[8.0] "(****) A great day 7 as compared to a middling day 6. Great performances in the openers through to the main event. Sanada continues his campaign of being a convincing champion while the young guys continue to showcase why they are the future of Japanese wrestling."
[6.0] "Thankfully a bounce back from the bad 6th night, with this being an acceptably good show. I'm not sure I have a clear MOTN because my 3 highest rated matches (all ***1/4 - ***1/2) were all very close in terms of their positives and negatives. Ospreay vs O-Khan was pretty good. Ospreay executed all his signature moves perfectly while also bumping big time. O-Khan's character is still low grade, and his offence still overly theatrical, but some of his attacks here were pretty good and actually more interesting than usual, and his cheap tricks in the 2nd half added good drama. Bit overkill by the end but still enjoyable. ***1/4 - ***1/2. Kidd vs Shota was quite good. Kidd once again jumped and crowd-brawled to start, but his strikes, intensity, and heel work were all quite good, and Shota was pretty fiery and sympathetic in response. Their faster-paced trades were also good, with both playing their respective heel/face roles well to build drama. ***1/4. KENTA vs Taichi was fun for its time. After a pretty fun pre-match battle of posturing and crowd-work, they had a pretty fun sprint with Taichi's big, impactful moves against Kenta's well-timed cheap tricks and cheating attempts. Too short; no rating. Chase vs Tsuji was poorly booked/structured. Why the hell was Tsuji, the young guy who already looks/acts like a total star AND is a recent Dominion main-eventer, struggling so heavily against an undercard slob like CHASE OWENS? ? ? Tsuji's offence and character work were always really good, while some of Chase's work was pretty amateurish and only ever 'decent' at best. **1/2. ELP vs Loa was another very mediocre match with one guy (in this case ELP) carrying it. Loa was an okay bruiser here, to be fair, but he did nothing particularly interesting. ELP at least impressed with his array of cool aerial stunts, but his chemistry with Loa produced nothing memorable aside from a bunch of fine exchanges and spots. **1/2. Narita vs Hikuleo was an alright striker-vs-monster match. It was fun watching Narita try to cut Hikuleo down with his strikes and technical trickery, and some of Hikuleo's returns were good. They unfortunately had some sloppy chemistry as the match progressed, and it was a shame to see Hikuleo win. **3/4. Okada vs Yoshi was pretty good, but it was another case of a forced 'epic' with Yoshi, where he wrestled like he was actually somewhat level with Okada, which is just absurd when his character work and offence are both so mediocre. Okada definitely carried this with his wonderfully arrogant disdain/aggression, his many smooth and flashy attacks, and his strong selling/bumping. They admittedly had some pretty good rapid trades and near falls at the end, but that did still feel unnatural for a match between these two. ***1/4 - ***1/2. SANADA vs Kiyomiya was pretty good but definitely no great match. In the first 2/3rds both their technical work and their faster exchanges and counters were good, but Kiyomiya far overshadowed Sanada with his confident arm- and later leg-targeting plus the fire he showed in the process. Sanada's babyface-selling was okay and his leg-selling was good before he eventually abandoned it. At least his speedy and more impactful attacks and counters were more impressive. Their rapid big-move trades towards the end were sadly a bit sloppy but mostly pretty good, and I liked them rushing to put each other away in that final minute, which added a lot of extra drama. ***1/4 - ***1/2"
[8.0] "This was a great start to the Tokyo G1 shows that started great and ended in one of the most dramatic moments of the entire tournament. There is something here for everyone to enjoy the Okada/Yoshi-Hashi match is my favorite match of the night. The Korakuen fans also added a lot to make this one of the best shows so far"
[10.0] "Best night of the tournament so far. Kenta has had a rough time in terms of quality but those 2 minutes were perfect. I hope next time he gets a longer match that is actually good. Will Ospreay went to war with Kahn his stable mate, both showing off air attacks. Nice to see Hikuleo, Yota, Shota and Phantasmo all get wins tonight. The final two matches sealed the deal but I was shoked Okada won his match but Kaito Kiyomiya lost his match."
Okada stach hier wieder mal etwas heraus. Wirklich ein guter Tag"
[7.0] "Eine wiedermal Gute Show hier vom A & B Block.
[6.0] "A satisfactory night in the G1, most of the matches were average to good, Ospreay vs O-Khan was really good, Okada vs HASHI was also really good, and the main event was great and the match of the night. Not gonna lie, with 32 participants and that many matches, is getting hard to watch them all."
