[7.0] "The first Aries/Nigel match, it's long before their notable world title matches but this one achieves something different in a fun way. The idea that Nigel has the potential to have held all 3 belts in ROH by this point and also hold 2 belts at once and he comes up against overachiever Nigel who's bent the rules to keep the belt puts this match in an interesting light. Nigel wrestles it pretty clean for the whole match but has a counter to almost all of Aries' signature offence with the idea that Nigel took this one much more seriously against a huge ROH name and prepared way harder than Aries did. It's pretty back and forth, Nigel pours all his big offence on and the match plays out as it should with the former world champ outlasting the champ that's fluked his way through most matches except the arm damage is able to keep Nigel from losing to the 450. Nigel taps out Aries pretty clean, wouldn't have minded Nigel cheating big time to win to further cement the idea that he's not quite a main eventer yet but who am I to say that seeing Aries lose clean isn't satisfying."
[7.0] "The build for Nigel to move to the main event picks up nicely with this match. Aries offers a legit opponent to further him, but Nigel is able to maintain the upper hand due to his expert knowledge of the pure rules"
[6.0] "Pure rules. I think their 2007 match is the best Ring Of Honor singles match in its history. This won't measure up to that but these two at this period compared to then, seem like generations. Nigel is set for a ROH Title picture in the near future so putting him against Aries, a former ROH World Champion, is smart to build him up. The match presents that too, with Nigel being the master of the pure rules style, using it to good effect, working the arm of Aries and forcing him to use his rope breaks before eventually forcing the tap. Nothing great but it was a worthwhile 18 minute match. Aries? selling was solid throughout. ***1/4"
[8.0] "Really enjoyed this, very back and forth match. Nigel puts a ton of work in Aries' shoulder and Austin sells it like a champ. The pure title stipulations add a little bit of spice to the match and are super relevant to the end."
