The death matches and the main event shenanigans were major downsides for me. I have always liked hardcore wrestling, and I have been known to enjoy deathmatch wrestling, but there was this feeling that because you are being slammed through glass, that more is more and you no longer need to sell or move with purpose. They do not understand diminishing returns. Sawyer Wreck (and probably others; it just jumped out to me the two times I have seen her in a death match) actually has some charisma but does this thing where she goes like oh, I hit you with this thing, so now I will stand here and allow you to hit me with said thing, and we shall exchange such hits until they have lost all meaning. John Wayne Murdoch and Dr. Redacted broke so much glass that my takeaway is that it must not hurt. They would be much better served by having a single glass spot with some teasing and buildup. Dr. Redacted was especially bad. Gets hit with glass, no reaction, just meanders to the next spot and stands there awaiting it. No facial expressions. No urgency. No selling. The main event was such a cop-out, either they did not think Danhausen could hold his own or they booked themselves into a corner where neither could lose, so the championship match - which Danhausen has been vying for since Matt Cardona screwed him out of it - gets thrown out in favor of a random tag team match, and Danhausen just accepts this? Very out of character, it left a bad taste even if the ensuing tag match was OK. I believe this same scenario was also just done recently with Megan Bayne in the spot of Danhausen. |
