| 1 | 04.09.2026 | 5nicoShuffle | 5.0 | I was at this show and it was another fairly decent-but-formulaic show from Wrestle Island. The opener was solid and competitive, although the finish was maybe a little lackluster. Saxa had a surprisingly quick victory over suprise opponent RJ Crazy in an intergender match, with Ty Archer lurking at ringside. The Power Up briefcase delivered the first dose of the usual chaos of multi person matches. This one though was a bit tamer than some, and the winner was more than a little predictable. The match for both Openweight titles (as both Max & Sean entered carrying one) was solid, although the angle might have gone down better with more effort behind it, as it just came across as confusing. The match between the Yellow Sub Machine Guns and The 05 started off as a pretty one-sided smart heels match, with Dec Henry getting beatdown and isolated from his partner for quite some time. The 05 did eventually turn things around with the hot tag, with some cool double team moves and exciting saves. Finish was a bit lame, as one of the Quinlan's caused a distraction win for The 05. More chaos next with the 6 man match. Jozy and Pele fought to the back almost immediately, leaving everyone else fighting it out. We had a dive to the outside by Geno, taking out everyone, including his partner. Jozy got slammed onto chairs by Pele, when they eventually found their way back to ringside. Later on in the match, Jozy confused the heels by pretending to be the ref, and counting the pin. After the match, Pele and a masked man (later unmasked as Peter Sedohr) beat down Mayne and Pesek, and seemingly forming a new alliance. The main event really was a match of 2 halves. First half stalled a bit with all the interference from the Yellow Sub Machine Guns, until they were inevitably thrown out. After they were the match got much better. Oberman tried to use the belt on RPD out of desperation, but ran into the ref instead, allowing his allies to return to help out. After this things got pretty messy - double team, belt shot and the revived ref was pulled out. A bit too much going on in the end for me. |
