match that the crowd absolutely ate up. From the double clothesline teases, to MJF's dive, to them FINALLY hitting the clothesline to win the match, it was just an absolute joy. Daniel Garcia and Sammy Guevara (as much as I hate giving him credit), deserve their flowers for this too. This probably wouldn't have worked as well as it did with any other team. Props to all involved for having such a fun match. [***3/4]"
