222.05.2025Thenxt observer10.0***** (10/10) The one that gets all the love and praise was their war inside Hell in a Cell at Mania 28, but HHH/Taker II might be in my top handful of favorite WrestleMania matches. The storytelling between these two was near next-level perfection as we arrived to a chapter where the Deadman wasn't as indestructible as he had been his whole career. Triple-H knew what had to be done to end the streak. He gave him a beat down for the ages. But that would not suffice, as Taker kept kicking out. So what would the Game do next? Drop a nasty tombstone on the Phenom, yelling out to everyone in the Georgia Dome that "It's Over! " Boom. And it was over. 1 - 2 - Pop! "What! What did we just see! " cried J.R. HHH couldn't believe it either, as he crawled backwards in disbelief that the Deadman would not stay down. The Streak would not die.

1101.05.2025michaels33310.0I know I'm in the minority but I prefer this match over their mania 28 match. They told a much better in ring story I'm this match. I loved how HHH used everything he could I'm his power to bring taker down, but the dead man kept showing resilience. I also like fact that at the end, HHH was the one being able to walk on his own
1225.04.2025houseofcopeland8.0Hands down Mania 27's best match (although on this dogshit card, that ain't saying much) but I personally prefer their HIAC match at Mania 28 a bit more.
1323.04.2025mori9.0The only great match on an otherwise terrible Wrestlemania card. Although it suffers from it being a bit long and too slow for my liking, it told a really good story that would carry onto next year's Mania. It had an amazing finish with HHH tapping from a Hell's Gate and the post-match angle with Taker being carted off really did a good job to sell the brutality of the match.

1818.04.2025Ajay0032910.0This is a solid match, soldi enough to be the match of the year in any year. The entrance were great(even tho it's sad triple h's for whom the Bell toll had to be redubbed due license issue). The match felt physical which was lacking in the entire show. Such brutality, intensity and excitement made this a great match, the near falls were great, triple h tombstoning undertaker was great, the hell's gate ending was great. And it might be the last match of prime taker as he literally fell down after the match and had to be escorted via a medical vehicle, which was scary but it shows how deadly this battle was. Great match
1918.04.2025KKeanel8.0Match of the night, however pace at certain stages of the match don't help in general overview. HHH's tombstone became legendary and was 2nd most beliveable moment in terms of streak-ending right after next Mania's Pedigree + Sweet Chin Music combination.

2213.04.2025Notorious278.0Match of the night! These two went to war on that night and put on a Wrestlemania classic. From the very beginning they start brawling and we got multiple brutal spots between the two, the first half the match was fantastic. The only complain I have is that second half of the match drags a little bit. I think the match could've been a little shorter and still be as good. 4.5*

2511.04.2025RPMX1238.0best match on the card? yes. epic? certainly, but this match is wayyyyy too long for what it is. for every awesome spot, there's 2 minutes of boring ass selling. i get these guys are old and they wanted it to feel like a war, but half an hour is kinda taking the piss. they'd far surpass it in the HIAC match the next year. that HHH tombstone spot is one of the greatest near falls of all time though, 10 year old me absolutely thought that was the end of the streak ****

2805.04.2025KingsCrossing10.0I fully admit that I may be blinded by nostalgia here but I absolutely love this match. I vividly remember watching it live and being taken on a rollercoaster ride, going from thinking it was an obvious Undertaker victory to being on the edge of my seat for the nearfalls. I can understand why the match may not resonate as much for anybody who is watching it for the first time now, as the context is part of what makes it as special as it is. It was the right match at the right time. I love the stark contrast between Shawn Michaels needing to use speed and resourcefulness to try and find a way to break the streak, compared with Triple H being somebody who can match The Undertaker's physicality and bring the fight directly to him. The Undertaker had never looked so vulnerable at WrestleMania until this point, and it made for a captivating experience, particularly when juxtaposed against Taker's series with Shawn Michaels. Some people complain about the finisher kick outs but if there were ever a time to do them where it makes perfect sense then an Undertaker WrestleMania streak match is exactly it - it's simply not the same as when people attempt the same thing in the opening match at a rec centre. Time and place is everything. I love the post-match as well, with Undertaker really looking like he's been through hell and still couldn't be stopped. I can only liken it to a pro wrestling equivalent of when Anderson Silva, in the midst of his record setting UFC title reign, managed to pull out victory from the jaws of defeat after being on the receiving end of a 23 minute beatdown from Chael Sonnen, who had taken Silva to his limit and placed him in more jeopardy than we had ever seen before. It made Silva come across as absolutely unbeatable, because even in his weakest moment, after 23 minutes of hell, it still wasn't enough - he still somehow, someway, managed to find a way to win - and watching this match made for a similar experience with The Undertaker. I'm not sure it'd hold up if you didn't experience it live, but at the time this match made the streak feel absolutely mythic. I also would like to heavily suggest that you watch this with the original audio rather than the WWE Network version, because the entrance music featuring Metallica and Johnny Cash greatly enhance the atmosphere, particularly 'Ain't No Grave' playing during the post-match prior to The Undertaker being taken out on a stretcher. One of the most memorable experiences I've ever had with wrestling.

