The worst are usually just comedy/throwaway matches and the best are what we got in the main event of tonight's show, fast-paced, back and forth determination despite the brutality of the tournament. Francesco Akira vs Hiromu Takahashi was an absolute standout in the entire tournament and needs to be watched. While you're at it, should probably put on Mao vs Titan and Nick Wayne vs Robbie Eagles for good measure. |

Dragon Dia vs Clark Connors: Mediocre match with brawling on the outside being the main part, Connors bringing the tire into play was not needed, not good or bad but needed to be better, Dia getting the win was the right way to go [**]. YOH vs Kevin Knight: Only a fine match due to card placement and not being given the time, Knight had an okay showing even if YOH got the win, could have been better [**1/2]. KUSHIDA vs Ninja Mack: Mack had a couple of counters for the offense of KUSHIDA that looked okay, but the match was mediocre not what of they are capable of [**]. Nick Wayne vs Robbie Eagles: Eagles worked the leg of Wayne which Wayne sold well, the match overall was decent and if it went 10-15 minutes I would not have complained [***]. Robbie X vs Yoshinobu Kanemaru: A typical pre match brawl on the outside, the match was short and not that interesting, X getting the win was good to see though [*3/4]. Titan vs MAO: There was a brutal sounding chop sequence, a mix of highflying wrestling and punches/forearms action, I enjoyed it more than I expected [***]. Kosei Fujita vs Master Wato: This was a 7 minute match that could have been longer, they did what they could but did feel underwhelmed as they could have done a lot more if it had more time [**3/4]. Taiji Ishimori vs El Desperado: Not one of their best matches, it felt it lacked something but it was somewhat solid throughout, Ishimori winning was a surprise as was expecting Despy to win [***]. Francesco Akira vs Hiromu Takahashi: MOTN, potentially MOTT, these two brought their A game in Korakuen Hall, the crowd were on fire for this one, Akira winning was nice to see, Hiromu even in defeat put on a great showing [****1/2] |

Also worth mentioning are Titan's strong performance and Kosei Fujita's impressive win, showing clear growth throughout the tournament. Día vs Connors (**.75): Face vs heel match where the heel gets outsmarted by the face in the end. Connors getting hit in the face with the tire was fucking funny though. YOH vs Knight (***.5): This was alright. Nothing special but a perfectly acceptable match that made both men look good. Kushida vs Mack (**): Mack's been trying to ride the coattail of his success from night 1 with the viral flippy spot and has been trying to recreate moments ever since. He failed to do so against Akira and had an even worse match with Kushida tonight, which sucks considering they did alright last year. Wayne vs Eagles (****): Another banger performance from both guys. Highly recommend. Kanemaru vs X (***): Perfectly fine match. Nothing remarkable. Titan vs MAO (****.25): Great match that had both men doing great. The final 5+ minutes were highly entertaining. Fujita vs Wato (***.75): 7 minutes? Seriously? They should've at least went 10. Even in the 7 minutes they had they both delivered but god they need to start giving some of these guys more time. Ishimori vs Desperado (****.25): Awesome match with these guys. They never miss and this wasn't an exception. Nice limb work and had a sense of urgency throughout it to really solidify the enjoyment for me. Akira vs Hiromu (****.5): My boys in Akira and Fujita are doing wonderful. I loved this, great gatekeeper work from Hiromu and some really nice spots that once again solidified Akira as a true star in the Junior division. |
