[5.0] "In 1999, a group of wrestling fans adquiered some VHS tapes from Extreme Championship Wrestling. After seeing them, they decided to become wrestlers, and therefore, Xtreme Club Lucha Libre was born. The promotion relied on hardcore wrestling, trying to emulate the success ECW once had. While they had some success at first and were pioneers on adopting american concepts into chilean wrestling, they never managed to get further. Xtreme Club founders were very undisciplined people backstage, fully inducted into alcohol, drugs and hookers, and wasted each and every single opportunity thrown at them to profesionalize the sport in the country. They even had an investor, who proceeded to cut all funds as he found out that Xtreme wrestlers were wasting all the money and resources on non-wrestling related stuff. After this incident, the promotion went on an almost 10 year hiatus. By the time they came back in 2011, the landscape in Chile had already changed, and soon the guys clashed horns with almost every promotion founded in Santiago. Their substance abuse ways didn't fit well with the new generations, who saw them as washed-up veterans. For many years they refused to accept that were no longer in the 90's and their rockstar-esque attitude wasn't cool anymore, until they realized that they needed to change their business ways if they wanted to stay relevant. Therefore, Xtreme Club was almost refounded, focusing on more technically-oriented matches, and relying less on hardcore and ultraviolent matches. While their product has improved over the years, I'm still giving them a 3 out of 10. That's because the continuous and blatant image-washing of the promotion really bothers me to the core. They claim to be "the oldest promotion in the country" without mentioning the almost 10-year gap between the original and the 2011 version. While they have many good and young wrestlers in their roster, not a single one of them was trained by the Xtreme Club wrestling school, but instead were created in other wrestling schools and promotions. Xtreme Club's fandom is a very agressive one, constantly taking shots and harassing whoever dares to criticise or question their beloved promotion. Besides a few and notable exceptions, almost all the Xtreme Club originals are terrible wrestlers in terms of technique and in-ring work; most of them are the stereotypical "hardcore" wrestlers that barely know how to wrestle and need tons of garbage and bladejobs to have a decent match. They were poorly trained by Miguel Ángel Fanfani, but they have lied for years about being trained by american legend Eddie Sharkey. As a matter of fact, Sharkey only did a two-day seminar in Chile, and was never seen again in the country. While they have labeled as "the best promotion of the country" by some wrestling media in Chile, they are very far from actually being it."
[8.0] "Much more interesting and with much more top talent than other promotions. I rather prefer quality of the today wrestlers than gossip comments of things that happened in the past with some wrestler's conflicting personalities. Judge a promotion for just being assholes is, to say the least, poor judgment. At least they immediately kicked out the guys who were involved in some kind of sexual harassment or scam."
"Hoy en dia de las mejores agrupaciones chilenas que veras con una gran selección de luchadores de todas las edades. Para cualquier visitante del extranjero es una visita obligada"