3525.03.2025Gravelord8.0While I really enjoyed the story both guys were telling, and they did a commendable job at communicating it through their facial expressions, I thought that it could have been a lot more interesting in execution if they changed some things and paced it better. For one, I really enjoyed the first ten-or-so minutes which saw the both of them immediately duking it out and using anything and everything to try and beat the other down; them going through the so-called 'Cole mine' and HHH's spinebuster to Taker through the Spanish announcer's desk were great moments that really highlighted how much both guys wanted to win at the expense of the other. Similarly, I though Triple H's conflicted facial expressions while he was delivering a beat down with a steel chair were great for that same reason and it played nicely into the finish with Taker catching the Game off guard after the latter spent just a little too much time jaw jacking with sledgehammer in-hand. That being said, it was ultimately too long for its own good, especially toward the end when both guys were simply laying on the mat and not doing much of anything. Yes, I understand that they were trying to sell the punishment they had inflicted on one another, but that doesn't require you to sell so much and so sluggishly. Just look at Taker's matches with HBK from the prior two Manias; there was a lot of damage dished out by both guys and yet they didn't spend nearly as long selling and both bouts were all the better and more exciting for it. Similarly, the excessive use of finishers, particularly by Triple H, came off as more uncreative than it did epic or anything else. It was especially disappointing given how chaotic and frenetic the match began as. Things would have been much more enjoyable if they cut 7-8 minutes from this nearly 30 minute bloated battle and instead spent more time utilizing the no DQ stipulation by employing more creative and varied weapon spots. It would have accomplished the story they were telling all the same while keeping things quicker and more varied to make for a better viewing experience, especially on rewatch. As I previously mentioned, the finish was great and Triple H losing but still being the only man able to walk out on his own two feet was as great a sequel hook as they could have done to set up their truly fantastic HIAC match at WM28. Overall, a great match marred by unnecessarily slow pacing and an overreliance on finishers during the finish stretch. While it was a downgrade from Taker's matches with HBK from the previous years, its still well worth going out of your way to watch especially as a lead-in for their WM28 classic. ****

4711.03.2025CR15.0Big disappointment. At the beginning of the match, there's a spotlight on Cole's cabin, then between each small spotlight there are 2-3 minutes where nothing happens each time. It's slow and too long, the Undertaker getting out of 3 pedigrees and 1 tombstone is just too much and nonsense. Especially knowing that Triple H gives up after much less than that. Triple H's acting is boring and ridiculous. This is the worst match of Undertaker's streak since 2006.

4905.03.2025user3028.0One of my favorite Undertaker matches. This was also one of the last times Undertaker ever did the suicide dive to the outside. Loved watching these two go to war, and I thought the Hell's Gate finish was perfect.

8103.10.2024TrailsOfPersona3.0Without a doubt, one of the worst matches of The Streak. I'd watch the Giant Gonzalez match over this one any day of the week, and that's no joke or hyperbole. I probably would take the Bossman match over this one too. The one and only good thing I can say about this match is that these guys really are hitting each other hard to make it feel real. That's it. To say it moves at a snail's pace would be an insult to the humble snail. It's glacial. The entire match nearly from bell to bell, is one guy hitting a big move, the other kicking out, and then them both laying there for minutes at a time. There might be more time where they both are doing nothing than actual wrestling time. It's like they wanted the drama of how spent they were to compensate for everything else. The finisher spamming is worse than in a video game. There's just nothing about this match that remotely lives up to what should be expected of these two. I've watched this match a dozen times hoping I'll enjoy it more every time, and there's just no substance to anything about it. While this is not my least favorite of The Streak matches, it is bottom 3 no questions asked. Quite possibly even #2. Just an inexcusable match.

8408.09.2024maven lover4.0When I saw this rate, I was shocked. God, I've never seen so much sitting around & doing nothing in a wrestling match in all my life. Sluggish sequence, finisher, kick out. Sluggish sequence, finisher, kick out. Over and over again it goes, as I realize by the end, "I literally can't remember an interesting thing that's happened all match, here." The hardcore action is nothing we haven't seen a million times done better, & you would expect for so much more weapons action (or possibly even a single creative weapons spot) from a no-DQ endeavor. This was such an overly-long, slow & plodding match that is sooo much more boring than you would ever expect a HHH vs Taker WM match to ever be.
