205.01.2025KingsCrossing9.0This is an excellent show that I don't feel gets the praise that it deserves. There isn't a bad match here, and several of the undercard bouts are much better than they look on paper. Everything flows together well and serves a purpose on the card as a whole. It all feels different and never grows tired or repetitive. The ROH World Title match is one of Aries' best defences, but the main event is what really makes the show. The CM Punk vs. Jimmy Rave rivalry is often overlooked, but for my money it's up there as one of the best in ROH history. It's textbook wrestling, pure hero vs. villain with a serious score to settle, and it comes to a very fitting conclusion here. I will concede that this show will likely not resonate as much if you are either unfamiliar with the Punk vs. Rave feud, or simply not as big of a fan of it as I am, but for anybody who is invested in this rivalry (or simply loves an old fashioned grudge match inside a steel cage) this show is certain to give you exactly what you're looking for.

622.10.2022arrancar6.0A low-level good show with one very good match plus a bunch of other matches that were mostly quite good. Gibson vs Whitmer was a rapid sprint that felt half as long as it was. Everything they did was speedy, intense, impactful, and accompanied by strong real-time selling. Their big bombs and near falls made for a great finishing stretch. ***1/4 - ***1/2. Collyer vs Jacobs was decent. Jacobs was an endearing, fiery babyface with nicely scrappy offence. Collyer's had decent technique and physicality, but his character work was very bland. ***. Williams vs Homicide was quite good. Williams' technical work was all really snug and convincing, while Homicide offence's was typically aggressive and his character work was entertainingly sadistic. Their second-half interactions were quite intense and explosive, making for some fun interactions. ***1/4. Shelley & Delirious vs Evans & Roddy was also quite good, with good pacing and good work all around. Delirious' goofy gimmick spots and wild grappling skills were fun, Shelley's offence was always very smooth and energetic Roddy's strikes and power moves were all very impactful, and Evans' various aerial stunts, bumps, and arrogant heel spots were equally cool. Roddy and Evans' tag spots always made great use of their two unique styles, too. ***1/4. Nigel vs Cabana was another quite good match. Both had endearing and entertaining character work, and they both obviously had very strong technical skills, making for some really compelling and creative exchanges as they tried to 'out-wizard' each other. All their striking work was enjoyably stiff as well. Their outright comedy-attempts were pretty goofy but at least still fit with their 'eccentric' style. ***1/4. Aries vs Danielson was very good -- by far the MOTN. They had many intense interactions, especially with all their technical exchanges, showing off great physicality, aggression, and selling in the process. Their big strike and power-move trades were all very impressively impactful, and the near falls in the final 1/4th were very convincing, even if they missed the peak by the time they went for the finish. ***3/4. Punk vs Rave was a bit underwhelming but quite good as far as cage matches go. Rave was a really compelling heel for just how slimy, cheap, and undeservingly arrogant he was, and he naturally tried to win mostly through cage-escapes -- typically the coward's way out. Punk was nicely aggressive and scrappy as he hunted Rave down and forced him into a fight, making for some fun moments when he just mercilessly beat Rave down, much to the crowd's approval. Rave's selling was really good, and he was likewise nicely scrappy in his beatdown work once he gained control. This mostly ended up as a messy slugfest with all the standard cage match tropes thrown in, but at least both men put good effort and conviction behind all their work to keep it moderately engaging. ***1/4

1017.11.2018owenc51010.0This was an amazing show. Not one bad match on it. The "weakest" match on the show as Jimmy Jacobs vs Chad Collyer which wasn't even bad but very decent to fairly good depending on how you look at it. The first match was a really good match with Gibson vs Whitmer. I liked how Gibson looked really strong against Whitmer despite his size. he found a good way to get an advantage by beating down his legs. The crowd was great and it was the first of many awesome matches on the show. Homicide vs Doug Williams was an excellent match. Williams was fantastic with his British style technical wrestling. I liked how despite being heavily controlled early on, Homicide fought back and won. The tag team match was another fantastic match. I'm a big fan of Generation Next and this wasn't any different. Shelley and Delirious worked well together even though they never tagged before. I liked Delirious' comedy in the match plus his surprising skill in the ring. Jack Evans was amazing with his high flying and Roderick Strong was great as well. Everyone in the match was great. McGuinness vs Cabana was a really good comedy/technical match. Cabana outsmarted McGuinness a lot in the match and made it really fun to watch. The match was a great contest. I thought it was kinda weird how the match ended but it was a great change and still kept the match really good. The last two matches were amazing. Aries vs Danielson because of the technical and great workrate. They put on an awesome match by the end and is highly recommended. The main event was the best on the show for having a great feud plus and awesome bloody match to end the show. It was excellent and fun throughout the whole thing. The crowd was awesome in the match and was completely behind Punk. I loved the post match when Steel and Cabana came out and celebrated with Punk and the crowd was cheering him on. It was excellent. One other thing I liked was Shelley's search for a partner that was funny and great. Very great show.

Steel Cage ebenfalls gut 8/10. Nowhere To Run ist insgesamt richtig gut.
1716.04.2008Dave Finlay10.0Sehr feine Show.
