After Willow and Kris put on a clinic in how to do a street fight at All Out a few months ago, I had high hopes for this because Rosa and May are great workers, but there never seemed to be much danger or jeopardy to this. It felt more like a WWE street fight, with the only super fun spots being the thumbtack and table bumps, both taken by Rosa. Enjoyed some moments of character work from May, taking the walking stick was fun, but I wish she'd taken something more extreme to give the match the danger and jeopardy it desperately needed."
[6.0] "I never felt there was really a level of aggression between these two to make a street fight work, but there were a lot of fun spots that made it a good watch despite it not really going any further."
[7.0] "A great street fight It was the best match event so far The action and swing of the two wrestlers were great, the sequences were great and they really showcased a street fight And finally, with a great and predictable ending, Mariah was able to defend her title (it was clear that Fandro was going to hit her on the table, but it was still interesting)"
[6.0] "Yeah I'll admit, this was missing something, and that was primarily the heat that should be in a match like this. A lot of fun and creative spots do elevate this match to something above average, and both workers are solid enough as is, but again there is just that sense of something not connecting properly. Not even that it was disappointing, there just isn't much to really go with here."

I think this match did a great job however at doing basically all they could in this type of match, with a luke-warm feud in general. A great match, went about at long as it should've, and Mariah winning with the storm zero through the table was fun."
[6.0] "Not a bad match really but the bar for plunder matches in this promotion is so high that I couldn't help but feel disappointed. Doesn't help that Rosa just felt like another uninspired challenger for Mariah, as we must spin our wheels for months on end until the Mariah/Toni rematch."
[8.0] "This was good but didn't reach the heights you'd hope for. Underwhelming build due to lack of time, they threw Rosa's father into it just to get some heat but it just fell flat. Tony Khan's incompetent booking continues to hurt the division when they cant even get proper time to build towards their ppv matches."
[8.0] "I think they were capable of more but still I think this was a fairly excellent PPV match, hard fought with a sense of real animosity from Thunder Rosa's side. The outcome was not too mysterious but still, I enjoyed this one quite a bit."
[4.0] "This match is yet another black mark on the championship reign of Mariah May, a symptom of why AEW's booking in the women's division continues to be corrosive and disappointing beyond belief. No, Thunder Rosa may not be at the physical level she was when she first joined AEW, either due to worsening health or a lack of investment. But Rosa may as well have been the queen of all deathmatches compared to Mariah May in this match. It's rare to see such a contrast between two wrestlers given such a major PPV opportunity to showcase their talents. Rosa showed up to fight. Mariah May showed up to not get fined. Her work was poor, she didn't take bumps worth shit, and if Rosa wasn't willing to take all of the awesome street fight bumps into tacks and thru tables then it's hard to believe anyone would believe May was in this match at all. All four points I'm giving here go to Rosa, none for May."
[4.0] "This was very poor. Others have already said it but this was a spot fest and not a very well-thought out one. Meandering from one spot to the next with no real heat or technique. The most entertaining part was Mariah May stealing Thunder Rosa's father's walking stick."

"Another gimmicky hardcore match propfest where objects are just repetitively smashed into the other person. Spots reserved for womens matches in AEW are precious because they offer so few of them. This was a waste of one of them. The thumb tacks were one of the escalation pieces of the match but they've long since lost their excitement value as we've seen many of them. The result is that we just have wrestlers turned into pin cushions for no reason. The Willow-Statlander match was the peak of this genre. This was right in the middle, and the middle is usually not very good."
[6.0] "A fun plunder match, Thunder Rosa should be booked better, but she had a good match here and made the best of it. Same has too be said for Mariah, they really haven't helped her at all since she won the title. Should've been an amazing reign, but the lack of booking is all too obvious. Meanwhile the midcard title has more focus. I liked the pinata full of tacks was a cool idea though"
[7.0] "Really enjoyable bout with lots of great spots (including some wildly amusing character work from both wrestlers and Mr. Rosa himself) and an all-around fun use of the stipulation. Rosa is a lot of fun and more than showed up for this bout, and is just the perfect foil to Mariah's absurd ego."
[4.0] "This was more of a collection of spots than a match. The big spots were done well but the connective tissue was lacking. Sluggish transitional sequences, and some spots were slow to setup. Not a bad match but not good either and disappointing overall."

