This is the first time I've ever seen Shotaro Ashino and from what I saw, he's a somewhat stocky guy who can do power moves and can do a little bit of technical wrestling. From what I've heard, he was the ace of Wrestle-1 and I'm glad he was able to have a career in All Japan after Wrestle-1 shut down. They had some great back and forth here, with Ashino delivering some awesome looking German suplexes and some great looking European uppercuts. ****1/4 |

An incredibly tense environment created by Nakajima's disrespect towards wrestle-1 and ace Shotaro Ashino coming in to defend his company's honor. The match itself was really good and felt like it was all building to Ashino defeating Nakajima, only for Nakajima to crush Ashino with a vertical spike and shut the crowd up. A good post-match too with all Wrestle-1 wrestlers surrounding Nakajima, and the next challenger getting announced. |

And it was super fun to laugh with him. On the other side, you had Ashino. The dignity the promotion had left. Unfortunately for him NOAH's Nakajima was on a roll being confidently in control and most of the match served as pure humiliation for him and WRESTLE-1. There were desperation moments shining hope in W-1 eyes, but those were few and far between, but needless to say those raised to roof in Korakuen Hall. But this match was nearly all about Nakajima being a lovable asshole. |
