[8.0] "I haven't watched a huge number of AAA shows, but their recent output deserves recognition. Events like Guerra De Titanes have been fantastic, building on the momentum from Alianzas, the NXT crossovers, and TripleMania. I didn't expect the promotion to deliver such a consistently strong product after the WWE partnership began, yet they've managed to do so. The combination of solid attendance, exciting matches, and overall production quality makes AAA highly enjoyable right now; arguably more entertaining than many WWE shows at the moment. That said, CMLL still feels like the more polished, consistently excellent option. For AAA's current run, I'd give them high marks for revitalizing their shows and making them worth following."

I didn't expect them to deliver such a good product after the WWE partnership began. Honestly, they are more enjoyable to watch right now than any other product under the WWE banner. Between the attendance, the matches, and the overall quality, an 8 or 9 for the last few months is a fair rating.""

Sure, they had a good show with WWE a while ago, but what I've noticed with the titles is they barely defend them. I mean I think I saw someone have only 5 defenses when they've been champion for 900+ days. That's outrages,"

They attempted to make multiple in-roads within the US either through Lucha Underground or hosting their own events in the US, but they never seemed to quite catch on beyond Mexico. Recently, the promotion made a deal to have WWE serve as its majority shareholder, which makes sense given how the two have similar approaches to wrestling. This has helped both promotions, as it has both improved the profile of luchadores in America while offering WWE-quality talent to wrestle in AAA."

These days, it feels like a circus--and I don't mean that in a derogatory way--it truly feels like a circus with wrestlers who can barely stand in the ring. Triplemania used to be the only thing saving this company from being forgotten, but these days it's safe to say it's a luxury they can no longer afford. With AAA's purchase, we'll see more and more of the mess they left before accepting the offer. Full of old guys past their prime, it's just sad to watch."

While the heyday of AAA was damn near untouchable, in the last few years, it has been a roller coaster of a promotion. Now, not for a lack of trying. But with AAA, what you see is what you get essentially. Some of the more recent TripleMania's have been dreadful, to be kind. Also, now they can wash the taste of Alberto El Patron as champion out of their mouths."

They have an accused rapist as their champion. There's not much more you can say to demonstrate just how low its sunk. He should be nowhere near a wrestling ring and yet he's the golden boy for whatever reason. Even without my moral objections, its just a slog to sit through. Very rarely is there anything worth taking time out of your day to watch. It's extremely unfortunate that this is the state of the "#2" lucha promotion."

[2.0] "The company was way past its prime, with endless questionable booking decisions that seemed to hurt the product more than improve it in the slightest. In the last couple of years, things started going worse, with most of its important shows being complete failures...and still, not everything is negative here. AAA was the only big company in Mexico that allowed indie talent to apply for having matches in their shows, helping them to get exposure on their careers, as well as being open to letting their own talents to wrestle in smaller promotions without any extra contractual agreements. We can hate AAA's shows, but no one in Mexico was prepared for WWE buying the company. They probably selled it in order to avoid bankruptcy, which would have been expected, yet unfortunate. I'm still lowering my rating for this entry because I think AAA sucks, but that doesn't mean that I'm not disappointed of what might be coming. As Mil Mascaras once stated: "The day that American pro-wrestling market enters in Mexico, mexican pro-wrestling will die in its essence". Somehow I feel that there's some truth in that statement and I only hope for the best."

[3.0] "In your year end retrospectives around this time of year, don't forget to give AAA big consideration for worst promotion of the year. A few years back when AAA was dealing with both AEW and IMPACT and had Penta and Fenix and Mortos while CMLL was booking Big Daddy Yum Yum, it really felt like AAA could be the new dominant force in Mexican wrestling ... not so, as it turns out. While CMLL has had a renaissance, AAA works with fewer big leagues than ever, pretty much only loaning out their only international star in Vikingo. No one wants to see Alberto on top, yet there he sits, while Konnan's booking and business sense have seemingly never been worse. And this is coming from someone who likes Aero Star and Psycho Clown and the Wagners and some talent still there. If they lose Vikingo, they'll have no crossover star and very little reason for the wrestling world at large to pay attention to them (which isn't much these day anyway), and they really have to be in the conversation for worst major promotion if you take an overview of where they were 3-5 years ago and where they are now."

The production is awful, cutting constantly, and terrible audio, these hurt their matxhes for me, there is a lot of bullshit on their cards as well. With its roster it could be the top lucha promotion. Despite this, it is firmly behind CMLL, and Big Lucha."

[5.0] "The 1990s were a great time if you wanted to create your own breakaway league. Sure, Kerry Packer never succeeded with cricket in the 70s, but the Premier League did with football in 1992, and then so did darts, rugby, and weirdly, professional wrestling. Pena and his new outfit came out the gates pretty hot, like they all did, but where does it stand now? And the answer is a resounding "meh". Whereas you could argue the merits of WWE/AEW and NJPW/AJPW/NOAH until the cows come home, the grand total of Konnan's booking and the Penas' stewardship have shown a lot of style but very little substance. A few weeks ago, I joked about AAA in 2024 being very much like WWF in 1994, in that it houses one of the greatest wrestlers on the planet (Vikingo/Bret), but the rest of the card is basically a bunch of Doinks, and even though that's a harsh statement... I'm not really wrong, am I?"

If youve only seen AAA it may seem like ideal Lucha Libre but once getting into CMLL it really showcases the differences in each company and how less rounded many of AAAs talent are. It doesnt help that AAA is seemingly far more open to booking anyone regardless of how shit of a person they are if it manages to fill just 20 more seats. Theres talent and stuff Ive liked and still like in AAA over the years but its really become apparent to me over the past several years that AAA is probably not getting away from playing second fiddle to CMLL for a very long time if ever with the way it is. Its many foreigners first (including myself) introduction to any sort of Lucha Libre in Mexico itself which is a good thing and something that CMLL just seemingly doesnt try at all to grow to a non Mexican audience."

The last few years the company has moved away from a lot of the issues plaguing the booking. Most shows deliver and even those that don't are still pretty fun. While not really stuck in stasis the same way CMLL is, a lot of the roster could use more forward momentum more frequently. From their boom period in the 90s to their current product, I have no issue giving them an easy 10."

I can't see the wild, creative, or fun moves that AAA offers in literature, and although it's present in other wrestling promotions, the wild shit starts here. From Eddie and Rey to Penta and Fenix, this is the place where future stars get to try out all the wildness that ends up getting them over in America once they conquer Mexico. I can watch any wrestling show and see restholds that 'tell a story' but the moves I see in lucha libre, and AAA in particular, will always be the kind of fun I want in my wrestling."

While the wrestling quality is a bit worse than CMLL, their overall presentation and their international cooperation is their best feature. They have well known wrestlers, very intense storylines, great feuds, professional commentary, awesome events and they upload most of their shows on their YT channel. To sum up, the best wrestling in Mexico and one of the best companies on world arena."
