[6.0] "Was expecting this to be another awful Taker main event but it was actually pretty decent. I though the no contest was REALLY weird for a PPV main event though. I feel like if this happened in any company today, people would be losing their minds over it. Some very solid brawling though and you'd have no idea that Brock was a rookie with how well he worked here. It's crazy how quickly he took on wrestling."
[8.0] "Awesome brawl. Probably Brock's best match at this point, and easily one of Undertaker's top 5 matches. The B.S. finish just led to the even better Hell In A Cell match, so it all works out. I don't understand how a clean finish would have made this a better fight than it already was."
[7.0] "I really liked this match, which was surprising to me because of the babyface biker Taker, but they made me care for him in this angle. He looked serious, got in the ring without the bike and felt like an oldman underdog against Lesnar, which was a nice change. They worked the bout perfectly with Deadman surprising Brock early on and The Beast getting pissed off about it, whose facial expressions were incredible throughout the whole match by the way. The crowd was into it, Taker had a lot of sympathy and Lesnar was a great heel, but that goddamn finish ruined everything. Seriously, it was so lazy that although I don't grown that much at DQ finishes it genuinely made me mad on how lazy it was. Still, a great match, just the finish sucked."
[5.0] "I feel bad for fans who stayed after the Benoit/Angle match, considering the, uh, segment before this. As a match this is a fine brawl but it felt more like a smackdown main event than the top of the card on a pay per view, especially with that trash finish."
[4.0] "There was probably a half-decent 8 minute brawl somewhere in this overbooked, overlong mess. Story goes that Taker refused to put Brock over, which is certainly believable. After the "lesbian" bullshit before this match the event really ended on a bad note."
[8.0] "This is a really underrated main event. Lesnar's mix of power, agility, and technique is very impressive here, especially for somebody still so early in their career. He looks like an absolute beast against The Undertaker, and dominates the majority of the match. Tensions convincingly escalate and the match becomes increasingly hostile. By the end the match is turning in to a really strong brawl, and the crowd is so in to it that they are going wild for nearfalls off of basic moves like The Undertaker's leg drop. Unfortunately, the finish is a real dud, and doesn't do the rest of the match justice. Still, I thought this was a pretty awesome match, and anybody who enjoys the Taker-Lesnar HIAC from No Mercy as much as I do should definitely make sure to check this one out as well. It isn't perfect, but it's a great heavyweight brawl with some dynamic action that you don't often see from men this size."
[7.0] "I was really enjoying this until the weak DQ ending. Really solid brawl between them that wound up turning into a street fight. That chair shot bent around Lesnar's skull looked sick! Matt Hardy's interference was completely pointless, and the ref bumps are really overkill in this match. It felt like WWE didn't want a finish as it built up to a Hell in a Cell match next PPV, but it definitely weakens the match as a whole. The visual of Lesnar going through the stage was pretty awesome."
[4.0] "I was a bit disappointed with this match as I expected more from both wrestlers. The match went well, but the ending completely ruined everything that had been done during the match. Matt Hardy's interference was completely unnecessary and insignificant, because it didn't contribute anything to the match and the ending also didn't help and made me feel quite frustrated. The only good part was when Lesnar went through the PPV sign."
[3.0] "I think this match was tragic. Dont understand this rating. No wrestling here just punches and restholds. Match was soo boring in begining, later we got some bullshit dramawith referee. Ending was stupid and disappointing."
[7.0] "Ziemlich fette und harte Auseinandersetzung zwischen zwei Biestern. Keiner zieht zurück und jeder geht nach vorne. Dass dabei dann kein Hochglanz-Feuerwerk zustande kommt, ist der Tatsache geschuldet, dass man die Partie als Eröffnung einer kleinen Matchserie inszeniert. Aber dass da am Ende auch kein klares Resultat in den Büchern steht, hinterlässt einen kleinen Beigeschmack, zumindest wenn man diese Partie im Main-Event stattfinden lässt. Die Intensität hält die Begegnung aber absolut im grünen Bereich."
[7.0] "Good match. The finish let it down somewhat and the match was a bit dull in some parts. The rest of the match was a banger though. Brock got pushed to the limit and it allowed him to show off his selling/bumping skills. ***1/2"
[7.0] "Match starts off with a test of strength spot that would see Lesnar lose and he would show frustration. This would cause Brock to focus on more mat-based wrestling in this matchup. Both men would mainly focus their offense on attacking each other in the midsection.DQ is disappointing considering the quality of bout they were having but it made sense story-wise and was needed to set up the Hell in a Cell match.***1/2"
[8.0] "Fans of Lesnar/Undertaker's legendary Hell in a Cell match shouldn't sleep on this match, as it's great in its own right. In his first title defense, Lesnar is look a lot more comfortable in-ring than he was just a few months prior. I liked him trying to play the power game during the opening exchanges, only to become frustrated when Undertaker showed him that he could match him in that department. This forces Lesnar to try and rely on his wrestling skills to mixed results. This was a fun hoss fight with plenty of intensity and hatred to boot. Undertaker's match quality was spotty around this time, but this was one of his better matches of 2002 and it's clear that he and Brock work well together. The non-finish might have pissed off the live crowd, but it was necessary for building up to the HIAC rematch and they made up for the fans in the building by having a cool spot in the post-match which saw Undertaker throw Lesnar through the stage."
[7.0] "A good battle of the hosses between Brock and UT here to close out the show. The crowd was hot for all of it which helped raise the quality of the bout. The non-finish worked very well in setting up their HIAC rematch, even though that might not be the initial plan in the first place. [***1/2]"
[7.0] "A very solid match, when two big guys in the ring knock all the shit out of each other. Here, in addition, Taker had a motive in the form of protecting his pregnant wife and taking revenge on the bastard for threats to his family. In principle, you can understand why they decided to make such an ending, because in this type you want complete retribution and emotions often prevail upwards. The epic itself was in Brock Lesnar's departure through the PPV sign."
[7.0] "Verglichen mit anderen Taker/Lesnar Matches war das noch recht mild, dennoch sehr brutal geführt. Die Chemie stimmt einfach zwischen ihnen und das konnte man hier wieder sehen.
