230.12.2024KingsCrossing7.0This is kind of an odd stipulation. It's a 'Double Stakes' match, where the first fall will be for #1 Contendership for the Pure Title. After this fall, whoever wins the fall and whoever loses the fall both leave the match, and the remaining two men will battle out for a World Title shot. It's not the worst idea I've ever heard, but it is a little strange and doesn't quite make sense when one title is higher on the pecking order than the other. It'd work better if ROH fourways didn't have tag rules, since the way things stand you don't really have much incentive to tag in instead of just waiting for the first two guys to be removed from the match so you can fight for a World Title shot. Anyway, weird gimmick aside I thought this was pretty good. I particularly liked when Joe got sick of Cabana's inability to deal with Nigel's headstand and knocked Nigel's head off to teach both of them a lesson. Everybody did fairly well wrestling in a way that worked with the unusual stipulation (Nigel tried to save Cabana from Joe since they're tag team partners, but Shelley stopped him so he could fight for a world title shot with Joe out of the match instead). While the wrestling was always good, I think the match lost a bit of momentum after Joe left and it sort of felt like they had to restart from the beginning again. Regardless, this was an entertaining match that provided something a little different while effectively setting up two big title matches for Manhattan Mayhem.

530.10.2024KDM19168.0This match is a lot of fun with a good concept to set up two future title matches. The mix of styles with these four makes this match very compelling. One of my favourite moments from this is when Nigel is doing his corner headstand but Colt doesn't know what to do, so Joe just gets in the ring and boots Nigel in the face, perfect character work there from both Joe and Colt. Joe earning the Pure title shot is great considering his protege, Jay Lethal, is the champion. And Shelley earning the World title shot is perfect considering Austin Aries is the champion & Shelley was recently removed from Generation Next. A well worked match that sets up future stories very well.

1106.12.2021Mizzle Assault Ant7.0Much like the live crowd, I spent most of the first half of the match waiting for whatever Samoa Joe would do next. Everyone in this match is talented of course but Samoa Joe was head and shoulders above at this time, when he was in he was a force, when he was out the match kind of dragged. Final sequence between Shelly and Nigel wasn't too thrilling, and I have to say I am always irritated by Nigel's weird headstand spot. Big pop when Joe simply ran over and kicking him in his upside down face.

1611.04.2010sign squad7.0Sehr starkes Multi-Men Match.
