[9.0] "The in ring action is purely functional, but it's a match between an unathletic manager and a retired wrestler who's serving as the Smoky Mountain Wrestling commissioner. They were never going to get into the ring and have a mat grappling classic, this was all about Bob Armstrong getting even with Jim Cornette. And, by god, it made money, the K-Town Showdown, of which this was the main event, was the biggest house SMW ever drew at this time, and it would only be topped by shows that featured major outside attractions. Cornette does all the little tricks to try and get out of the match, feigns injury and etcetera, but Big Boss Man doesn't let him weasel out of it. Cornette gets his butt kicked, only gets in any offense when his cortege creates an opening for him. Still, it doesn't take long for Bob Armstrong to clean things up, he shrugs off a racket shot from Cornette and then piledrives him twice and pins him with a foot on his chest. Hey, I thought the piledriver was banned! Oh well, who cares, that no-good Jim Cornette got what was coming to him! They cart him off on a stretcher and send him to the same hospital that Bob Armstrong was sent to after the beating he previously suffered at the hands of Cornette and his goons. All this needed to be was Bob Armstrong whipping a guy, and he did, and it looked decent. Cornette took good bumps, his offense looked like shit but that's okay because he's not supposed to be threatening in the ring. The dynamic between the parties involved was what got the people into the building, and all they needed to see in order to go home happy was Cornette getting beat up. That's wrestling!"