The big downfall of AEW doing the Continental Classic is that they don't have time to build anything else besides the world title so rivalries like this get little to no build. I don't care about this rivalry, I don't care about Thunder Rosa's dad, I don't care about this nearly enough to justify a Tijuana Street Fight. Even without a build this could've still be a fun garbage but there were no spots that were memorable at all. Very disappointing"
[4.0] "I really didn't like this one. I though it sucked. Just a heatless plunder match with no drama as Thunder was never winning. The two just didn't seem to click together. They didn't sell anything as they were just going from one spot to the other without sense of pace or rhytim. There were some really rough moments. Thunder got put through the tacks which was okay. Crowd's couldn't care less about any of this. Thunder's father gets involved. The moment where Mariah mocked him was fun. Mariah wins following a piledriver through a table which was the only good spot of the match. The weakest plunder match between the ladies in AEW's history. Mariah's title run has been a huge disappointment. 4/10 - 2*/5*"
[6.0] "It was another okay match, however I feel like this was another underwhelming match especially considering these two women. Mariah has had an okay title reign and Thunder hasn't gotten a good chance to shine in a good while. The match was pretty fun, but it just wasn't as good as I thought it would be, and I was overall slightly disappointed. The stipulation made the match better and I enjoyed the thumbtack shoe, that was probably my favorite part of this match."
[6.0] "(Grade:C) Despite feeling Mariah's Reign as AEW World Champion has been underwhelming and hopefully she can build it back up with more stories and a potentially reigniting of Toni Storm feud, this street fight against Thunder Rosa was enjoyable! They went all around from the entrance to near the apron with some nice spots I really enjoyed Rosa running up the leaned table to land a dropkick that was dope, Mariah spitting tequila on Rosa which I was hopping she would smash the bottle or her but everything was still good."
[4.0] "I had high hopes for this match but honestly this was average at best and terribly sloppy at worst. It's mostly a very run of the mill street fight with a few themed weapons thrown in like some Tequila and a pinata. There were a couple fun moments like the piledriver through the table and Thunder's bump into thumbtacks but there was a lot of sloppiness and downtime that really hindered the match for me. **1/4"
[4.0] "Super underwhelming and bordered on racist, I mean seriously, spitting tequila in a Mexican wrestler's face? If part of her gimmick was that she drinks a lot of tequila it would've been one thing, but they did it just because she's a Mexican. The rest of the action wasn't anything to write home about, basically the definition of a piss break."
[5.0] "This ended up being a pretty standard AEW brawl. Thankfully it didn't go deep into silly comedy mode and they kept it pretty serious. It was still pretty watchable despite a not-so-interesting structure. One thing which immediately struck me as off was that the doctor didn't give a shit about the finishing bump Rosa took. Seeing him get involved in previous matches and just leaving Rosa there unattended after she took a finisher-level piledriver through a table on the outside from the apron just didn't add up. That should be sold as something pretty serious."
[5.0] "This was middle of the road for me. Nothing here felt particularly violent or menacing, and Mariah tried to get some heat off of Thunder's papa but it didn't amount to much."
[3.0] "Maybe underwhelming its not the word because this reign has been disappointing in all light, but usually the women' s street fight of AEW are at the very least entertaining. Sasly its not the case here. The match feels dull an there isnt any connection between spots, there isnt any transitional movés that engage. Mariah is bad here and Thunder is directly horrendous."

Some sort of spear through something some thumbtacks (i know it's insane they've numbed us to THUMBTACKS) and a little more weapon crap. I mean what else is there to this match? There's no story coming into it and it's just a alright descent women's title match. Add on that's it's also just sloppy here and there not nearly as smooth as i expected these women to work. Only thing worth a damn to me was the piledriver through the table for the finish. The heel work from mariah may was good though with the work she did with rosas dad. Man this title reign has SUCKED from may. 3 stars just because kinda hard to get under that giving the very common hardcore aew spots."
[5.0] "It was hard to engage with a story and match that didn't have much interest in it to begin with. This is when you notice the crowd is already tired which is unfortunate but a common trope in modern-day AEW shows. I don't like how their pushing Mariah down for Mercedes. It devalues the Women's World Title and makes AEW look bad. This was a plain hardcore brawl with not much going for it. The only good spot was the Thumbtack spot but that was it. The ending spot seemed a bit botched from May and Rosa. [**1/2]"

The 'Tijuana Street Fight' had no rules, and they've fell short of what a hardcore match is supposed to be, some skits with Thunder Rosa's dad were fun, but overall this match was slow, the dead spots between the moves were boring as hell and the crowd was quiet. The ending was very dope, though, I loved the piledriver into the table that ended the match, that was very cool, but the entirety of the match was rough to watch - {*3/4}"

[7.0] "Ridiculous dive to start this red hot. Rosa shows serious fire, good to see she's looking fully recovered from injury. Stiff looking DDT on the ramp. The tequila spitting spot is something I've never seen before. They get back into the ring and kinda lose the crowd. Finally the pinata gets brought out to a pop. Tacks spot is great, but Maria botches the dirt spot. They stick the finish though, earning this street fight a solid 7.0."

[6.0] "It was a women's AEW street fight so the floor here is pretty high, unfortunately they didn't het much higher as the heat wasn't really there and Thunder Rosa can't really go in 2024/25 but the match was still enjoyable and had a sick finish, wonder what's next for Mariah. [8.0] "For as much as Mariah's reign has been a little disappointing with Mercedes getting the first pick of opponents, bringing out the weapons is the best way to get back on track. Women's plunder matches are a surprising constant good in AEW, and this is no exception. Didn't outstay its welcome either, leading to a pretty good match all around."
"[6/10] Mariah's reign has been disappointing so far, the matches themselves have been good mostly but it hasn't reached the heights it could've. This match was decent; but I couldn't really get into it. I love Mariah's heel work and find her hilarious but the match was slow and there was no heat at all. The thumbtacks bit was cool but I was really hoping it would reach Kris vs Willow levels of good but it just never took off."
[6.0] "This was a heatless match. Thunder Rosa's build-up has been really bad and half-assed and everyone could see that she just fills the role of a standard transitional opponent. Nobody believed that the title would change. Toni Storm or a re-built Jamie Hayter should be in the title mix in the future."
[3.0] "Same No DQ Garbage AEW has done for its whole existence. It was fun the first 50 times, and there are a few matches that hit the mark like the Willow-Statlander match from earlier this year. This was far from it though. The feud had little to no heat and absolutely no reason to be a street fight. They tried to add some heat with the stuff with Rosa's dad, which weren't great either. It's the same weapons match we've all seen. Thumbtacks, chairs, all that stuff. The finished was pretty good but other than that, a very weak women's title match."
