1 | 30.06.2025 | TPG | 9.0 | Sami Zayn is one of the best wrestlers in WWE right now. When he collided with one of my favourites of all time once again, it created magic. Gunther's actually got that small sense of worry because Sami was able to beat him for the IC belt, but here he dominates over Sami, and doesn't take Sami as seriously as he should, and that allows Sami's comebacks to be all the more electric. With each hit he lands on Gunther, it gives us all the more hope that he'll be able to come out victorious. What makes it especially satisfying is that more often than not, Sami still does break through, nailing his big move and breaking past Gunther's attempts to slow him down. That allows us to continue to believe in Sami, really buy into his chances here with the memory of the victory at Mania still glowing bright in our minds. What's different really is that he's up against a Gunther that's not playing games anymore. Gunther wrestles defensively at first, but he's also a lot more keyed in to hone in on advantages. The champion really adds on the pressure here, stringing together offense more urgently, and again Sami still keeps breaking through. That powerbomb one count feels so damn rich given how pretty well protected Gunther's offense as a whole is, and he gets the most possible drama out of that final Sleeper before going out as well. ****1/4 |

6 | 27.04.2025 | Bigbubbahbubbah | 8.0 | Excellent match, because of how much it gets across while using as little unique moves as possible. Gunther dominates Sami in this match because he hardly ever gives him any room to turn the tides. The first stretch establishes this: Gunther literally keeps Sami strapped to him with a headlock, making Sami take a couple of attempts before finally getting Gunther off of him, and when he does, Gunther runs uncontrollably from rope to rope, leading to his embarrassment for the first commerical break spot. When it comes back from break, Gunther catches Sami's running crossbody and dominates him from there on, because he just sticks to the strikes he's most known for, since Sami can't compete with him there but Sami can potentially reverse any sort slam attack, where he doesnt have to directly fight him to gain the advantage. So what does Sami do in response? He directly attacks him and strikes back, because hes all heart! He surprises Gunther this way, and it translates to his Blue Thunder Bomb attempts, where he'll stun Gunther, and baffingly go for it way too early, but he does it over and over until Gunther is too overwhelmed to reverse it a third time. Sami may be a lil shortsighted but his directness with it is very charming. And why does Gunther get overwhelmed? Other than by Sami's heart, he tries a back body drop, stepping away from his strikes, and immediately pays for it. And this is emphasized by Gunther swinging Sami to the ropes for a back elbow strike the first time, and the second time swinging Sami, he tries that back body drop and screws himself. Gunther retreats to the outside where Sami finally hits his Exploder+Helluva Kick, but he has to get Gunther back in the ring and it takes forever so he cant take advantage, adding an unfortunate moment in the match and underlying the tragedy of the underdog. It's a moment further emphasized where back in the ring, Sami hits the first Helluva Kick... just one more kick.... and the second one he's brutally clotheslined and that's pretty much it offensively for him. Ignoring the rollup attempt afterwards, Sami attempted 4 and hit 3 unique moves total in the match, a far cry from the Wrestlemania match, where he hit a half nelson suplex, a tornado DDT, the brainbustaaahhhh, because of Gunther's strategy in this match, of doing very few unique moves, just uppercuts and chops, being successful, which only further emphasized Sami's comebacks in this match. And after his domination by Gunther, Sami's kickout of the final powerbomb at 1 leaves a hint of future redemption for Sami, as if that spot wasnt there, it would firmly snuff Sami's potential in kayfabe as a World Title holder out. And it's justified in kayfabe cause it's basically an amplified version of the strategy Sami had used all match, because of Gunther! Hes the reason for it! A very smart bout. And this match contains the most beautiful in ring moment of WWE this decade, as after a struggle on the final Sleeper Hold, Sami turns towards the ropes and reaches for them. It's a moment that looks like a Renaissance painting. Probably the WWE MOTY. |

11 | 26.02.2025 | Wrestlingfan0808 | 9.0 | The string of ple caliber raw matches continues and this time featuring Sami and Gunther. This is why a lot of people including myself, were so angry that this got left off the bad blood card. Whenever the third maych happens between the two, it needs to happen on a ple. After rewatching again this morning, This might be better if not equal to the match they had a mania if you paid attention to the little details that both Gunther and Sami were displaying throughout the match. Wrestling at the end of the day is all about feeling. There are a handful of guys that really bring out that emotion out of you in a match and Sami is one of those guys. Can you believe there was a time period where he was a heel? Sami Zayn is one of the best babyfaces ever and best wrestlers of his generation and the fact he wasnt booked as such for a long period of time in the WWE is really frustrating looking back at it. I have no doubt in my mind he will win the whc one day, but the time will just have to be put on hold for the time being because it's Gunthers time now. The ring general! Hes so good at destroying the hope you would have in your fave babyface wrestlers. One of the most complete wrestlers I have ever seen and its truly a blessing that hes booked as such. Lengthy review I know but when something this good happens, its hard not to express how you feel in such a positive manner. What a match. ****1/2 |

I think it was good that WWE ran this considering that Zayn beat GUNTHER for the Intercontinental Title at WrestleMania, and I'm also glad that GUNTHER got the win this time around. Everything was just done pretty well here, in my opinion. |

40 | 01.11.2024 | Frank Shooter | 7.0 | A lighter version of what the WrestleMania match was, but no so far away from that, as it basically suffers from the same wrong, a weak story. The first one was weak because it didn't have to happen, it was not the match that should've happened and it was all rushed and forced, while this is a sequel of that, which made Gunther look like a coward heel that he shouldn't be either and no further deepness than Gunther being mad at himself and scared from losing to an underdog like Sami and that plain sucks. Therefore, I didn't found the match to be such great, but not just because there was a lack of a great storytelling, it wasn't also a great thing in the ring, just very good because they're still Gunther and Sami Zayn, two amazing talents that when they're mixed together they would surely put a good show, but neither of them went to the fullest of their potentials. The Fighting Spirit moment of Sami was something I thought I would dislike more than I actually did. I think Sami could've sold it better by looking more in pain and tired and have him face Gunther to show him what he really has to fear about him, but at least after receiving two finishers they went with an inmediate finish with the Gojira Clutch and Sami being true to his nature and fighting until his last breath. With a true great story, this two could produce an all time match, this just wasn't beyond a pretty good TV main event (*** 1/2) |

And it didnt reach that mark, but it wasnt far from it thanks to Gunther and Sami reaching their strides towards the backend of the match. They were able to rally the drama and put together a strong finish. Performances remained good throughout, mind you. Gunther was in monster mode, cutting Sami off at every turn, and brutalising him. And Sami put in a great selling performance like only few others can. Simple structure wise, but both sold it wonderfully. ***3/4 |

Two ad breaks put some hurdles in this one's way, as does the TV setting, but Gunther and Zayn are far too good to stumble in response. Instead, they produce a satisfying sequel that peaks at PPV main event highs, exploding late as Zayn's defiance takes a more desperate direction. There's depth beyond that natural outline too, as Gunther wrestles the memory of WrestleMania as well as Zayn himself. That allows him to show some range, sporting a raw aggression as a cloud of doubt lingers over his head. Great match, because of course. **** |