[6.0] "It's 7th day of the turnament and i'm already bored. I thinka lot of lowercard matches are just to slow and wrestlers don't deliver on good level"
[8.0] "This show flew by - I think it's important to recommend to watch this entire show because first two days of this year's G1 could made you think to not bother about watching shows from start to finish and only cherry-pick matches. Matches that could've overstay their welcome didn't do that, matches that had potential to deliver were great, every match had a simple story and the crowd was great."
[9.0] "Very good show, had a lot of fun watching this. Ospeay vs OKhan, Okada vs YOSH-HASHI and SANADA vs. Kiyomiya were all great. Great crowd in Korakuen as well."
[9.0] "After the last two shows the A and B blocks have easily gone ahead as the stronger blocks, especially A which continues to be exciting. Great opener that made you believe O-Khan could win. Kidd seems to have found a stronger formula to mix his cheating schtick with quality wrestling and Shota grows and grows every match. Kenta vs Taichi was dissapointing in the sense that you thought Kenta would go into that mode again given his opponent but the cheating was fun. The next two matches both over delivered and both guys got their win. Narita vs Hikuleo was somewhat disappointing but once again Hikuleo picks up his first win, and the last two matches were the G1 greatness you expect. Hot crowd too and the show flew by."
[8.0] "There were 4 mostly nothing matches in the middle of the show, which weren't even outright bad, were just as I said, basically nothing. The first 2 and last 2 matches are worth your time though, especially the main event. Korakuen always has the best crowds, the best venue in the world."
[9.0] "Great event, with only one match that wasn't good, the rest I enjoyed. Great O-Khan vs Will Ospreay: Despite the two being in the United Empire, they put that aside to have a very competive match, which I enjoyed thoroughly, Ospreay showed why he is the GOAT and O-Khan showing that he can hang with the best, Ospreay winning was the better choice and I'm glad he did (***3/4). Gabe Kidd vs Shota Umino: Solid match, despite the pre-bell attack on Umino by Kidd, Umino proved that he is the better wrestler and showed that he has a promising future with a great win here, even though I thought Kidd was gonna win with the shenanigans he played out (***1/4). KENTA vs Taichi: Not a good match to be honest, if we can even call it that, it was intense for the first minute and then KENTA had to cheat to win, but could have been longer time-wise only then would it have been better (1/2*). Chase Owens vs Yota Tsuji: The match in general was good and glad Tsuji got the win, Tsuji showed that he can hang with veterans of the business like Owens despite his lack of experience not only in the tournament but in the business altogether (***1/2). Tanga Loa vs El Phantasmo: Good match overall, with the athleticism of Phantasmo and the power of Loa made for an interesting watch (***3/4). Hikuleo vs Ren Narita: This match wasn't that bad to be honest, Hikuleo showing a bit more of an aggressive side against Narita, which worked out well for him in the end when he beat Narita. Narita showed he can wrestle someone taller than him (***1/4). Kazuchika Okada vs YOSHI-HASHI: Really good match between the two CHAOS teammates, YOSHI-HASHI really brought it to Okada and Okada winning was obvious though (****). SANADA vs Kaito Kiyomiya: Kiyomiya continues to be a MVP in this tournament even though he did lose, another banger of a match that can't believe ended with just 2 seconds to go before the time limit (****3/4)"
[9.0] "Great night, not one bad match. The Tsuji/Chase match was maybe longer than it needed to be but it was still fine. KENTA vs Taichi was entertaining and the last 2 matches were incredible. It builds nicely to the next A/B block night."
[7.0] "Opening and last two matches were from good to great, but the rest of it was average, so it would be unfair to give it a higher rating than this one. Still, probably second best night of the G1 so far."
[7.0] "Awesome day after that not so good day before. 1st Match: ***1/2 (It was clear that this was a banger. Great chemistry and O-Khan wanted to prove himself) 2nd Match: ***1/2 (I dont like Gabe. But I like his wrestling moveset.) 3rd Match: * (I was laughing my ass off when KENTA played air guitar -wrong but hey, cool though. Now I wanna see a version of Ryusuke. Match itself was skippable) 4th Match: ***1/2 (a good Chase Owens match. He was maybe a bit too strong but it was ok.) 5th Match: ***1/2 (also surprising good Tanga Loa match. The hug in the beginning was beautiful.) 6th Match: ***1/4 (wow Hikuleo dominated Ren. Didnt expect that.) 7th Match: ****1/2 (more in the matchguide. Just awesome) 8th Match: ****1/2 (more in the matchguide too. The best finish when it comes to timing Ive ever seen.) 7/10"
[9.0] "The best night of this year's Climax by far (and one of the best in recent history really). The B block is starting to stand out as the strongest in the entire competition and I wonder if YOSHI-HASHI is gonna reach the semi-finals."
