[9.0] "It might have been even better if it was for the tag titles, but in hindsight, that would have just given Verne an excuse to meddle with the finish and ruin one of the best tag team matches I've ever seen. Maybe it's a hot take, but this bout was far better than anything I've ever watched from The Rock 'n' Roll Express - Marty and Shawn were exactly what I always imagined Ricky and Robert should be. The structure was absolutely phenomenal, with the babyfaces dominating the heels while oozing charisma, making the crowd louder with every passing minute. Rose and Somers were incredible - their bumps were fantastic, and they were so easy to hate. Sherri was also outstanding at ringside, even getting a drink thrown at her. The blood added so much to the match, everyone's crimson mask looked perfect and most importantly, they showed Verne just how great a pop you can get for a finish when you don't try to overcomplicate everything."

Proves that The Midnight Rockers are more than able to beat the champs given no outside interference, but I have no idea what the post match was. During the match they say it's for the AWA Tag Titles, The Rockers win, and Rose & Somers walk out with the belts. Seems par for the course tonight to have a great match with a terrible finish. AWA is committing suicide with its booking."

The match plays to the strengths of the Rockers and is therefore much less even than many other clashes between these parties in the current calendar year, and thus also has a certain rubber character. If you draw a line under this, the Rockers deserved to win at the end of a juicy match."

The heels flopped all over the ring for the Rockers and made them look awesome. Michaels does most of the work on the Rockers side, which wouldn't really change for the years ahead!"

Doug Sommers was doing the heavy lifting by carrying his team for this match. Also, props to Sherri after having a drink thrown on her back by a fan and still carrying on with her job."

Very good cage match and the best match on the card, but not spectacular, solid and a very good finish from the set up for the pin to the aftermath. Some of the colour was a bit lazy how it happened. The star of the show was down to the psychotic screaming of Sherri Martel who bumped this up to a solid 7*."
